I don’t think I’ve written any poems like this before. Let me know if you like it:
White Wind
The soft tones of breaking dawn rouse me from
A dreamless repose. This morning recalls
Fading memories I rarely recall.
I had never seen you in the morning.
The well-rested mind remains motionless.
Thoughts, dreams, and memories linger quietly.
I blink, and still expect you to vanish.
I wipe my eyes, but you’re still standing here.
Have I awoken? Let me stay like this.
You are gazing peacefully at something.
I am as well, though I still can’t see it.
Somewhere, not far, a white wind blows softly.
Really like it, it has a nice, lingering quality to the words, as a representation, I think, of his memories. And a softly blowing wind lingers too. Overall, very good.
I have to admit, the first thing that came to mind when I saw the title was: Isn’t that the name of a healing spell in a video game? :fungah: I’m sorry!
All in all, it’s a very nice poem. Very relaxed, and, dare I say it?, happy. There’s a quiet joy pervading the lines. It made me feel like I was just getting up in the morning or something.
My only problem with it would be you use the word ‘recall’ twice in the same sentence (over two lines). “This morning recalls / Fading memories I rarely recall.” They’re a bit too close together to flow well, but I can’t think of an alternate word choice at the moment…
Nice poem though! I have to say I liked it!
