The Mailbag

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> Anywhere from 1 week to 1 month :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, normally, they should lasy about two weeks. But recently, the Mailbag Team seems to have had a lot of stuff on thier plates IRL.

Edit: And furthermore, the apathy doesn’t help any either. I don’t give a flying fuck if you don’t care about the mailbag since this isn’t addressed to you. I didn’t intend for this to suddenly motivate people who never did care.

I don’t give a damn who your favorite host is, and I most certainly do not care that you hate the mailbag and don’t want to write it. What even makes you think I want to hear that after I wrote all that.

“Well, the mailbag’s a piece of shit that’s boring and uninteresting, and I don’t want to have anything to do with it.”
“Okey-doke!”

But I would like to thank Rast, YK, Rirse, and I guess Rud, even though he only wrote a reply because I threatened to shoot him, for writing replies after seeing this.

When you post something on a public forum, you are going to get a numbr of replies all around the subject board. You asked for it by posting this in the first place.

To actually stay a bit on topic, when I did used to read the mailbag, I did see that almost 90% of everything sent in sucked. So yea, those of you who write in, do put more thought into it.

I’d like to say that I like more question and answer type mailbags - where people just rant about anything game related or ask our staff questions about whatever, and then weekly they put it in. However, I don’t quite think that would work around here, but I figured I’d just state my preference.

I read it because I enjoy seeing other people’s ideas on how to improve games or elements from games, etc etc. I don’t go to read it because it’s funny.

And I always try my hardest to stay on topic and not fill the submissions with fluff and crap. My reply will be as long as it takes to get my idea across, no more, no less.

Let’s see, since my last attempt at torturing Energon didn’t turn out so well (Man, I really thought Cyberenhanced Ninja Wolves would do the trick! :frowning: ), I’ll try this now.

Energon, you have to now make me a six-course meal. I want shrimp, spaghetti, Some fine merlot to go with it, the whole shebang! And you have to do it without using your hands. If you do use your hands, or I’m not pleased with the meal, I’ll chop off your thumbs, understand? Good, now get to it!

AH-hem… Just fooling with you Val. I do it alot too. I think its fun. I have to admit, my replies have gotten rather bad. I never realized it took 5 HOURS to do a mailbag. I’ll try harder this mailbag…

feels bad for his abuse of Kagon

5 hours is more of an extreme. It does take maybe 2 hours to get the actual script down then another hour at most for various editting, repositioning of stuff, HTML, etc.

shrugs It seems alright to me. I don’t think it is suppost to be extremely funny, it is just there to get other people’s point across or their viewpoints. These guys put a lot of effort into it.

As for me though, I read it if I see an interesting topic, and sometimes I’ll reply, but rarely.

I’m not one to criticize anything (not even my spelling ^^;; ), so I’ll leave the mailbag team to the mailbag and I’ll leave myself to the hideout. (you aren’t gonna rant about the hideout next, are you? ^^)

I read it sall the time, I am very interested in the oppinions of matters such as this.

That little bit of silly, pointless humor is what makes it fun!

Yeah, I realize not everybody will share my views, but to post something that simply says “I don’t give a shit” is useless. But I do like that you post an insult wrapped in a compliment to cushion the criticism and make it look like you’re not just complaining :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, it’s usually 2 weeks per mailbag, and no, I won’t do anything on the hideout. :stuck_out_tongue:

I won’t do anything on the hideout. :stuck_out_tongue:

yay!

Sporadic updates, well, when a mailbag can take 5 hours to more to do, and no one gives a flying fuck about it, there’s not much motivation to do one, now is there?

Then why do you do it?

Personally, I find that most topics are repetition of either old topics, and in addition to that, topics I didn’t answer the first time around because I had no opinion.

And like I said, my suggestions aren’t much better.

Why do I do it? I don’t know anymore. It’s the same reason of why do I work here? I try to help people or in the case of the mailbag, try to provide some source of amusement or entertainment for those who want to get their mind off their life and just relax. If I did it for praise, I would have said fuck it a long time ago because we don’t get it. However, the praise is what keeps us going in a way. I don’t care about all the people who say you suck- they can go fuck themselves for all I care. It’s when you get that earnest letter or compliment from someone that makes it all worth while.

Now of course, we can work without it- hell, we have been. But now when you see people saying stuff like how good the mailbag is while you’re there, and then when you turn your back they bitch about how it sucks, well, kinda shakes you up there.

Now I might sound like I’m just begging for praise, and I certainly am not. I won’t lower myself to that level and never will. If you think I am, then you sure as hell don’t know me very well. I’m stating the reasons behind how this all works.

Why do I do it? I probably won’t.

Mailbag Kagon tastes far finer than message board or chat Kagon.

CH, shut up.

Anyway, I didn’t realize that things were, well, that rocky. I would have volunteered to help out, but I don’t play well with others (read: 984) and I was planning on doing that thing opposite the mailbag with TD; but I guess I had a falling out with TD or something, so forget that.

By telling you that I don’t like the mailbag, I don’t mean to step on your toes - and for the sheer fact that I have far too much respect for you to lie to you about something as trivial as the mailbag, I’m just telling you like it is. I’ve never really liked the mailbag, reagardless of who was doing it. I always look and see what the topic is though, in case it’s something I want to reply too.

Oh, I’m in no way, shape, or form upset with you Sorc.

CH, shut up.

Man, we all know that isn’t happening.

I just have to say that I think the mailbags are pretty good. The repetition of topics is esential. You will always eventually have to use a topic over again. Besides, peoples opinions changes from when Macc was doing it. And even with the 3 or so hours, that is time out of THEIR schedule, and they are doing it for US, people. If you dont read the mailbag, fine. But don’t say how much it sucks and how much you could do better. Even if you could (which many of you (and myself) couldn’t) do better, you would probably not have the time, anyway. These guys deserve at least SOME credit for putting up with the crap and doing it.

Looks to see if they left

Ok, they’re gone. Man, I hate the mailbag so much. It sucks so bad.
