=/

I gotta leave, there is trouble back at home. My cousin just called me and cried, because her parents are forcing her into an arranged marriage.

I really don’t know what I can do to help out, but I’m going anyways.

So, Bye.

What do you guys think about arranged marriages?

not cool… i don’t understand that you would want to force someone else to marry someone he/she probably won’t even like

Well… that just sucks, NB :open_mouth:

Hopefully, your cousin’s parents will come to their senses ;.;

Good luck on that.

Arranged marriages? Full of shit.

From what I understand, though, they have a lower divorce rate than marriages by choice.

Tell her to get some gall, say “NO”, and run like hell if she has to.

I wouldn’t mind having one, it would save me a lot of money and time.

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> Strap on a sharp object and save your cousin from her wicked lover-to-be, and strike down her parents in a climatic battle, after which you spend the rest of your life living with your cousin and you’ll have many, many children which are all unable to formulate the simplest of sentences without spitting out what they had for dinner last night

Where do you live?!

Well i think thats due to the people that are married are raised on traditional values, like not divorcing ever, for if they do their family might shun them and such. I mean if they got married in the first place in an arranged marriage they surely don’t want to upset their families, or else they would have said no and left their family behind. Maybe arranged marriages do work, i wouldn’t know why or how though.

Are they enforicing the arranged marriage based on religion, or just because they want it?

Anyway, I think arranged marrages are ridiculus. You should be able to marry whoever you want. That’s why there’s an emotion called “love”. Although, there can be some “love” in an arranged marriage.

 laterz

TD, you are ev0l.

And NB, good luck. Later.

Very rarely is there an emotion called “love” in an open marriage these days sigh

And yeah if i was that girl, no one would be able to shut my mouth once I got wind of this “arranged marriage”. Wish she’d put her tears to more productive purposes.

Actually, in most cultures that have arranged marriages, the couple at least knows each other somewhat before marriage. So this could contribute to…

Uh O_o I’m just gonna repeat what Sin said, so… but I’ll save CC from those quotes that he hates ^^;; But seriously, what the heck is that about?

So anyways, does anybody know what passes for matchmaking customs here in the US of A?

Like the divorce rate isn’t high enough already, we need to start forcing marriages that, even if the people are compatible, will probably end up in divorce because the feelings of resentment towards the parties forcing the marriage will be expressed on the mate.
