Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the RPGClassics Moderator Despotism Awards. We strive to recognize an excellence in despotism among the Agora mods and administrators. What is classified as despotism you ask? Why, thread closures of course. Nothing cries abuse of power quite as much as closing random threads.
Least Despotic:
First we start with the least despotic award. This “prestigious” award is handed out to the mod or mods with the fewest thread closures over the past year. Obviously such a person is not a despot, so why reward him? Consider it the Golden Raspberry of the Despotism Awards. Yes, this fine winner had a grand total of ZERO thread closures in the last year for only one recorded mod action. Without further ado, this year’s least despotic mod is… ClothHat!
Best New Comer Despot:
Yes, in the last year we’ve added a few new mods. However, one stands out in stark comparison to all the others. With one thread closure in seven recorded moderator actions, this mod is surely on the path towards Despot history. Ladies and gentlemen, your best new comer despot of the year is… Ezboarder! I see good things in his future.
Wait, He’s a Despot?:
This award, like the first, doesn’t seem prestigious, but it is. This fine award winner had two thread closings in the last year. However, he had only seven moderator actions in this time. He’s not around much, but his despotism shows through, even when doing very little. Many fine mods had more thread closings than him, but he was able to manifest his despotism even when doing nothing. Props to him. This year’s Wait, He’s a Despot? award goes to… Kagon!
Honorary Despot:
This award goes to a fine individual part of the RPGCommunity. He is not Staff, but he is still a mod. He has served, remarkably surviving, in the Free RP Forum. With 20 moderator actions in the last year, 14 of which were thread closings, he has THE SINGLE HIGHEST thread closing ratio out of any mod. However, he doesn’t get any other award because, let’s face it, it’s the Free RP Forum. I’m sure you know who I’m talking about, Free RPers, but it still needs to be spoiled. Congratulations go to… PC Glenton!
Lifetime Achievement in Despotism:
Before we get to the real meat and potatoes of the night, we must honor a former despot. While no statistics can be gleaned, he truly is deserving of the RPGC Lifetime Achievement in Despotism. Old timers should be able to guess it. His depotism far outreached just the forum. Put your hands together for… ShaheenJim!
Relative Despotism:
This award does not necessarily go to the person with the most closed threads. Instead, it goes to the person who had the most closed threads relative to his total mod actions. That is, he has the highest personal percentage of thread closures. As the Honorary Despot was disqualified for not being Staff, we had to go with the second highest percentage. Remarkably, he acquired 24 closed threads for 59 mod actions (40.7%) in only EIGHT MONTHS. He hasn’t had a recorded action since February. Truly, the biggest despot relative to what he does… Sinistral!
Absolute Despotism:
The best award of the night. This award goes to the person with the single most thread closings in the past year. He closed 72 threads in a year, but with 442 total mod actions, he doesn’t have the highest percentage of closings relative to his total actions. He did account for 36.5% of the 197 closed threads in the last year though. In fact, he closed more threads than the next three most prolific thread closers. Your Despot of the Year… Tenchimaru Draconis!
