That post made no sense. It hurts me.
Final Fantasy 7 was hard for me when I fist played it. Mainly because it was the second RPG I had ever played.
I’m tierd basicly if you move one square to another you might end up with far stronger enemies.
How was FF10 hard? I truly cannot remember struggling at all in that game, ever. Yet alot people on various ocasions claimed that the final boss was difficult. I don’t see the problem though.
As an extra note, FF1 was rough because of the level 50 cap. When I got to the temple of chaos, the fights were plenty hard enough for me. And chaos himself was JUST challenging enough to make the game worthy of the title “Hard”. But thats just me. Other people probably consider 1 easy, but that’s a boastful statement.
Yunalesca was a bitch for me. It took me several tries to figure out just how I should leave some characters in zombie status, and for how long, and some characters out, and for how long. Otherwise it was pretty easy. I got the magus sisters, and forget about it.
Hardest FF?
FF I:it’s the only FF that have never beaten i hated all the power leveling or almost if not all dungeons.
FF IV:i underestimated the hard version since i played easy type for a long time when i was younger.
Did you notice that the Final Fantasy games without classes are a lot easier. For example in 4 you had classes and the game was really hard, while in FFX everybody could learn everything and the game was really easy.
Hardest FF
I’d Have to go with Tactics on this. The first time I played it, I fought Izlude horribly underleveled and he spanked me. Also the fact that Random encounters level with you(as well as FFTA) and Velius was one tough son of a bitch. The fight with Wiegraf and Ramza one on one was also tough the first time, but the second time around, I made Ramza a Lancer and just kept jumping on him.
Honorable Mention goes to FF1. Only FF I have never beaten(besides 8, which I didn’t get the chance to play more than 3 hours into until my memory card permanently corrupted) And I will second RPT’s statement about FF1
Lack of classes wasn’t what made X easy, it was that the bosses were relatively easy compared to the other games in respect to how much stronger than regular enemies they were.
They definitely began to lose difficulty with FF6, but a least there are some instances in that game where, at a low level, my party can still die. In FF7-10 it always seemed easier to be more prepared then leveled, thus with the right spells/items and such you could make a seemingly tough boss a piece of cake without paying much attention to your levels. Then there’s the whole limits/trance/overdrive thing that made for cheap attacks (FF8, I’m lookin’ at you). Granted, in FF6 you had those powerful desperation attacks/near-fatal moves, but those were so random and few and far between that it’s possible to go through ten playthroughs without ever seeing a single character pull one off.
None was hard to me at the first time i played but the second time i lost myself in FF6 X___X
FFX wasn’t easy because of that. It took AGES for people to learn everything. I’m past the 80 hour mark and only some of my characters have completed a little over half of the spheregrid.
When you play FF games, do you try the sidequests? Some of the sidequests i find hard. If i remember correctly, i think i never got the legendary weapon, Caladbolg for Tidus.
…
I still don’t see what was so hard about the Caladbolg quest. I diod it on the third or fourth try.
I haven’t played FFX but I have yet to find a more nerve-wreaking and frustrating side quest than Chocobo Hot and Cold. And for some odd masochist reason I absolutely love that thing.
The reason FFX was rather easy was probably due to the fact that you could level up incessantly in front of any save point, and should you take any damage, you could easily heal up. Using this technique, you could run into any boss battle with full Overdrive gauges for all of your characters and decimate any boss in no time.
And the hidden Arena bosses… for those who haven’t taken them on yet, know that they aren’t “difficult” or “hard” to beat. They take a long, long time to prepare for statwise, but when the actual battle begins, quite a few of them can be taken down in one hit if you know what you’re doing. And with a high Agility stat and the Quick Hit skill, you can manage to pull off nearly 30 physical attacks before the boss even gets a chance to move. This will most likely charge your Overdrive again. 8P
Hmm…Lemme see.
FF1, I didn’t find particularly hard…I got to maybe level 30-ish when I beat it. I found there is an easy level up place right outside the second town, so I leveled up a grippe there, and just sped through the rest of the game til the end…of course, the last two dungeons, I got my ass kicked a lot, but the bosses weren’t hard enough to take me out. Chaos I hear is very random in diffuculty; he was very easy for me, but I’ve heard he goes apeshit sometimes.
FF2, while I loved it, is what Cid calls ‘bad hard.’ I don’t know if I can truely consider a bad hard game to be really tough. You’re either destroying or being destroyed it seems. The last boss was kinda tough, though
FF3. This is actually a pretty tough game, nothing more to be said.
FF4…Maybe it’s cos this is my favorite FF, but I found that Hardtype was still pretty easy. It was HARDER, sure…but if you knew good tactics in FF4 easytype, they still worked in FF4 hardtype as long as you were on top of things and your level was good.
