Ahahahaaa! Hoo, that's rich, guys! ... what, you're serious? (Dragonball movie cast)

Okay, I can’t say with 100% certainty that this is legit, but it looks the part.

Goku’s… hair… you’re doing it wrooong! And at the same time, it makes a horrid amount of sense.

(some people on the forum I got it from say that the pictures aren’t appearing. They work for me, so I dunno.)

There was no way this was going to be good to begin with. I don’t think the problem is with the hair. My problem is with the breasts (or lack thereof). Goku should be a little more chiseled though.

Isn’t James Marsters supposed to be playing Piccolo in this?

I’m not even sure what to make of that. He’s kind of… short for Piccolo, isn’t he?

There’s only two kinds of guys who wear those Hawaiian shirts. Gay guys and big, fat party animals. And Chow Yun Fat I guess.

Yeah, a slight casting mismatch – Goku is 5’11” and Piccolo is 5’9”.

I posted about this a while ago. Yeah, it looks like another train wreck ala “Street Fighter: The Movie.” That’s Hollywood thinking for you, folks. They think ANY popular franchise will make a good movie. Speed Racer, anyone?

But I’m not saying a GOOD DB movie couldn’t be made- they just need the right approach. After all, I used to think Ghost in the Shell couldn’t be made into a movie -too much surreal subtext- but that was before"The Matrix" came out. (And yes, there are plans to make a GITS movie.)

You know what’s ironic? The DB movie was shot in Mexico. Why is that ironic? First, because DB is pretty popular there; second, because I’ve seen a lot of Mexican TV and Movie actors (we get their stuff here all the time) and I think they would’ve looked better than the ones chosen for this movie! In particular, there was an old comedian years ago who was the spitting image of Master Roshi.

But you know, maybe the movie itself WILL be good. I’m not counting on it, but you never know…

Shut your goddamn mouth, Wil. Speed Racer was a fucking awesome movie. I don;t care if everyone thought it was just a “kid’s movie”, that movie visually challenged and entertained me WAY more than any other live action movie this year!

…I Will Concede Street Fighter, though.

It’s like “What if Dragon Ball was created like a high school play? Except with celebrities and disapointment?”

Cognitive dissonance. I’m lost for words.

Wasn’t Roshi the guy with the turtle shell? Turtles all the way down.

I’m waiting for Krillen to be a seven foot giant.

Holy shit, I agreed with Wilfredo about something! Just looking at the car and helmet of the guy in Speed Racer was enough for me. I’m embarassed at our society for making something like that.

It’s a sign of the Apocalypse!

Correct. And he was COOL. Not just for being a funny, if perverted, old guy, but because he could actually pull his weight if needed!

At least until the King Piccolo arc where he suffers the fate shared by all shounen side characters. Which is also coincidentally the same arc that they’re using as the plot for this movie. And for those of you who don’t remember that arc took place right after the second tournament arc which concluded with Goku losing to that three eyed bald dude (basically my point was that at this point of the series Goku was still 14 years old and that actor looks a little too old to be 14).

At least this can’t possibly be any worse than that other live-action DBZ movie. Amirite?

From my understanding, Krillen’s not in it.

You know what will REALLY be worth watching? When someone splices footage from the Sailor Moon movie with this one and posts it on YouTube. And throw in some Power Rangers while they’re at it. Comedy gold.

I’m still waiting for the pokemon reality movie.

Pokemon: Survivor. In the last episode, Geobro had to eat worms as he didn’t win three days straight. Unbeknownst to him, the Pikachu tribe is ready to attack. dramatic music

Ah, reality movie.

Speaking of Anime adaptations, guess what else is coming down the pipeline?

Robotech!

Seriously.

It’s still at the “script stage”, mind you. And in Hollywood, a script can float around for years before it gets made… on the other hand, it’s being written by the guy who wrote the Empire Strikes Back and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom screenplays. So, it might actually be good. And robots seem to be popular these days…

I think … Y’know what, I’m just going to reserve my judgment on this. The concept has already been fucked up worse, for one thing (admittedly not by Hollywood, but!), and for another, to paraphrase Ford Prefect, “In an infinite universe, anything is possible. Even success.”

My point is … if it turns out to be crap, nobody will be surprised. If it turns out to be awesome, then this will be a Good Thing (and it will be inevitable that some diehard fans will lambast it simply for not being the original Dragonball manga/anime). If it turns out to be awesome for all the wrong reasons, well, so much the better.
