The Wheel of Time Series

Well, Tolkien uses a lot of wordplay, and he writes his dialogue as if it were translated from another language. There’s a big pun in there too: Hobbit’s call their own kind <i>kuduk</i>, similar to <i>kud dukan</i> (Old Norse?), “Hole Builder” or <i>hol bytla</i> in one of the older incarnations of English. Wear that down with a few centuries’ use and you get “Hobbit.”

I personally consider everything but the terraforming aspect of Dune to be fantasy, and the Wierding Way is basically magic, which unfortunately Herbert uses to grease the wheels of his story.

Tolkien uses a LOT of norse in his work. He copied the dwarves names verbatim from the eddas.
