Alright, kinda disgusting, but I’m disturbed and I need help.
I don’t know why, but my penis, at the end of the foreskin and on the head (surrounding the urethra) seem to have a filmy substance on them, causing it to… crinkle, for lack of a better word. It seems to crunch together, and pushing it together (further up) makes it hurt, although pulling it back doesn’t. I’ve no idea what it is, nor what caused it, but it’s a painful annoyance and a general distraction. Any ideas on how to get rid of it?
I highly suggest trying to give yourself a serious washing of the “area” that is bothering you. Do NOT use any kind of scrubbing pads or washcloths (doctor gave me that advice over a similar situation once) but lather up some body wash and use your hands.
Like Curtis said, if it doesnt go away, thats when you should start worrying. At one point, I got a rash that I was really worried about but it turns out that it was only because my girlfriend and I had sex, then didnt bathe (we did it in the back of her car before going to see a movie) and the next morning, the cum had dried onto my skin and caused a rash.
Now, I’m not suggesting that you may have a similar problem, but rather that its perfectly possible that theres no REAL problem (like my above experience).
But definately, wash it off, wait and see. Then consult a physician if nothing changes.
Try showering more often, or washing your penis after you masturbate, or don’t masturbating as often. There’s few possibilities regarding the nature of the “filmy” substance.
What are the circumstances under which this started occuring? Also, I what I’d want to know is that if you should wash it_thorougly_ and if it were to get off, does it come back spontaneously? If it gets off, does it hurt? Itch? Burn? What’s the color before and after? Have you had any kind of similar skin conditions elsewhere on your body?
After having unprotected sex (and that’s if you trust the person not to have anything), my advice is to take a shower in the near future (you AND the girl). Otherwise, you might get a skin rash (nothing to worry about, but it can be scary if you don’t know what it is, and not to mention highly uncomfortable) and the girl might get UTI’s and yeast infections (which will hurt hurt like hell).
You’re not describing any STD that I’m aware (and that’s from what I interpret the details you’re giving, so don’t take my saying that as a sure fire statement).
I’m wondering if this is the appropriate place to have this discussion. If you want to discuss this further, let’s shoot for PMs.
Well, before I go to another shower, let me shoot off a few quick replies, but this will be my last (and public, just because it involves replies to several people) before I start PMs if needed.
There’s no sex involved for me (yea yea, sad), but masturbation’s not out of the question, though I showered immediately after I did the last time, so I don’t think that’s possible in this case.
It doesn’t itch, but it is a bit painful, even if just left hanging. It’s the normal color unless the foreskin is pulled back, in which case it becomes a bright red and a bit shiny.
And as far as I can recall, I’ve never had a rash or any other kind of outbreak, so yea…
Thanks all for the help.
Ninja edit: Cless, I shower at least once a day, and have done so twice in a day for the past several.
Shower edit: Washing with soap (well, moisturizing body wash, but same difference, I suppose) seems to have gotten rid of most of it, though it’s not completely 100% normal feeling, but it looks normal.
Wait and see indeed. I honestly think its contact dermatitis, but I’m not a licenced clinician (yet) and its never good to make a diagnosis without having seen your patient (no I don’t want this to get more personal :P).
Any an urologist has much more knowldge on the topic than anyone here in the board. And you’ve gotta have some consideration for people who put their lives into medicine. What point is there to being a doctor if people with health problems don’t go seeing them?
Although I guess this is a general given for consulting a physician, try to think of any changes you’ve made recently that might play into this. Have you changed your diet at all?, etc.
Well, I went to the doctor’s today. He basically told me to leave it alone, just apply a moisturizing cream (Eucerin) or Vaseline to ease the discomfort and see what happens. I’m supposed to call him in a week.
