No they aren’t. Hardcore is an adjective that could describe anything, not a genre of music. You’re in the classification of people who group songs so specifically that each song has it’s own genre.

I’m not too sure about that. I don’t really care if I come off as a punk or whatever, but my main talent in life is language. I can write very well when I want to, and seeing people completely misuse words of any sort pisses me off, and I will correct them. People misusing words that happen to describe something I know a good deal about will frustrate me even more. I would probably have a reply much like Damage’s if I knew more about hardcore music, and had seen that result.

if Emocore is a general category then metalcore is one too. even though emocore has been around a bit longer, Metalcore has a larger scene than emo (in the Netherlands/Belgium that is, and No, the US doesn’t set standards for the rest of the world ).

EDIT:What the fuck is ska?
Ska was originally fast-paced, more beat-oriented reggae that usually had a political nature. Some of Bob Marley’s work is early ska, as is much of Desmond Dekker’s music, and (obviously) the Skatalites’. Ska later became a fusion between rock and reggae (which it kinda already was, but that isn’t the point.) When punk rock came, it fit the ska attitude perfectly, and thus most modern ska is a cross between punk and reggae.
As for the blues, I’ll do that later. Someday. Maybe.
