Working Design

Whatever happened to the great company that brought us the Lunar remakes?

I dunno. They also brought along Vanguard Bandits too. But I’m quite curious myself, now that you mention it.

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> They’re working on <a href=“http://www.workingdesigns.com/games/playstation2/growlanser_generations/index.html”>Growlanser Generations</a>.

They’re currently translating Growlanser 2 and 3 for a PS2 release available whenever they’re done with it (Meaning anywhere from next month to 2009).

Edit: Dammit TD beat me to it.

They have a website Sinistral  Last updated, December 31st, 2003. So yeah, it’s still alive and kickin

was looking for workingdesign.com

:fungah:

Ah we need more localization-only inspired companies to prevent awesome games from seeing the light of the western world… but it troubles me they didn’t include Growlanser 1 in their new package :frowning:

Working Designs pwns. I loved all thier Sega CD games (Even Vay) and liked most of thier PS1 games (Elemental Gearbolt was fun).

Ah yes, im quite the fan of the lunar series. There was a rumor going around that they were working on lunar 3 for gamecube, but im pretty sure thats dead now

Last I heard Game Arts (makers of Lunar and Grandia) were now part of SquareEnix? I dunno how true is that, hope it’s not true at all. I already have to live with the sadness of knowing Quest was technically absorbed by Square :stuck_out_tongue:

Ha. Speaking of which, I RENTED Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete at Blockbuster. Very nice game…

Last Cetra: A portion of Game Arts was owned by Enix before the merger, so yes, it’s technically true :stuck_out_tongue: This is why the recent Grandia releases all had Enix logos on them :stuck_out_tongue:

Nooooooo… when will the small good companies be left alone :sob:
Anyway I presume this cancels the possibilty of Working Designs gaining the license to localizate another Lunar game? Probably SquareEnix would want to do it themselves now (or not, what is even more scary…)

Maybe, maybe not. In the past few years, Working Designs released Silpheed and Guniron Griffon for PS2, which are both Game Arts games. Enix (Or Square-Enix rather) doesn’t own all of Game Arts.

Gungriffon Blaze… that was a fun little game.

Well they’d still be fools if they didn’t care to put their label on such a great title. Honestly it’s worth allocating their staff more than whatever they’re working on (unless they’re making a new Ogre Battle game I haven’t heard off  ).

I personally still like the original sega CD version better =)

Didn’t they do Thousand Arms and Rhapsody?

What? Yes, I played Rhapsody.

…What?

What’s wrong with playing Rhapsody? It’s actually an ok game…its got a VERY odd plot…oh, and battleing and spells and stuff is weird…but its still an ok game!

Yes, they are currently working on Growlanzer Generations. But for a period of about 4-5 months, there were no updates at all aside from RPGCritic reviews.

Speaking of which, the guys at WD are really nice people. I called them once to place an order for a player’s guide, and me and one of the receptionists had a nice little talk about RPGs and stuff, and then I told her my email address, and we started joking around about Dalton and Chrono Trigger and things like that.

And I love their translations, and especially their fan support. Look at how the Lunar games were packaged, for instance.
