The Original Street Fighter is on Wii VC!

Gotta admit, that’s pretty cool.

Looking at the comments proceeding the post it looks like this game isn’t anything special. Would be good to try once for historical reference though.

Yeah, the first Street Fighter is pretty bad.

Played it years ago on Gametap.

Trust me, it has aged very poorly. The controls are sluggish and cumbersome. Special moves barely work, and when they do they’re powerful enough to be game breakers. There’s no real strategy involved, just punch and pray for the best. Oh, and you can take maybe two or three hits tops before going down. Good luck with that.

At least we can all look forward to the occasional story of someone breaking their Wiimote by stomping it.

Of course the original Street Fighter isn’t good. Why do you think you’ve probably never seen or heard of it?

I knew about it before, I just never ventured to play it. I figured why bother when there’s all the good ones to play. You only play as Ken and Ryu, right?

Curiosity apart, SFI is basically worth playing just to wonder how that game got turned to SFII.

edit: by that I mean it’s bad

There was only one real reason to play Fighting Street at least once, but not anymore thanks to SSFIV.

As seen here.

SFII, infidel.

Heard of it? Dude, I had the PC version. :too bad:

^

I didn’t really mean that as “no ur wrong,” I more meant “Pity my childhood.”

The PC version of Street Fighter, which came on a CD with PC ports of Street Fighter 2, Megaman, and Megaman 3, was infamously terrible, worse in every way to other versions of SFI. Which sucked to begin with. All of them were shitty, actually; In the SF2 port, there were two attack buttons and Dhalsim was inarguably the best character by so much that it wasn’t even fair. The Megaman ports weren’t really any better. It’s a miracle I still liked them enough to keep playing both series after those. It actually worked to my advantage for Street Fighter, I think, but it sucked for, like, two years.

Haha I know, i’m messing with you.

But yeah, I heard the PC versions are assballs. I read somewhere that the PC version of ST would crash if you did certain moves, lmao.

I don’t think I was ever able to actually use any to know. The ones in SF2 were equally hard to pull off, since it didn’t really understand quarter circle motions, until you figured out that F9-F11 would do the character’s three specials. This is what made Blanka and Zangief the next best, after Dhalsim.
