lol, I listened to these actually expecting to hear somthing great on the Japanese side with how much you talked it up… Unfortunately, she sounds whiney, squeeky, and… well steriotypical Japanese.
While the english voice actress sounds stupid as shit, I’d still rather hear her than her Japanese counter-part. Sorry, I just hate japanese female voices. I’d like to hear somthing different… at least once in a while… please.
That voice is great. Every time I hear it, it’s like being in heaven. I can’t understand how you could dislike her voice, but I promise you, the English dub of J to X is ALL bad. Imagine a million fingernails being scraped across a giant chalkboard all at once, and that’s about what it does to my ears when I hear it.
[EDIT] And I fixed it for you, since that was obviously a mistake:

Shinryu, please wrap your mind around the idea that people can disagree with you. In life, it will happen with amazing frequency. There are people who do not like the shows you like, the music you like, the people you like, or the ideas you like. This may seem incomprehensible to you, as incomprehensible as your liking it is to them. Accept it as a fact of life and move on.
Sorry, it’s just… Cherry is so perfect in every way, it just baffles me as to how someone could dislike something about her. About anyone or anything else, it’s not a problem, but for Cherry…
Anyway, back to the topic, another really bad english dub is Saiyuki. While I haven’t heard much of it myself, my friend Shadowbard was quite insistent that I watch it in Japanese first. (I always do)
TBH, though, the english dubs for SMJ kinda turned me off of the whole english scene. Because of it, I have a lot of trouble bringing myself to even give it a chance. Regardless, I think that anime should be watched in the language it was originally made in.
Am I the only person here who prefers Japanese dubs? Seems so. (rhetorical question)
You’re definitely not the only person in existence who likes subs better than dubs. 8p We just had this discussion on the main forum. The consensus around this board seems to be that most of us like good English dubs and most of us don’t like bad ones. I personally loved the Slayers dub, for example. I actually haven’t seen too many dubs, because I have a tendency to download anime rather than buy it (I don’t like buying things which I’ll probably only watch once… if I could rent it it’d be a different story). But I’ll still prefer dubs if they’re well done, if only for the fact that I can focus on the screen rather than having to keep reading lines in between.
Thats’s what I meant. It seems like, around here, I’m the only person who’ll watch subs no matter how good the dubs are. Oh well. To be honest, I don’t think any dubs are very good. With the exception of Outlaw Star, which is the only dub I actually prefer, and only because I was forced into watching the dub before I could see the sub and it seems weird now, and Slayers Premium was a decent dub because the way they all did the voices made the thing seem funnier. But I still prefer Japanese on that one.
I’ll say it again:
I’ve lost faith that anyone who speaks English will ever have a decent voice.
