What kind of people do you play with?

Well… my group has a pretty standard composition of 6 males at age 17-18, myself included. I’m the dungeon master for most of the time. Group includes some anime fans (3), some scifi-fans (3), and a whole lot of other wacky fan-ism. Humor usually is very toilet-related and people aren’t listening to me. Roleplaying is usually what I begin the game with (for about 30 seconds.) A fun group.

Standard Actions:
“There’s a door!”: Kick the can, pick the lock, check if it’s open, ignore door, ask if the door is magical, listen for noise…
“There’s lo…”: Loot is gone. Most likely to the knight with the long johnson-type weapon
“There’s a barrel with XXX written to it…”: KNight empties the contents to his amazingly large storage of bottles…
“Cleric preaches”: Thief picks his pocket
“Drinking contest”: Lots of con checks, lots of pain… lots of… HANGOVER
“Enemy dies”: Necromancer sacrifices its remains to Wee Jas. He’s gotten a few boons already…
“Knight does critical hit”: GERMAN BUTTOCKS PENETRATION MOVE!
“There’s a book on the table next to the magical bed that the knight just fell asleep onto.”: They hit/kick/tackle/shake/dump him off the bed/poke/huggle the knight for 20 minutes IRL time. Knight (IRL) asks them to listen to me as I CAREFULLY describe the room again…

I used to play with a group whose minds could easily descend into the gutter, who often made all manner of disgusting sexual jokes, who were extremely competitive in game and somewhat insulting out of game. Also the group was very accustomed to playing evil alignments, which was very frustrating to me, since I favour good alignments.

I am no longer friends with these individuals, although I am not on bad terms with them. Because I had a harder time with role-playing games (I am not nearly as witty as they are), they grew tired of me doing stupid things and stopped inviting me to games.

Last time I played D&D I must have been 14. It was still AD&D you see. My group was composed by 5 geeks, me included, who knew simply every rule and even so never used any of them.

As much as overpower and godmoding we tried being, hack-and-slashing only worked half of the time. Because where there’s something big, there is always something bigger, and it applied to our group being big.

Adventures would mostly follow this routine:

Leader (always a warrior): “there’s some treasure in that land. I want it.”
Mage of the Group: “I wanna try my new spells I acquired from last adventure so count me in”
Paladin who lost his powers due to the group being ubber evil and him being so too: “Good, it’ll serve us for more experience”.
Me (the bloodlusty elven warrior): kill, pillage, destroy! (notice that I prefered alternative means of destruction, (i.e.: causing a fire, dropping big boulders from a cliff, etc) rather than the sword to kill.

So we made our way leaving a trail of destruction and taking every valuable we could carry wit us throughout the world. Only thing is, Ressurection didn’t exist in our world and we had to make a new char every month or so since our violence always led to a lot of deaths. The classes I listed were the ones who lasted themost (one semester).

I play with three total idiots. For proof, check the Irony thread I made.

Well, as a player I play with my best friend and his fiancee everytime he comes by from Pennsylvania (though hopefully sometime this year he’ll be moving down here which means more gametime:) ). We usually play AD&D 2nd Edition Core Rules, and what at least stays consistent is that my friend’s fiancee usually plays as the mage devoted to Mystra. Though we play more than one campaign, they’re all usually high level but there’s always a balance of action, puzzle, interaction, and storyline.

As a DM(which I’m still trying to get used to) I play with Kraken, Frameskip, and Jo The Mighty. We’re all playing 3rd edition core rules, they’re still new to the whole RPG deal and I’m still trying to get the hang of DMing, so it’s pretty much a learning experience for us both:p . Still, I’m trying to balance it out between fights, puzzles, and interaction as well as sorta getting them out of a couple nasty habits. So far we have at least 2 campaigns going, one with all 3 of them playing and one with only Frameskip and Jo The Mighty.

