what do you like/hate about any Final fantasy

I’m asking what do you like/hate about any Final fantasy and if you could give a rating from 1-10 on how much you like about it…

How about VII? What I like about VII: the story, the characters, the fact that Aerith dies , everything, the fact they made a film, the film, the anime 30 min thingie, the fact they made a anime 30 min thingie, Zack, Red XIII, Cloud and last but really not least…Tifa!

What I hate about VII: Aerith, everything about Aerith, Aerith getting between Cloud and Tifa, in AC Aerith being there, Aerith helping Cloud beat Bahamut, Zack not being there, the way the game is over so soon, the way the film/anime is over so soon…and did I mention Aerith?

I think that should do…

What I dislike the most, in the later ones, is that all the characters are the same: can learn the same spells, get the same stats, use the same special attacks, etc. I like characters to have lots of different innate abilities, so it actually matters whether you choose to use them or not.

I like the Chocobos!, but I dislike FFXI online.

I think chocobos are awsome too, including Choco from FFIX

But I hate the part that you can only lv up to 99 and your hp limit is 9999

Me too! The choco theme from IX is awesome!

And in X, you dont have proper levels and if you get the right equipment, 9999hp is small. The celestial weapons have break damage/mp limit so thats sorted, and you just need to get some Genji/Power armor.

Since everyone always asks me what I dislike about FFVII, I guess I should mention it here: it’s drastically overrated, and the rabid FFVII fanboys (and fangirls) will eat your face off if you ever tell them so. I also dislike the tediously long cut scenes in Kalm and Nibelheim, and the entire Midgar sequence at the beginning. If it weren’t for all of that, I’d probably really like the game.

I thought it was over rated too, until I played it. I wouldn’t like it as much if it wasn’t for Cloud,Tifa,AC and LO, but I would still think it was a good game. And I think the scene in Kalm has to be the longest cut scene that actually has a save point half way through it that I’ve seen

See, I played it before it was over rated. As a former Final Fantasy fanboy (now recovering), I pre-ordered the game and eagerly awaited its release. I truly enjoyed the game my first time though, but those scenes that I mentioned make it incredibly hard for me to play through again. Already knowing the storyline, I don’t particularly want to sit through 2+ hours of cutscene just to “learn” information that I already have. That was the beauty of older games in the series; if you could jam on the A button enough, cut scenes would barely last for 2-5 minutes.

what I hate about ff7 is that there are to many summons and if you have alot of commands it blocks your hp screen.

Plus the auto regan is too slow (regen. whatever)

I like everything in FF games. I like the story, music, character, the world and everything you can do in those games.

Technical issues like that are hardly worth hating a game over. If you don’t like the summons, don’t use them. If you’re playing wisely, you’ll barely need to see your HP screen. If you cast Haste, Regen heals you much faster, for example. The former two are self-inflicted and easily solveable (through either spreading out, or using fewer of your summons/command materia), and the latter is a non-issue if you use your head a little.

Final Fantasy 7, I will say it is a good game, and I do enjoy playing it from now and again. However, there are a number of minor flaws that detract from it, the most prominent being forced to sit through hours of unnecessary cutscenes. Why would I want, for example, to sit through a 2 minute animation sequence with Knights of the Round after I’ve already seen it a million times over and only care about the damage it deals?

Among other games in the series, I hardly know anything past 7, and I can hardly see anything I disliked prior to it. Final Fantasy 6 was too easy, and other than that I really can’t think of anything.

I’ll pick FFIX. That seems to be the one I hate the most.

For one, I’ll start with what is commonly referred to as the “classic character stylings” of FF9. The midget sized characters are in no way a classic trademark of the series as it is portrayed to be. Characters in the early games were small because they were 2D, a technical restriction that shouldn’t garner itself any sort glamour. It was never mentioned in the actual games, so using it as a selling point is kind of ridonkulous.

Next, the battle system had one serious flaw - everything took too long to perform. I clocked Dagger in at performing a summon at 7 minutes after I input the command. I lost many a battle because my characters took their sweet fucking time.

Thirdly; Kuja. What kind of transgender shit went on there? I mean seriously. I got real excited because I thought the bad guy was a girl and that’s at least different.

Fourthly, the plot takes a dive on it’s face when it introduces this terra stuff. I found myself pretty confused and lost when we’re suddenly in some kind of crystal palace and then find ourselves in the tree of life? What happened to Garnet being kidnapped and adopted? That was way more interesting than some dude with a tail.

So… yeah. But as much as I hated the game, I still loved it.

I loved the game for it’s references. Not just the Final Fantasy ones, but the pop culture ones easily found in Lindblum Square during the reconstruction (a favorite of mine is the guy on the ladder that says “Damnit Jim, I’m a docter not a brick builder!”).

Next, we have Chocobo Hot and Cold. Easily the greatest mini game ever.

I also really liked the way of learning skills and spells. Although I didn’t like how I had all these skills and never enough skill points to use a lot of the ones I needed for even the final boss.

Next, the game had a nice flow to it and was fun to play. The begining where you sneak into the play is very playful, as is the performance of the sword fight in the play.

And that is all.

Mr Saturn, good points. Jamming the A is an ubiquitous trademark of the RPG  Think Earthbound (Level 99 for what-you-believe-in’s shake).

Sorcerer, 1st and 2nd points are point on.

I didn’t enjoy being rushed through FF8, because the critters leveled up on par and you had to painstakingly suck strong spells and bind them to your weapons to win the game without waiting for the 10min/round summons.

I dislike the fact that until a certain FF in every 3 steps you give 2 of them a stupid monster pops out…Gah so annoying when you get lost and they don’t stop comming…

I hate everything Sorc does about 9, plus the characters and general plotline. I can’t even really explain why. I just despise them. It’s some deep, burning hatred I cannot slake, no-matter how hard I try and like them, I just have a hard time getting through the game because I don’t really want to survive the battles.

IV was probably my favourite, simply because I think it was the most literate and atmospheric of the games. It had a very Joycean revelation feeling near the end, and a Hemingway level crushing dispair thoughout. I thought it was well done, overall. Some corny and kitschy bits, but what would FF be without 'em?

Well, a lot better, but that’s not the point.

And I 4got to say… If Barret wants to swear, then why do they block it out? might as well not swear at all.

I think Final fantasy 9 is a much nicer and better game.
Besides, In FF7 you can basicly get all limits for some char. in disk 1 so why bother trying to train? playit in the basic form and you can already finish about 95% of the game.

You should really see the Final Fantasy records and find out why FF7 is one of the worst rated games in the FF seiries.
But don’t take this too hard, It’s your decision on whether It’s good or not to you.
(I know, My spelling is bad)

Try putting ATB to active so It would take alot less time.

Necron is a pushover.
You dont need to block all status effects for Necron, just use: Antibody, Locomotion, Jelly, body temp.
then use: Auto-life, Auto-regen and auto Haste.
If you use these your char. should be at least lv 60+, then youll win easilly

I’ve never trained in an RPG. Of course, because I also never run away from battles, I usually find myself just strong enough to get by with a decent challenge.

I do find I’m chronically underlevelled according to various walkthroughs, but usually not so much as to make it impossible to win.

I suppose if there was anything I hate about the games in general, it’s the changes they made when translating them. Sue, they have to appeal to their target audience and “what’s acceptable” is different here than in Japan, but it irks me to no end to know that the story of the game I played is any different from the original story.

What I hate most about Final Fantasys is that the plot collapses near the end of the game, creating an anti-climax.
