Things you (probobly) didn't know.

This was emailed to me earlier and I found it interesting…perhaps you all will too.

  1. Apples, not caffeine, are more efficient at waking you up in the
    morning.
  2. Alfred Hitchcock didn’t have a belly button.
  3. A pack-a-day smoker will lose approximately 2 teeth every 10 years.
  4. People do not get sick from cold weather; it’s from being indoors a
    lot more.

    2-6 yrs old.
  9. The average person over 50 will have spent 5 years waiting in lines.
  10. The toothbrush was invented in 1498.
  11. The average housefly lives for one month.
  12. 40,000 Americans are injured by toilets each year.
  13. A coat hanger is 44 inches long when straightened.

  23. The first Harley Davidson motorcycle built in 1903 used a tomato can

"2. Alfred Hitchcock didn’t have a belly button. "

Neither did Adam or Eve.
How did Hitchcock survive in the womb then?

“3. A pack-a-day smoker will lose approximately 2 teeth every 10 years.”

Heh heh…That explains “Deb and John II” (GG knows -.-)

"6. Only 7 per cent of the population are lefties. "

Response: “Everyone is born right-handed; only the best overcome it.” Go us lefties!

"15. Your feet are bigger in the afternoon than any other time of day. "

Does that mean your bigger in other areas too?

"16. Most of us have eaten a spider in our sleep. "

I’d like to hope not.

"17. The REAL reason ostriches stick their head in the sand is to search for water. "

I’m pretty sure it’s to look like a bush so it won’t be attacked, but I’m not a zoologist.

If all functions stopped when you sneezed, you wouldn’t be able to hear yourself sneeze or feel it come out. Other than that, this list looks like a bunch of complete and utter bullshit.

And the “spider in your sleep” thing has already been discussed in another thread and disproven.

I doubt it’s all BS. Apples have sugar which could wake you up better than, say, coffee.

As for the sneeze…clearly not all functions for the whole thing, but maybe for one instant or milisecond, but that’s hardly worth noting, true or not.

I heard somewher ethat Hitchcock wasn’t BORN without a belly button, but rather, it disapeared mysteriously after some plastic surgery.

“Bodily functions” is just a vernacular term scientists use to describe unconscious bodily behaviors such as breathing, heart rate, digestion, etc, which are governed by the cerebellum. Sensory and emotive behaviors controlled by the frontal and parietal lobes are separate and not normally attributed to “bodily functions”, per se, so yes, it is right. But, in reality, it sounds more interesting than it actually is.

"3. A pack-a-day smoker will lose approximately 2 teeth every 10 years. "

This could explain something that happened to my mother. She lost a tooth about a month after she quit smoking.

Snopes

  1. 40,000 Americans are injured by toilets each year.

Fear the toilets of DOOM!!!

but seriously thought is that even possible?

Hm… another thought. Wouldn’t spiders back off because of your breathing and movement in bed? And if it was true then how come we still have Australlians?

:hahaha; :hahaha; :hahaha;

Poor Merlin, his piano danger senses are tingling probably

You believe things you’re told on the Internet? You must be easily manipulated. Cool.

Is blinking seven times a minue a lot or little? Great, now I’m blinking all the time…

Good job there at spreading some minor facts and blatant lies. Now stop spamming this nonsense. Stop spreading information unless you have a credible source or have actually done some research yourself.

I think I’ve heard of one or two of these in some book…I think it was trying to prove whether these things were true or not.

I’m pretty sure I don’t spend 1/10th of my time waiting in lines.

A male honey bee’s penis will break off after he ejaculates. After which, he dies within 2 minutes from blood loss.

For once in my life I agree with Vorpy :stuck_out_tongue:
