A creature with opposable thumbs or tentacles, since those work equally, just about, for maniupation (if they’re designed well enough) or any other limb that would end in some sort of adhesive from which it could pick stuff up. I think some flies have it on their front limbs or something, but I really don’t know. Just to throw out their are advanced manipulators besides opposable digits.

Oh, at the cat brain thing is a load of shit. They have a bigger cerebrum-to-cerebellum ratio than a lot of animals, but there is a WHOLE lot more important than that, when it comes to brains. Surface area, for example, I’m pretty sure cats are way behind, there.

I’d say overall, it depends on how things went down, but, I’m pretty sure robots would inherit the earth far, far in the future, after the Cataclysm kills most humans, their population will slowly dwindle due to a low survivability of infants and children, until the reproduciton rate is lower than the death rate with no sign of increasing. That’s when the robots truly win.

In all likelihood, what will stem from humankind is a higher evolved lifeform. Thusly, it would be none of the things listed. It will be something completely different.

They have opposable digits. That can change into plasma cannons. Well, I’m not really sure if they’re plasma. They shoot stuff, though. That kills other robots, and eventually all humans. The robot victory will occur slightly before 20XX, while they eventual annihilation of humans comes much later.

EDIT: Oh, and other than brain-dead (bad trait), lesbian (difficult to reproduce), and twins (gene-pool limitation city, gang) they sound pretty great.
Although, if they reproduce asexually and simply have no genetic flaws to pass on, brain dead is the only problem.

Actually, I believe this is a sign that the cat thinks slower than a normal cat. Most cats think too quickly to see anything on a tv screen. But if they’re kind of slow in the head they can and will watch tv. Course I don’t remember my source for that, so don’t quote me. ^^

There’s a kids book that uses this topic as the theme. It begins, “No one knows what happened to the last human being. I mean the only one who could’ve written it wasn’t there to write about it.”

I have nothing really inciteful to add to this discussion though. Everything that could be said has been said. Although robots have my vote.