I play with about, I’d have to say, 10 (not all in the same group, mind you) different males from ages 15-17. We all share comomon interests, and though our characters may disagree within the game, we all get along on good terms out of it. We tend to get sidetracked a lot, by bringing up humurous events that have occured in previous sessions, so we tend to get less done then planned. As for our characters, each of them has a distinct personality and mannerisms, which makes the game even more fun. We dont always agree, and when we are making a plan of battle, we usually divide and each group does it their own way (i.e recently we completed the Speaker in Dreams campaign, and at the end wewent to the barons house (who was ebing controlled by a mindflayer, which we didnt know yet) and some people wanted to scale the wall, while me (a dwarf barabrian) busted down the front door)

My playing group, I’ll just tell you about the people in general. Our usual playing group.

Tim, he’s probably the smartest of the group, but not when it comes to DnD I’ve killed 5 of his characters(with my character) because of his own stupid actions… He’s still a nice guy.

Terry, a very smart player for DnD, just forgets stuff sometimes.

Matt, a serious player, doesen’t do much thinking for the group.

Our DM, Alex, he has the most knowledge of DnD of all of us. He usually DMs and he is out to kill your characters, I’ve escaped all of his death traps, it’s great.

As for me, I’m not going to boast.

People I play with:

Kyle: he’s a pretty good player now, but that didn’t used to be the case. 12 of his characters died for joining the enemy, alerting the orcs, fighting a powerful fighter as a level 1 mage (a whole 3 hp!), etc.

Alex: Serious player. He really doesn’t do too much, but he really gets into the game…(usually the DM)

Seth: Best guy for fighting and tactics. He usually gets side tracked with killing people to realize what’s going on half of the time.

Zachary: he’s a gnome. We use him as cannon fodder but he hasn’t died yet.

Dustin: The assassin. He kills the party a whole lot, and I’m going to have to kill him.

Joe: He doesn’t pay much attention, but he has some pretty cool equipment.

Me: I’m a mage. (I also am not gonna brag)

Instead of talking about the people, I’ll give some in game advantages.

Someone finds a treasure (anything): Rapier/shukuzen fight between the rouge and the shugenja to see who gets it while the fighter just takes the loot.

The group is attacked by a monster: The shugenja and the rouge argue over whose kill this is. Shugenja whips out her Bayushi Shukuzen +4 and starts smiting stuff at close range. Fighter smacks everything around with his trusty bamboo staff (don’t ask.) Rouge alternates between trying to snipe Shugenja and sniping the monsters.

It’s amusing to play with someone who challenges you to a duel whenever he can. ^.^

I uhh… play online, since my friends in real life are like… not into the sitting thing :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

My ADND game has Maz TG kagon and EZ

They are the best buncha people you could hope for ^^ They pay lotsa attention to the game, though somethings they over look the obvious, their ooc comments make me laugh, and they have really good charater divelipment ^^

Plus they don’t get too upset when I stick them in bed together (:stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: EZ :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :P)

My game though is more like… an RP puzzle game. Not to much fighting, alteast I don’t think so. (They’ve been in like, one battle since the beginning of the game… :P)

I’m in other games too, DN’s DS’ and Maz’s ^^ They are also really cool, and all have really good, diffrent, qualities.

Eden, remember that comment I made about burning the bed? And ehm, real men >_> =P

Yeah, Eden’s game is really good. There’s oly the 4 of us, so we all get to interact with each other (well, we would if we didn’t hate each other :P). I think it’s neat, some of the puzzles. Eden’s a really good DM, too.

Eden, I’m hurt. You didn’t add me to the list of players in your game

I wrote that before you joined? Ya DN is in my game too ^^ So we should see how that works out ^^

EZ, yes I do. But you didnt -actually- do it, so it is all good :stuck_out_tongue:

and thanks ^^ I am glad you enjoy it, or I won’t do it at all, hehe.

What about me, I’m the only player left from the original that has contiously played since the begining.

I play with a varied amount of types… I play with my older sister who knows what she is doing, my bro-in-law(DM, so he better know what he is doing). Both my neices(one catches on fast, the other is still asking how to attack). And my nephew(he rarely plays…he falls asleep, so me and my sister just started taking his character.) Myself…I know what I am doing, I even correct the DM at times…