FF5. This one…hmm. It can be really easy if you bitch out bosses, cos there’s a cheap and easy way to beat just about every boss, but, if you just go through it mastering one different job at a time with everyone, it’s kinda hard. You might need a certain proficiency in a certain job to beat a boss with ease, and if you don’t have it, you’re in trouble. In the middle of the game, I can remember finishing just about every boss with only Butz left…Even the first time you fought Ex-Death That fight took 40 minutes for me to beat cos of my lame strat, lol
FF6 was hard when I first played it, cos i was like, 9 It’s pretty damn easy now, but you get random pwns. Like, one time I was leaving Zozo (after just the first time you go there), and there are those Brawler lookin’ guys…Well, my friend who I was playing with messed up and didn’t choose a party to leave with, so it was just Locke and Celes…Anyways. They do some random enemy skill that looks like the Throw Stone lore, and it hit both of them for like 1500-ish
You don’t even have close to that much HP by then. It was REEEEEETARDED.
FF7, same as FF6. It was hard the first time i played, but afterwards it was easy.
FF8, heh. This game really is pathetically easy until you hit Disc 4…and then if you hadn’t been preparing right, the end bosses will just doominate you. I thought that kinda sucked; I had to actually start over the game on my first try
FF9 was just easy. The last boss was hard if you didn’t protect yourself from status effects, but otherwise, the whole game was like ‘meh’
FF10 This game had decent diffuculty. I liked some of the strategies you were forced to do. Of course, if you sat around for any short amount of time and leveld up, it became really damn easy for the rest of the game…but if you just go through it, it’s fair in diffuculty. I’m not as bonkers with my sphere grid customization as most people are, so it turned out to be a fun game for me in terms of diffuculty.
FF10-2. This game had like, 2 randomly absurdly hard fights, but other than that, it was fair in its diffuculty, unless you used Dark Knights. 1 White Mage + 2 Dark Knights = Beat the Game.
FFMQ might have been easy but I loved it
FFT is really tough the first time you play it…but after that, it’s mostly easy cos you know what jobs to get. It’s a matter of learning what jobs and skills are good. After that, there are still a few hard fights, but nothing too intense.
And, those are the ones I’ve played. I don’t know, maybe FF3j I’d call the hardest. FF5 is like, the hardest for me, but yeah, not in a very fair way, and you can use unfair tactics to your own advantage anyways
So what your saying, is a games difficulty is proportional to what level your on, or how you prepare? No shit, sherlock.
Must people devolve someone’s somewhat drawn-out statment into one coherent and simplistic statement? Well, I guess it gets the point across faster…
Holy crap, I had some troubles with FF8, some parts of it were bad hard because they were just trying to piss me off. Anyone remember the time you were forced to use Zell, Squall, and one other character? Where if you picked Irvine you’d get a pretty cool cutscene, or funny, at least? Yeah, see, that sucked. When they force you to use a character you don’t use, and seeing as how I depended upon GF’s a great deal, and ofr some absurd reason thought I could go outside and get another character, but no, I’m stuck with my team…
Basically, I had to taotally switch out my party, since I orignally brought in Rinoa in place of Irvine, and STILL had a hard time, and don’t even get me on that absurd thing with that Red Dragon battle. My gosh.
Dragons Revenge, you have summed up my emotions on Zeromus perfectly. I have yet to kill him. I will one day…and maybe, one day, I’ll be able to pull off that blitz in FF6 on FF Anthology:(. Would anyone think less of me if they knew I couldn’t take care of Vargas because I don’t have the time right…and haven’t in the last three years or more…>___<
I guess, FF9 was hard, well, at least, it was interesting how they worked it out on Disc 1 and 2.You know, with how the party was split up. It was done VERY well to me. It threw off my whole way of getting through the gameplay. My only healer was gone and now I had to really just live off of potions. Now, it doesn’t help when it’s not done right, but when a party is split up, I think it really adds some depth to it. Then, of course, Garnet rejoins and as long as she keeps toting around her hearling spells, and then Eiko comes around to make it even EASIER, there’s really a low chance of me losing unless she’s dead. The power Garnet had healing people was just absurd to me at some points, especially early in the game.
My first playthrough of FF8 was rather funny. See, I didn’t know how the Junction system worked, and I made it up to Disc 3 without a walkthrough or anything, simply selecting Auto-Junction and being happy with that. To make a long story short, I found myself stuck on the Adel fight for a couple of days while I ran around drawing Cures, refining them into Curas and converting those into Curagas. I just barely won the fight, and don’t get me started on my Ultimecia strategy… let’s just say I ALMOST won.
