Those crazy fundamentalists have done it again

Seriously, WTF.

What is this? Fundamentalist/Creationist month? Or are we just getting all news about these guys out as soon as we can, so we don’t have to deal with it later in the year?

I remember seing something on the news about that.

Actually, because of the Bush election and events in the past year, the religious right has felt more empowered and made more waves than it used to. Because of the conservative grip the GOP has on politics right now, you can expect more things like this and more revulsion at things like this as these are only going to be more frequent as the agenda of the right manifests itself.

The GOP? Is that the name for Bush’s Gestapo or something? :stuck_out_tongue:

Grand Old Party = GOP = Republicans = Bush’s Party

And now, an intermission between people explaining what GOP means!

Sir Henry the elephant trumpets for the Republican party!

“Grand Old Party”, the nickname for the Republican Party.

GOP: Grand Old Party: Republican Party

I’ve read these articles, but they never say why they think spongebob is gay.

“That is so myopic and harsh,” he told Reuters. “You have really got to look hard to find anything in this that is offensive to anyone. The last thing I am going to do is taint these characters.”

That’s exactly what I would have said. Well, not in those words precisely…

SpongeBob, who lives in a pineapple under the sea, was “outed” by the U.S. media in 2002 after reports that the TV show and its merchandise are popular with gays.

I can’t wait for these guys to find out about the gazillion Harry Potter slash fanfics.

It is not the first time that children’s TV favorites have come under the critical spotlight of the Christian right. In 1999, the Rev. Jerry Falwell described Tinky Winky, the purse-toting purple Teletubbie, as a gay role model.

How do even describe Teletubies? It’s a show about a bunch of retarded aliens with stupid symbols on their heads that talk like babies! There is no deep meaning. Hell, there is no deep anything.

I would like to point out that the caption under the SpongeBob picture reads “SpongeBob lives in a pineapple under the sea.” Bravo on the journalism, CNN, bravo.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that found that hilarious. ^^

You did find that hilarious, didn’t you? =O

Yes. I did.

It’s somewhat off topic, but the Spongebob Squarepants movie fucking rocks. Not only that, but Motorhead did a song for it (“You Better Swim,” the song it was originally called is “You Better Run,” which is also by Motorhead), so it rocks even more.

As for the actual topic… it’s very stupid to say that Spongebob is gay. It’s a kid’s cartoon about asexual fucking sea creatures. There are no sexual relationships for fuck’s sake!

Uh, doesn’t SpongeBob have the hots for Sandy the squirrel? I don’t remember the show too well, just that he freaked when he went to see her once or twice.

Oh hell…I read this before about a week and a half ago. The Bible Belt fundies have nothing else important to do with their lives than bitch and moan and try to make everyone elses life as religiously miserable as theirs by griping about the littlest of things…even a Nickelodeon aquatic character. Ren and Stimpy I could understand (quality show), but Spongebob is just sad. Shows what they’re left with to attack.

After “Line In The Sand”, I’ve lost any sort of respect I’ve ever had for Motorhead.

Oh trust me, Igatona. I ignore most of their stuff that wasn’t made in the 80s.

And Rommel: Ren and Stimpy was definately supposed to have homosexual undertones, actually. The creator himself said so.

In the new one on Spike TV it was even more obvious

Wait, so you’re telling me that Spike TV actually had something good on? O_O
