Dear God this will be amazing.
Is this going to be on the PS2 or PS3?
She is giving herslef all to me.
edit: Hmmm…Divan isn’t Dipan is it…? Since you know, there is a queen there…oh well. Coincidence I guess.
I just creamed myself. It looks like the game itself is going to play exactly like the original, except looking drop dead gorgeous. Now someone tell me Lezard and Brahms are going to be in it.
Hold on a sec… that’s Barbarossa’s castle on the small pic isn’t it? I don’t remember seeing Silmeria there, only Hrist. Also, this means there’ll probably be heaps of flashbacking, which opens up a chance of seeing Lenneth again
BMO: Valyrie Profile: Silmeria is coming for the PS2. For now at least, it can always get pushed back.
You can bet there will be incarnations. Look at that battle pic, with all the profiles and look closely at the mage unit. Looking an awful lot like Zardy.
Good eye, I see what you mean. So we’d also get to see Arngrim, Mystina and Lewl… Llew… the archer kid. After seeing Lenneth and Lezard in Radiata, I’m just dying to hear “IT SHALL BE ENGRAVED UPON YOUR SOUL!” again.
By the way, clear this up for me: What was it with Purify Weird Soul in the original game? I’m sure that had to be some mistranslation, so what was it intended to say?
You mean what was it supposed to mean? Well Lenneth was the cleanser of the dead for the most part- in destroying the undead prowling around, she was purifying them. So you know, it was telling you to kill the enemy by “purifying” them. Weird soul as in foul, clouded or black soul.
Well, yes, but “Weird” isn’t exactly what you would put on an attack’s name, is it? I’m just certain they must have messed up that word.
I found it to be fitting; it was a sinister choice of words, one that you wouldn’t really hear in in modern day language, as with a lot of dialogue presented in VP.
I don’t get too excited about a game I never played before, personally
People got so excited about fable and it turned out to be average, according to critics. IT was the typical alignment decisions you see in bioware stuff
A lot of people got excited about Radiata stories and I heard it wasn’t too good either. I’m not playing it because of what i read about it. One of the things is there aren’t that many save points. It’s supposed to be a comedy game, but I don’t think it looks that funny
But it got like 80% on rotten tomatoes and that’s pretty high for something on that site
And a lot of people think FFXII isn’t gonna be that good either. But NWN2 looks good
Have you ever played VP? I’ll admit that after Radiata Stories my faith in tri-Ace is dragging trough the ground, but Valkyrie Profile is the one game they’ve ever made that does not have their recurrent many abysmal flaws that make otherwise legendary works into down right irritating ordeals. If they manage to keep the general aspects the same intact, this WILL be awesome.
I liked Fable, even if it was a little too short for my tastes.
I own the first Valkyrie Profile. I bought it this year
They don’t even sell good ps1 games anymore, so that’s a bit of a feat
I also bought Xenogears this year
If there was any remaining doubt that Square are the graphical masters:

