The Spirit of RPGC

I agree with you, Shalc.

But I also think you should SHUT THE HELL UP!!!

well, things like this can, will, and already have happened before. there’s no way we can completely stop them…

which is why i’ll stay as long as i’m interested.

Actually, I’m left-handed for all intents and purposes.

just to show how different things are, only 9 of the 25 top posters are staffers right now. In most of our past it’s been virtually an all-staff messageboard, up until two years ago we didn’t even bother to have a board devoted to site matters, anything that needed discussion happened in the regular ones. Although admittedly that didn’t happen a whole lot since Jim basically ran everything himself and before then things were so young when Rast was in charge that there wasn’t much of a need to :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d just like to add that a person who hasn’t been around here very long in comparesion to others is bitching about the “Spirit of RPGC”.

Shalcar has been here for quite a while…

Point taken.

I would be the first to admit that I have not been here forever, nor do I think that my length of time here proves anything. I have been here long enough to observe a trend that I had hoped to partially turn around by bringing it to others attention. Some may consider this “whining”. So be it, I do not force you to read this. I merely hoped that some would take heed and be a little more polite.

Charle: Thanks for the show of support… I think :stuck_out_tongue:

Nul: True, although you are not nearly as cynical as you make out ^^

Epic: If you have a valid counter-argument I would be more than happy to retract my statement about the “Spirit of RPGC”. Your statement as stands reads more like an “is not!” to my “is to!”.

Booken: Thanks for your support… at least, thanks for at least standing up for me

Val: I thank you for adding some much needed humor to this thread, this goes to Cala as well.

Orak: “Thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiings can only get better!” :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyone whom I missed, thank you for contributing.

I think Ill stop before I offend any more people, as that is not my purpose.

I dunno, I’ve been here for about one and half a year, and though things might have been turning a little harsher lately I don’t think it’s the first time that happens. We’re constantly moving, and changing, and there will be ups and downs. But RPGC will never ever go away! Now get up on the hill and pose with me against the sunset!

I get the strangest feeling im going to get into trouble over this :stuck_out_tongue:

poses with Weiila against the sunset

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> RPGC always has had certain periods where it sucked. It got over them. It will get over this one.

Or at least it did since I joined this place. I think I was one of the main reasons why it might have sucked way back then :stuck_out_tongue:

I never saw that before, thanks.

Yeah, support this! flips him the double bird

If anything’s affected the “spirit” of RPGC, it’s that as the site grows larger the community aspect of it has started encroaching upon what I believe should be the site’s core, the shrines.

As for the community itself, it has changed. It would be rather dull if all the personalities here remained static. The board does have a few issues with hostility - not in debate threads, mind you, oh no. If you don’t want a bad idea to be shot down by someone with a better point, don’t bother posting one. An argument shouldn’t be simply to prove a point, but to figure out the truth of a matter as best can be. That involves wrecking preconceived notions sometimes. The real hostility I see on the boards is the idiotic clique-ish crap in the Welcome and Leaving threads.

I know I’ve posted it on the forums before, but not many times nor in prominent places. I’ve seen communities go under because a bunch of the regulars figured that their time spent on the boards/chats gave them seniority over the new folks. I rarely use the term “newbie” anymore because it’s come to have such a condescending connotation. I keep hoping that doesn’t happen here, but I always think of it when people start putting inside jokes and things like that in the Welcome threads. The “inside” of the joke means that someone’s going to be excluded, and that person’s going to be the new guy at that point. It’s just my personal opinions, but I’m often more inclined to give the new folks the benefit of the doubt in a thread rather than certain regulars, simply because I’ve seen the regulars’ bevaviour in the past while the new guy still has a clean slate, far as I’m concerned.

I’m not the perfect poster and I won’t claim that I’m 100% correct. All I know is what I see and have here and elsewhere, so take any observations I make with that in mind.

I just find it ironic, sure, even I haven’t been here that long in comparesion to others, but I’ve been here a while, and you can’t expect a place to not change over time. People mature (some…), new people come in, and people leave, even if these boards still consisted only of the same choice people that have been here for ages, there still would be changes. Now, are you going to embrace the change or whine about it becasue things didn’t quite turn out how you thought would be best?

Yeah, Southpaws Unite!!!

raises the “Left Power!” fist salute. Its basically the same as the black power salute only it’s done with the left hand and scrawny white guys like me get to do it, too.

begins to wish he was left-handed
