My grandma was telling me that she saw a copy of the Stand with a leather cover. She said it was over 100 bucks. She saw it on TV and wants it pretty badly and I figured I could get that for her for christmas. So could anyone give me a link to a site that would have it? I’ve asked this question on a books and literature board on gamefaqs but they’re a bunch of assholes there so I hope you guys can be of more help.

The commercial was probably from his bookclub, and might only be available through it, but I don’t know for sure. Try checking with Amazon, or Abebooks…I found one damn near impossible book to find at Abebooks, so you might have luck there.
I know the older black-boxed leatherbound editions are currently running up into the $1k price zone. o.o;
eBay would probobly be a safe bet.
Since we’re on the sunject of Stephen King I think I’ll ask you guys a question. I haven’t read any of King’s books but I have seen and liked some of his movies. My grandma says I should start with the Dark Tower series. What is the Dark Tower series like and what is it about? I thought about reading them first then IT then The Stand. I’ll go on from there.
I haven’t read the Dark Tower series, but his short stories are really good…I suggest Different Seasons because it has both Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption and The Body (the story Stand by Me was based on.)
The Stand is a really good read. Its basically the apocylpse, good versus evil kind of thing. Really good. The dark tower is well about a dark tower, j/k. Ive only read the first on, but its mainly about this cowboy like guy that they call the gunslinger. Which is the name of the first book. Any way, the gunslinger is after the Dark Man I believe he was called. Because he knows the way to the Dark Tower. The final book just came out recently. The Dark Tower is what it is called.
