I’m doing a paper for class about whether violent video games incite aggressive behavior, and I was wondering if some of you could take a short survey for me. I’d really appreciate it. I posted it here since this forum gets more traffic than the video game forum.
Thanks.

PS: The wording is kinda weird on a couple questions.
I was going to finish one, but then I had to suddenly type paragraphs. Why didn’t you just make them all multiple choice?
Also, you realize that doing this is like asking a room full of pre-teen girls whether Hilary Duff is the best musician of all time.
They would say no. It’s Justin Bieber.
Did it for kicks, sent to a friend, where do I buy the t-shirt?
Thanks a lot duder! I’ll buy you a t-shirt of your choice.
Lady GaGa is my favorite band.
Rush? I’m in no hurry.
Prodigy? Is that like Rebecca Black?
Madonna? I’m not italian.
;3
I’ll give this a go after work, kk?
Well, I did it. You can thank me later.
Fuck that. I’ll thank you now.
Thank you.
Sorry I took a while, I had an assignment due today. But I just finished the survey now. Good luck!
Done. I’ve actually writeen several papers on this subject. I tend to believe what recent research shows - that violent media is a small percentage of all the factors that would cause a person to turn violent.
Can you link me to some of those reports? That’s actually what I"m trying to prove.
PS, thanks.
It’s going to be kind of biased as you post it in a games forum and only people who want to will respond.
The questions involving playing violent video games in general over non-violent video games…is there such a thing as a non-violent video game? What I mean is, are you trying to say violence towards the human race as oppossed to goblins, vampires, zombies, aliens, goombas, etc?
I don’t think I’ve ever played a game that didn’t involve killing or hurting some animate object. All the way back to the days of Duck Hunt. Sports games themselves usually involve a lot of roughhousing and aggression. Race car games usually involve crashing into other cars, smahing into them to make them hit a wall, or throwing turtle shells at others.
Maybe 5% of all the games I played didn’t involve any violence, but I’m just pulling that number out of my ass. It’s probably less.
I wish I would have kept them for you. I wrote them close to my join date during my college days. Damn, they seem like yesterday and I’m closing in on being around here for ten years…
I remember I got most of my material from peer reviewed journals where actual studies were published. I wish I could help you more.
I was just dragged to a hippy concert that lasted several hours, in which I was surrounded by idiots…I feel incited to violence now.
DR, start with JSTOR and your uni’s databases?
You have accept 2 things about this survey:
a) the pool of people you’re surveying is unrepresentative of society at large, making it difficult to draw applicable conclusions.
b) a major difficulty with poll is to ask useful questions that don’t lead your surveyed population to an answer of your choice. You can ask people 2 questions that ask the same thing and get completely different responses.
