Time for a new bandwagon

<div align=“center”><img src=“http://www.gabbf.com/images/bandwagon.jpg”></div>

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> Actually, I just wanted to discuss <a href=“http://edition.cnn.com/2003/TECH/ptech/10/17/sprj.ws.track.teens.phone.reut/index.html”>this</a>, but I was too lazy to think of a good topic name.

This just bothers me. Being allowed to track people (minors or not) without their consent? I really don’t like the sound of that.

burns teh bandwagon

And isn’t this invasion of privacy?

Yeah, it very well can be an invasion of privacy, but the laws in the EU are different. If it passes, well, tough luck I guess then.

The sad thing is, it could probably be passed in the US, too. There’d be a huge uproar and such, but that didn’t stop the Patriot Act.

This isn’t exactly news, they’ve been working on it for a while.

Lots of people see this as a sign of the apocalypse, too. In the Hebrew language (as well as others) there is this system where numbers can be assigned to certain letters, and through a certain type of math, whole words can receive a number value. "Computer"s number is 666, and these things are supposed to eventually go in the hand.

burns all cell phones in the area hate 'em, gives the G3 ones an extra burn

I’m a little confused here, who’s doing the tracking, the government?

Conceivably, the government COULD, but from what I understand, it’s the parents.

Big Brother Is Voice-Mailing You.

Ah yes, with Palladium and this, noone will be able to stay secluded! They will know everything including your shoe size!!!111!!111!!1111

Wait, dude. So, the “tracking” system is based on the fact that the kid is carrying a cell phone, right? So the kid could, theoretically, say fuck it, and chuck his cell phone into a fjord or something, and the system would be thwarted? Would this law make that action illegal? Or would they be tracked by more insidious means?

Or would the “without their consent” part of the law be dependent on the fact that the 15-year-old and under kids would be so attached to their cell phones that they’d never just get rid of them to get the eye of Big Brother off them?

Gah, they’ll only catch the popular kids 'cause the lonely kids have no need for a cell phone.

And the popular kids won’t throw them away 'cause it’s like AIM: They use it to talk to everyone. 'specially the girls. So, if there’s a popular kid that wants to build a nuke or is in a cult, they can track him/her.

This is only the beggining…it’s only a matter of time before they’ll be planting tracking devices in our skulls! IT’S A CONSPIRis shot

(BTW, I couldn’t help but laugh when Mazrim said the word “fjord.” Hey, it’s a funny word. :hahaha; )

But the lonely ones are the ones who go on a killing spree.

Yeah, but if you’re 15 an above, they need your consent, so I guess it’s up to you really… And if you’re dying in a ditch somewhere, maybe you might thank the fact that a rescue team or something can get to you as quick as possible.

If you’re in a ditch and have your cell phone, you won’t need a tracking device.

What if you’re unconscious?

How would a tracking device know the difference?

Well I’m guessing it wouldnt actually be used by you, but by the person trying to track you down… have i misread the article or something, I thought the tracking device was used by a third party to find where the persons mobile is… and if it is that, I’m guessing knowone would know whether someone was lying in a ditch somewhere until they found that person… but I thought that was the whole idea of the tracking device, to find the person?

I doubt it’ll be passed. And even if to does, someone will probably send it to some fancy human rights court.

Last time I checked, minors were humans too.
