You guys suck...congrats! (A Dissertation on Coloring Books)

D: ?

I know this thread is now about coloring books, but I simply wanted to explain that Daeus got into the British Army because he was born in Dublin, which is the Republic of Ireland. Thus a sovereign country to Britain. Also he doesn’t have the massive amount of rage against England that most Irishmen have. He’s very quiet and relaxed and easy going.

Also, I’d like to take a moment to point out that I am not rage at this board, and joined it half to be with my friend, half to find someone to roleplay with, but I utterly forgot about this place, to be completely honest.

I apologize for the mix up, should there have been one, and I also apologize that things had to end with my friend here in such a fashion.

And to remain on topic, I still color in coloring books. Yay childhood.

Well, I hope at least YOU have fun here.

Did anyone else used to make paintings in Kindergarten? That’s not coloring books, but I always liked the paintings better.

I coloured the England parts Red and the Ireland parts Green!

EDIT: I didn’t get to make painting paintings until first or second grade. Finger-painting was so much fun, though!

I used to paint the most absurdly abstract shit and call it things like “Super Mario Bros 2.” I could have been revolutionary.

You actually colored outside the lines. You included Wales and Scotland as part of England. Do you reject national boundary lines as well as societal norms?

In my kindergarten, half of crafts time was us gettin yelled at to stop eatin’ paste.
The rest was crayons, we werent trusted with paint/markers yet

It was a statement on the importance of political lines of power, more than national boundaries; because they are subservient to the authority of England, they serve the same government and funnel into the same military, arguably tragically perpetuating the same empire that takes away their national sovereignty, or even identity, in more extreme cases. It is used to show the stark contrast between Ireland’s true independence, with its own government and military showing it was able to escape the power system the British Empire, and the nations of Scotland and Wales, who have control exerted over them by a power outside of their own nations. The names are covered by the colour to show that individual nations are trumped by an overarching system of power and control in the homogenized world of imperialism.

I saw an exhibit at the Creationist museum the showed humans living alongside dinosaurs and had even tamed some to ride.

If it’s in a museum it must be true.

Yeah, I did that, with like an easel and everything. But it was only primary colors and fat brushes, which are good for 4-5 year olds. I know someone who still has her first kindergarten painting framed on her wall. It’s the coolest shit ever.

I saw that museum one time when I was making fun of ‘18 kids and counting.’

You went there? You know that, people didnt ever, ever ride dinosaurs right?

Sacrasm really is hard to convey on a forum.

I never really went there. And I know people never rode dinosaurs. And the bible never mentions dinosaurs. Not even in passing when talking about Noah’s Ark.

I imagine then that the Northern Ireland text wasn’t scrawled over because it was the middle of the ocean. While you may wish to show the overarching political hegemony and its control over “independent” nations, you did not want to go about it to such a degree that would be geographically incorrect. Had you colored over the Northern Ireland text, you would have in effect been creating land.

I knew it wasnt in the actual Bible. I do wonder, however, why some Christians believe they were there (as seen in the coloring book page).

Precisely. It would insinuate a dominance over nature by political forces, which still hasn’t been truly achieved.

I think it’s to form a defense against people who use dinosaur bones as an example of proof that evolution exists. In most cases creationists would say that God put them there to test people’s faith. That was a half-thought answer at best so now they have something else to get behind.

Glad to see everyone’s posting again.

984: Since this thread is about coloring, is there anyway you make this thread only appear tutti fruity? :stuck_out_tongue:

Unfortunately, no, not that I know.

I’m loading this in Tutti Frutti in this thread’s honor. Oh Jesus… the PAIN!

Proof of dinosaurs and man living side by side before the global flood (which killed all but the 8 people and 30 million species of animals that were on Noah’s ark):

Job 40
15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.
17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.
18 His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.
19 He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.
20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
21 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
22 The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.
23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
24 He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.

And now, feel free to color the dinosaur that Job was speaking of:
