Viewtiful Joe: Go go or no go?

Thinking about getting this for my PS2 when it releases. Thought I’d get some opinions from those of you who own it for the GCN.

All I can say is henshin a go-go baby!

It’s alright. There are tons of moves for a 2d side scroller. It has some very nice gameplay depth. The viewtiful effects are also pretty cool and fun. However, the game is pretty hard. Some of the levels aren’t particularly interesting either. If you like action games and unique games and don’t maind a challenge, then this game is right up your alley.

You mean it’s out?

Crap, another game to buy.

Super fun, and super cool, but also super hard

All I can say is that I’ll probably kick ass-butt on the PS2 cause the controller will work alot better for that style of gameplay instead of “Captain Sir Clunky” (my GC controller’s name).

Dante is in the PS2 version, and thats kinda cool

You can also play as the girl (joes girlfriend) from the start from what I’ve been told.

I think that’s in Viewtiful Joe 2, only, Izlude. But I could be wrong.

Anyways, the game is really fun, and really interesting. But it’s DAMN hard. I think what made it the hardest is that they released in on GAMECUBE, the most godawful controller for platformers ever made. :stuck_out_tongue: And you really have to be able to his A,B,X,Y,L, and R at the same time :stuck_out_tongue: On the PS2, it’ll probly be a lot less frustrating, so I’d say it’s a good buy. Especially since it’s coming out a little cheap, too.

They added Dante to Viewtiful Joe 1 on PS2 as an extra and inscentive to get it. You have to beat the game to open him. Dante has a few more moves, but is basicalyl the same as Joe. However, if you don’t like the game, Dante won’t change much…if anything. Yeah, my feelings are the same as yours SG.

I love Viewtiful Joe, and I can’t really understand why there’s so much hatred for the GCN controller all the sudden (I thought it played VJ just fine… the only button I don’t like on the GCN controller is the Z button… but I digress). Anyway, the game starts out REALLY hard, but once you get the hang of it, it’s REALLY easy, for the most part. It does take a while to fully get the hang of, though.

The PS2 version is better in that it contains an extra character (Dante) and a super easy mode (Sweet Mode… which is pretty much useless since Easy Mode is easy enough). The PS2 version also has a tiny bit of slowdown ocassionally that the GCN version lacks, but that’s not really a big deal.

In short, the game is good. Buy it.