TIME FOR AN UPDATE, DERP.
I have been scouring the net for a few weeks now trying to be on the up and up regarding Silly news, and here is stuff that I’ve come to a conclusion about, or found with the help of others:
Basic Summary:
Banished into the body of a human, Silmeria’s true nature is reported to be “locked away” and her memories kept hidden as to appease the vessel harbouring Silmeria’s soul- a human woman and the flourishing City of Dipan’s first Princess or Queen, Alicia (also called Ashley and Alecia in fan translations. Alicia was the name given in the Japanese trailer). Valkyrie Profile fans will recognize the City of Dipan as the silent and destroyed dungeon that sent Lenneth back in time to one of its better eras. Set several hundred years before this incident, the City of Dipan is indeed very much alive and prosperous- how its disastrous fate is linked to Alicia’s existence (and if it is at all) is still a mystery.
The upcoming sequel to the cult classic, Valkyrie Profile, has some interesting twists to throw on the battle system that mirrors the system in the first game. While it is not a complete copy of the original system there will be some similarities. There will be more drastic changes to the system though.
AP: AP stands for attack points. They work much like the system in the Front Mission. In order to take action you must have attack points to consume and winning a battle will replenish your AP.
New Attacks: Unlike in the first Valkyrie Profile game you will now be able to throw enemies into the air and then attack them while in the air using mid-air combos. Hitting the enemy once will bring forth a special item that will replenish your AP, the number of times you hit the enemy in the air before it hits the ground will reflect the amount of this special item that will be dropped.
Leader Assault: Leader assault is somewhat like it sounds. Enemies will be grouped together and sometimes be in control of a leader. If you kill the leader you win the battle. Pretty simple no?
Extend Gauge: Basically during a battle a set of dots will appear on the right side of the screen. That is your gauge. The dots will slowly disappear during the battle and winning the battle with dots still present will result in extra experience. Thus the fast you win a battle the more potential experience you can get.
Bits and pieces I tried to glean from rough japanese translations:
The maiden valkyrie Silmeria, one of the three goddesses of fate and the younger sister of Lenneth. She had a kind heart, but did something to envoke the wrath and punishment of Odin who banished her into the body of a Dipan princess and is forced to share it with her.
It seems to be hinting that one of the personalities (Silmeria or Alicia I can’t tell which one…) isn’t supposed to wake up, but does (or at least clashes with the other) and gains back her memory and hold over her body…
It seems Alicia was born as the first princess or queen of Dipan, which is obviously quite well-to-do and prosperous. But because Silmeria has been within in maybe from the time she was little, and exerts some bizarre “other” personality because of this (which is that of Silmeria…). Because of this Alicia was banished from the castle of Dipan five years prior to the game and has been placed under house arrest wherever she was held prisoner near the castle. She is full of heart and very kind. Now she is grieved and sad because of what happened to her because of what her father did to her (Barbossa?).

An interesting thing to note- Silmeria, Lenneth and Hrist all share the same body. While one is awake, the other two sleep. When Lenneth was the valkyrie, Hrist slept in her body until Odin intervened and switched their roles. But! When Lenneth goes to Brahms’ castle, she sees Silmeria in her own body, imprisoned behind Brahms- which means that Lenneth is truly seeing Silmeria in Alicia’s body. So, maybe this fate of Silmeria’s and this scene will be fleshed out more in the prequel. I think it will, due to this observation.
On Rufus:
Rufus must be the first person to accompany Sil/Ali on her quest…I’m guessing that it is he that the second part of that sentence refers to- that he doesn’t lose his composure even in the slightest sign of danger or battle.
a silent, guilty, pretty boy protagonist. The girls are gonna love it There is some destiny or duty that is preventing him from walking away from Sil/Ali. I guess he’s more silent than he is kind or gentle now, come to think of it, because of the weight that he bares due to this “destiny”…

As of late, there are no concrete speculation theories regarding Dylan or Lezard. Expect Brahms to return (possibly as a love interest, A lot of fans seem to think this) and Hrist.
WANNA KNOW WHY?
Maybe a silly question, but will it be pretty much essential to have played through VP before trying this new game in order to have at least a somewhat satisfying experience plot-wise?
Any word on the English release of the PSP remake of VP?
Well since this is a prequel, it can go either way. I’d still say play VP first, because the lingering effects of VP: Silmeria (and there are very little) in VP will kinda seem downplayed and not as important.
Any word on the English release of the PSP remake of VP?
Nada, it’s due to be released in less than a month for Japan only. No other talk for release dates.
Yes, we know for a fact that Hrist was present while Dipan was still standing, so she’ll probably appear. The idea of Brahms as Silmeria’s love interest is creepy (I mean, just look at the guy) but I guess it could happen in a clichéd prisoner/captive story. Maybe that’s why Odin banished her?
Dylan… who was that?
I can’t believe I don’t remember seeing Silmeria in Brahms’ castle. Was it an optional scene? It certainly explains how on earth she could be kidnapped without taking Hrist and Lenneth too.
Vicki: There’s also the fact that the most of the VP characters are reincarnations of warriors that lived during Dipan’s time, so if they are present in this one too, VP:Silmeria might just skip presentations and assume you know them. And Arngrim better damn be in it. It’s not THAT big of a spoiler, so you can read if you want.
It was optional in that you didn’t actually have to meet Brahms. But as soon as you talk to him, you’ll notice Silmeria in a crystal up behind him.
