A new Lunar game?

fanboy senses, tingling Why not?

(and btw, wb :D)

 A new Lunar game! Game Arts comes up with the best battle systems. Lunar’s and Grandia’s are the best I’ve seen.

This is also a reply to Lanyx who asked the question first. And thanks for welcoming me back Devillion. As for why i didn’t like the DS, some reasons I am unclear on, but other I am very clear on and those I will list here:

  1. It seems too cheaply made (in my opinion). The case reminded me of those fake Gameboys you get at the supermarket checkout line that are filled with gum or candy. This could have just been the display.

  2. The console had been in the store for a grand total of 24 hours and was already scratched. Now, I realize that children go through there and screw around with things and that some teenagers will go into stores and try to ruin things, but it should have lasted longer than that. My original Gameboy was kicked across a 15 ft. room into a wall and stomped on by my angry 4 year old nephew and went on to work perfectly for another 6 years (although the battery door was always hard to open and shut).

  3. The game that was in one of the demo consoles was Metroid:Hunters, and it was terrible, at least for pick up and play. Although, I admit this may have been the fault of the store for picking a slightly too complicated title to use as a demo. They were probably just trying to show off. In my brief experience with the game, I found the controls hard to figure out and couldn’t make Samus in morph ball form jump a scant distance of one and a half times the heighth of the morph ball, or have her roll along the track for further than a morph ball length without rolling off because of non-intuitive controls.

  4. The other demo system was running the wireless chat software that allows you to communicate with other DS’s in a certain area and using the stylus and the lower touchpad, allows you to “write” notes to other people. I found that either I don’t write heavy-handed enough, or the touchpad is not sensitive enough to read my writing, and considering that I can see the impression of what I have written for several sheets of paper below it in a stack, I don’t think it is the former. Unfortunately, there was not another DS that was set up for messaging in the vicinity so I didn’t get to try that feature out. I also tried to save what I wrote, and couldn’t figure it out and gave up after about a minute of futility.

All in all, I see this as a great concept, but not great implementation. I wish I had liked it better, because I would love to have an excuse to buy Mario 64 and carry it around all the time.

Hmmm. Valid reasons, I could respect that.

1: This is a matter of opinion, and I actually see where you are coming from. However, sheer aesthetics do not a system make, but that is my opinion.

2: Keep in mind that the touch screen was MEANT to be touched. This is coupled with idiots who intentionally cause this kind of damage knowing that the touchscreen is meant to be used, and target it specifically. And these days, 24 hours is all it takes for idiots to arrive

3: I concede and yet argue. Hunters was not pick-up-and-play, at least as far as demoing goes. But, I gave it a shot and the controls DO work after you get used to them. It felt like a hybrid of console and fps control, in the good way (hint; use the pen stylus for hunters. Improved performance dramatically). So, yeah, for a quick demo, hunters was the wrong game, but once you figure it out it actually does use the screen very well.

4: I havent tried the writing software yet, but keep point 2 in mind; that screen was likely damaged. The unit I played on was undamaged hence why my impressions are a bit different.

No, not a flame before you misinterpret, your own points were valid, but I felt the need to state counterpoints :stuck_out_tongue:

I absolutely respect your opinion, and believe your points were valid as well, and your post was not a flame.

Wow, guess you DS doubters really ate crow.

You revive a four year old thread to brag about DS sales? o_O
