I just watched the first episode of this anime.
It is confusing.
Anybody else seen it? And How many episodes is it?

X is one of those very good and very strange series. The plot basically revolves around the battle of the apocalypse and the people who will fight it. In the world of X there are two great powers, the Dragon of Heaven who is the protector of the world, it represents faith in the human race and the desire for stability, the other side is the Dragon of Earth, it represents change and the desire to protect the earth by removing those who are destroying it (humans).
Fighting for these two factions are the seven seals (Dragon of Heaven) who must protect the great physical barriers that hold this world together and the seven angels (Dragon of Earth) who must destroy these barriers. Caught it the middle of this is Kamui, he too is a figure in the last battle, but unlike the others who actually has a choice in what he becomes, he can either become a Dragon of Earth and break the world or he can become a Dragon of Heaven and save it.
X/1999 is a strange series, you never really know where they’re going, but when they get there you always realize that is was actually perfectly logical and you smack yourself for not seeing it coming. You get a lot of little teasers long the way, flashes to the future or strange dreams, so you know what’s coming, but the fun part is what leads up to what’s coming. Its a very dark, but somewhat hopeful series, all along it goes on about how people have a destiny, that we are all bound to one fate, one path, that even if we see the future we can’t do anything to change it, but in the middle of all this you have Kamui, a man who’s given two futures and a choice, but neither of these choices is very appealing and both will lead to great suffering for him and those around him.
I really can’t tell you anymore about the plot without dropping spoilers like crazy and since the whole fun of X is the fact that the story constantly keeps you guess I’d be ruining the series for you. What I can tell those of you who saw the movie (not a very good movie at that) and are afraid of watching the series because you already know how it will end then you’re in luck, they changed the ending for the tv series, but its not a drastic change so it still works very well with the story, but its big enough that you won’t see it coming.

Ep 1 is sooo confusing… why did the girl dream that Kamui would come back?
And then he did, although he looked kinda angry.
And then the scene where Kamui was near the train station and a bunch of men in black popped up, and Kamui just looked at them and they died.
Kamui is so cool.
Like I said, X/1999 is a series where you often get flashes of things that are going to happen, I can’t tell you why Kotori had a dream that Kamui was coming back because its a spoiler. You’ll see flashes like that everynow and then, the important thing you have to remember is that everything that you see happening in the future will happen, but never the way you expected it, characters in the scene will change, the setting will move, but if it is destined to happen it will always happen.
Even if episode 1 is confusing you should still stick to it, they give you some explenations later on as to what is really going on, and believe me you need them sometimes, everyone seems to have their own agenda and its rarely the one you think they have. Again its a great series well worth your time, and if there’s anything you don’t understand after you finish watching it just ask and I’ll be happy to explain it to you.
