X-Men: Children of the Atom

Not only can you play as Thanos, but a Sentinel as well. He shoots a giant laser out of his mouth using the strong punch button that I gave the ultimate cheap attack of all time.

Vic, Sentinel’s in CotA too.

I personally prefer Marvel vs. Capcom, but CoTA is still pretty cool.

Does he have that cheap beam attack as a strong punch? I hate, hate, hate that attack!

If I recall correctly, it didn’t have it as a standard punch, but it was a special move.

Yeah, but his medium kick is a bombing kick, and his strong punch is a double missile attack.

I haven’t played it before, but it looks good, and by your reviews, I think I might get it.

Pathetic. I can find more cheapness in my finger than in that beam.

Hmm.

AHVBx3. Now that’s cheap (Stands for Air Hyper Viper Beam times 3) and yes, that’s doable.

c.HP xx FP Rocket Punch xx Hyper Sentinel Force - c.HP xx FP Rocket Punch … and so on and so forth.

Now that’s a bit cheap. Let us not enter into fast fly combos, Magneto’s resets, Storm’s runaway game and the Strider/Doom trap.

Nightcrawler and Angel should be in that game. Theyd whoop some serious ass.

First of all, they based themselves off characters which would be somewhat popular in Japan (Capcom made the game, so of COURSE they’d ask for popular characters and known ones, NC isn’t as well known, and he’s popular for only a niche of people. The Silver Samurai was only there because they needed a villain)

Should I get X-Men: Children of the Atom, Street Fighter Alpha, or SNK Vs. Capcom 2… or marvel vs capcom 2?

I’d go with MvsC 2.

Definitely Marvel vs. Capcom 2. I’ve poured 30 hours of my life into it and still haven’t unlocked everything.

Following that logic, get neither. Get PSO :stuck_out_tongue:

I agree, Nightcrawler is the best of the X-Men.

Also, COTM is CPS2 based. As an arcade emulation enthusiast, I recall when and how the CPS2 games were cracked, and that was one of the first ones done. It’s playable on Final Burn, Mame, and a variety of other arcade emulators. If you’re looking for a more legit way to play, it was on Sega Saturn (also, a dumbed down, slowed down, sucked up version appeared on PSX).

I know it is. But MvC2 isn’t. That’s the problem.

Oh, I see. Sorry, misread that. MvC2 is in fact newer hardware. I think they call it CPS3, if I’ve heard correctly. The ROM is available now via several usenet groups and irc channels, but, as X said, it’s unplayable in any emu. Though the Xbox and DC versions are pretty up to snuff, if you want to play it at home now. The PS2 version is pretty lacking as far as graphics are concerned, and it mysteriously erased my save file for no apparant reason.

Only good 2D fighting games for PS2: Guilty Gear X series. I think the mysterious erasing of MvsC2 data that has happened to a few people I know proves my point.

2-D fighters on PS2

-Guilty Gear X (Crap-ass port of arcade version, the Japanese got MUCH better)
-Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (Crap-ass port of arcade version)
-Capcom vs. SNK 2 (Too unbalanced, Sagat and Blanka own that game)
-Guilty Gear X2 (The best one.)

Now, as far as the emulation board MvC2 runs on, it’s the NAOMI. The last known game on the CPS3 was Street Fighter 3 : Third Strike (which I play and love in MTL). All Capcom games after 3rd Strike were on the NAOMI 1.

If you’re wondering why Virtua Fighter 4 : Evolution looks better than SC2, it’s because it runs on the NAOMI 2 instead of the NAOMI 1 which VF4, the original, ran on.
