Worst ending.

I just finished Halo 2 and man that ending is disappointing. It is no where near as challenging or climatic as Halo 1. Not only that, but it ends with a bad cliffhanger. It isn’t a cliffhanger where new stuff information is revealed and you want to find out what happens next (like MGS2), it is cliffhanegr that just sort of interupts a scene. It’s like “What are you doi…The End” Almost literalyl word for word. What the fuck kind of ending is that. At the end of Halo 1 things ended, but still left you wanting more. Halo 1 ended with you knowing that area, but you know that it is just one battle and that there are many to come. Halo 2 ends in the middle of the battle. Also, the race against the flood through the Pillar of Autum against the Flood and the Convenant. In Halo2 you do that classic game thing and fight a boss and that is it. The boss is easy as hell too which makes it worse. Man, so disappointing. Any of you guys beat it?

“Mission Crtitical” Staring Michael Dorn (ST:TNG) and Patacia Charbonneau (Robocop2). The whole Adventure Game is a Flop, the ending was some thing like, I went to the Future, and changed it for the better.

It’s an 96 release, so it a Dos Game with Windows 95 autorun/install on the CD.

Big Nutter
For those who want to know it can be done in 2 sessions. I did it in a week.

LOL, when I read the title I knew this was about Halo2… hahaha, thats great.

It was like “WTF? THAT’S the end boss?” Plus I didn’t like how you finished the game as the Arbiter. What the hell was that all about?

I don’t think that Halo 2’s ending was all that bad, but that’s only because Halo2 didn’t even have an ending. It just kinda ended right before the second to last level.

Who the heck plays Halo2 for the single player?

(on that same note, hit me up at devillion if you wanna throw something down over live)

People who want to be able to discuss how the ending was pure shit play Halo 2’s single player.

Seriously. I didn’t liek the big focus on the Convenant. Also, why do we finish the game as them? Master Chief is the hero of the series. I also didn’t like the radical changes between the humans and the Convenant, it hurt the flow. The Convenant would have been good for a level or two and the multiplayer, but not a majority of the game.

While I can’t say a word about the plot ending (which proves to me that Halo has become a cash cow series and the purity of mercilessly slaughtering your friends in power-armor has become tainted by the blatantly commercially oriented ending of Halo2), I can find lots of room to argue against this part of your statement

Maybe I am just handicapped or something, but the chieftain is unholy tough to kill. Yeah, on normal and easy mode the battle is a joke, but try fighting him on Legendary. If you already have faught and beat him in legendary mode, please tell me what I have to do to not get my squid-faced arbiter ass handed back to be with a big mallet, which I have started calling “Mr. Fuck You Up.” Seriously, three sticky grenades and four beam rifle shots to the head (all with his shields down) didn’t take that fugly monkey down.

Why is it ANY suprise to people that Bungee’s game, endorsed by microsoft and singularly developed for the X-Box would have turned into a cash cow knowing how popular it is? They will drag this bitch out for all it is worth. Square hasnt stopped pumping out final fantasy games even though many “Hardcore fans” dont like them, while many others do… Capcom didnt stop making megaman games… They just started getting really shitty… And I highly doubt that Bungee will quit making Halo games now that they have the fans by the balls.

I know, I know, but I’m still allowed to be sad about it.

I don’t know what you had, but when I had him, I had the shotgun (I love the human weapons). I managed to save about 30 shotgun rounds and after the guys around him were dead, I just kept my distance and took shots at him. I haven’t got up to Legendary though. Easy through hard are about the same though. Also, look at Halo 1’s ending. You had to avoid the Flood while timing accurate throws into the places. Then you had out run the Convenant and the Flood while being timed. This was much harder and more interesting than Halo 2’s ending. Halo 2’s ending has been done a million times in some of the first FPSes. It isn’t too different from Doom’s ending where you just unload all you have on the final bad guy. After the cleverness of Halo’s ending, Halo 2’s shoot the bad guy was lame and easy since it has been done a million times before.

Also, Halo hasn’t degenerated into a cash-cow. It is only a sequel, it will be awhile before the next game. The game had a Matrix Reloaded sort of ending. The Matrix ended with Revolutions, if you just go by the movie’s, it isn’t a cash-cow. The same with Back to the Future 2. It ended with more questions, but besides the movies, there wasn’t really anything to it. Halo 2 has problems, but it hasn’t become a cash-cow. If they started to release them every couple of months, it could be considered a cash-cow, but not at 2 games with the hint of a third. Hell, at the end the Master Chief says that he is going to finish the fight. Halo 3 could be the end of the series. Halo 2 may not be as good as Halo 1 and have a bad ending, but it is still a very good game.

Okay, I admit to that one, it isn’t a very original fight at the end of it all. Its still freuking impossible though. And I disliked what they did with the Matrix also, so meh. And ultimately the rest of the game doesn’t matter as long as there is still online multiplayer which involves fighting 15 other combatants with headsets in a small map. Oh the carnage is so beautiful.

Halo 2 has an ending?

Nope, that’s precisly the problem.

On legendary, you can take advantage of the dumb AI. Get a full carbine, I’m serious. Use the little beam lift thingy, and launch yourself on top of those pillars on the highest level. If you go to the right one, you can look down at Mr. Monkey looking back at you. Sarge takes his shields down, and you unload into him. It’s easy, but takes a while thanks to the Monkey’s reenforcements.

I will never forgive Tales of Phantastia for being such a fantastic game and having such a sucky ending.

Thats the tactic we’ve been trying around the dorms here, I suppose it just takes more perfecting.

This reminds me of when one of my friends beat…uhhhm…Chrono…Chrno…trigger of something.

He said after he beat the last boss the game just ended. Although, I heard something about a secret ending thing sooo…

Ok, about Halo 2, could someone tell me in more detail what happened? I’m just interested and I won’t be able to play it for a long time anyways…

The short version is that throughout the game, there are two stories running parallel. The one story ends with a very implausable alliance and a cheesy boss fight. The other story seems to drop off like it had before but instead of being picked back up for the real last level, they give you a cinematic of the hero stowing away on the enemy ship that is headed towards the task of killing humanity.

Maybe if they had done the last levels in a different order it might not have felt so bad, or if there had been a longer scene to explain the origin of the alliance, or maybe if they had let us play the last level of the original storyline, it might not have been so bad.

Its not even a good cliffhanger. Its an anticlimatic bleh.
