The Time Traveler Convention

Was it done before?
And no one came?

May 7, 2005, 10:00pm EDT (08 May 2005 02:00:00 UTC)
(events start at 8:00pm)
East Campus Courtyard, MIT
3 Ames St. Cambridge, MA 02142
42:21:36.025°N, 71:05:16.332°W
(42.360007,-071.087870 in decimal degrees)

I’m from the future, and I’d like to attend!

We’re not sure how you’re emailing us from the future, but we’d love to have you! Come as you are! No dress code whatsoever. We do request that you bring some sort of proof that you do indeed come from the future, and haven’t just dressed like you do. We welcome any sort of proof, but things like a cure for AIDS or cancer, a solution for global poverty, or a cold fusion reactor would be particularly convincing as well as greatly appreciated. (No RSVP required.)

If you went there, a description of the event would be greatly appreciated.

It was in Friday’s NYT. Humorous article.

Now i am depressed:

Update: The convention was a success! Unfortunately, we had no confirmed time travelers visit us.We did, however, have a great series of lectures, awesome bands, and even a DeLorean.

you’re aware this is a joke, right?

The Time Travelers DID attend. But then The Master tried to kill them all, which lead to a multi-episode adventure in which the fabric of space/time was almost irreparably broken, so the Time Lords decided to erase the event from existence. That’s why nobody remembers them having attended.

:hahaha;

A joke?! No way. It was a damn good partay though.
As soon as i adjust my mental time-space-shift mechanism, i am going. It is never too late in this case. Right?
Here is something you might be interested in :

The Time Travel Fund™.

Q: How does this work?
A: Current scientific theory states that Time Travel may be possible, however the technology is a long way off, perhaps hundreds of years in the future. Now, assume it does become possible in say, 500 years. As with any technology, Time Travel will get less expensive as time goes on. Just as the price of a VCR has dropped to less than $70 from the several hundred dollars it cost just ten years ago, Time Travel, once it becomes feasible, will initially be very expensive yet it will become more and more economical as time goes by.

Q: How does this help me?
A: The concept is that one day, it may be possible for people living far in the future to retrieve you from your current frame of reference (their past - your present) and bring you into the future (their present - your future.)

Q: Why would they want to?
A: That is the purpose of the fund. The simple answer is, we pay them to bring you into the future.
