Want longhorn? Be ready to do some serious upgrading...

Well, in a way, XP was a big change after 95, since it moved away from Windows 9X and onto NT technology. Though I’m not sure if 2000 came out before it, it’s still a pretty big change for the average desktop.

OSX! :yipee:

gets burned at the stake

Oh god, now they’re going to make a stupid sprite for that too. >:0

It isn’t. It’s a client OS.
Windows Server will be released sometime after Windows Longhorn. In 2007 most likely.

That brings me to a question I’ve been itching to ask. I know a few of our members have Win 2k3 installed. Anyone care to explain why? It seems rather superfluous to me.

Because it’s like Windows XP. Without all the things I hate about Windows XP: The look. The annoying programs that takes a lot of work to get rid off - More work than it takes to convert Windows Server 2003 to a client OS.
Windows 2000 is nice and all; but there’s a series of things it doesn’t support. Else I would still have used that.

how do you get 2003?

Fuck yeah. Only problem is, If I want to install Maya 5 (6 very soon) from my mum’s super 1337 CD collection, then I gotta have Win2K ;_;.

You ask me.
Unless you just want to evaluate.

ugh. Yeah, I saw the article yesterday. Dropped dead when I saw the “system requirements”. They probably just took XP and fixed all security holes with a kazillion notepads… <_<

Strange thing is, I already have 2 gigs of RAM…

And a terrabyte HD would probably be quite possible by that time.

Illegally.

Those definately aren’t real. They want everyone to switch to Longhorn so that they can control everything about us.

Only 1 TB of HDD space? God, what are you people whinging about?

I could install it and still have about 0.6 TB free… :stuck_out_tongue:

God Bless my RAID array :stuck_out_tongue:

The data seems speculative and the product description about data architecture and logging doesn’t make me think its supposed to be for normal PC users. In fact, the first thing that comes to mind for the logging thing is big brother. Watch out for terrorists, child porn distributers and the people who distribute mp3s and movies!

Sometime in the future, they’ll probably apply some of these features in a direct or modified fashion, but who knows.

You suck. :3
