U.SaGa's Growth System: The final step in Mutant Rule?

For any of you who have played the GB SaGas you may notice that the U.SaGa growth system is like a fancier version of the growth of the Mutants in SaGa 1 and SaGa 2.

In both cases you will end up gaining a skill and losing a skill eventually. In both cases the skill varies. The differences are of course. You have more control of what skill to put down and replace in U.SaGa. And it only happens at the end of an adventure usually. Plus the skills are more varied in U.SaGa’s case.

Then again that is to be expected. More than likely they would add more stuff to a later game in the end anyway. Still it would be nice to see a Mutant style character in a PS/PS2 SaGa. Mutants aka Espers are one of my favorite SaGa races. So of course I want them back.

Hmmm… i’d never thought of the Skill system in USaGa to be similar to the Mutant system from SaGa 2, but now that you mention it, i see the similarities. I agree about Mutant/Mystics being one of the best things about SaGa. I’d say that my biggest wish for USaGa is having different races actually be different, though I guess the way they have it now wouldn’t work with that (the bulk of characters being human, with only one example of each other race…) I also miss the Mechs and Monsters from SaGa Frontier 1, and the lack of multiple races from subsequent games is a big factor in SGF 1 being my favorite in the series.
