The Final Saga

I have the feeling that this battle will end with Nyarlatothep seemingly nearly destroying Naar (and everyone else) only discover to his horror that Naar has been feigning defeat and has used the opportunity to strike an agonising fatal blow, perhaps by exploiting Nyarlatothep’s arrogance and desire to wreak vengeance on Naar. Naar will then not only utterly destroy Nyarlatothep in a violent and humiliating manner, but also absorb all of his evil power and become unimaginably powerful himself.

That means in turn that Lone Wolf and his allies had better find the last two Lorestones and harness the power of all seven as soon as possible.

Sorry, but the chapter won’t be ready until Saturday, at the earliest. It’s been a bitch to write.

The Final Saga part 99: Last Stand
By d_Galloway

“M-Master,” gurgled Galloway.

Lone Wolf turned to the young Kai Lord. “I do not understand how this has come to pass,” he whispered, “but this could be our last chance. Just concentrate on healing your body.”

With that, he turned to Nyarl, who at last had begun to take note of the radical increase in power. The dark god turned, his eyes flaming with rage. “You still think you can survive? Bow down while you still can, mortal!”

Lone Wolf raised the sword. “Do you recognize this blade? It is the Sommerswerd, the sacred weapon of the Kai. It will be the death of you, fowl creature.”

Nyarl stood in stunned silence for about ten seconds, before suddenly erupting in shrill, malice-filled laughter. “You think you can destroy me with…a mere toy?! I am the ultimate power! I control all life and all death! You cannot possibly hope to-”

Nyarl’s monologuing was cut short when Lone Wolf slashed across his chest, his sword still glowing with the golden flame. The dark god screamed in pain, clutching his large chest gash, black blood oozing from the wound. After only a few moments, however, the wound was completely healed, and Nyarl’s alarm turned back to one of sheer power, while Lone Wolf was seemingly caught off guard.

Raising his hand, Nyarl fired a massive blast of demonic energy, the explosion completely engulfing Lone Wolf and nearly blowing the rest of the part off the platform. When the dust cleared, however, Lone Wolf was hardly fazed, the Sommerswerd raised in a defensive position. Cursing, Nyarl tackled Lone Wolf, pinning him to the ground and raising one claw in preperation to gouge out his eyes.

Suddenly, a massive lightning bolt raced right into Nyarl’s eyes, knocking him off balance. This allowed Lone Wolf, revitalized by the powers of the Sommerswerd, to throw the dark god off and stab him through the chest. Nyarl, however, knocked Lone Wolf off with a single swipe, sending the Sommerswerd away with him. Both Wilfredos, meanwhile, prepared to fire another combined lightning blast, but Nyarl telekinetically tore part of the platform loose and flung it at the two, forcing both to duck long enough for Nyarl to teleport behind them and run both through with his claws.

As they both fell to the ground, Nyarl returned his attention to Lone Wolf, who fired a bolt of golden fire at the being. The dark god dodged, only to run into the path of the other dark god. Naar threw Nyarl into the air, allowing Kerr and Gemini to get a clear shot with their respective distance attacks. As Nyarl fell to the ground, Ryelandt raised Gungnir one more time and threw the spear right into the orb. Nyarl screamed in pain, but quickly removed the spear and threw it aside, using a wave of pure evil to knock the three heroes out for the count.

Lone Wolf leaped at Nyarl, tearing another large wound in the god’s back; like before, the wound healed, but was slightly slower this time around. Naar charged forward, but was kicked straight through the soulnado, landing hard on the other side. Despite being in the soulnado for only a few seconds, the remaining purity was strong enough to severely wound the god, and he lay on the floor, pure white smoke rising from his mangled form.

That left only Lone Wolf to face Nyarl. The Kai Supreme Master raised the Sommersword, impaling Nyarl as he approached and quickly tearing the blade through the dark god’s side. However, the wound healed itself once again, and Nyarl lifted Lone Wolf by the top of the head, slammed him repeatedly into the ground, and threw him hard against the rubble. The Sommerswerd fell to the ground next to him, its flame extinguished.

Nyarl looked at the destroyed battlefield, surveying his defeated adversaries. “Finally!” he shouted. “I have won! All of existance is mine to create, to destroy, to-”

“YOU TALK TOO MUCH, FOOL!”

Gemini, once again a phoenix, charged into Nyarl, knocing the dark god hard against the ground. The orb containing Agarash’s soul tumbled from the god’s grasp and rolled in front of a rising Wil, who was obviously mortally wounded. Nyarl quickly overpowered the phoenix, throwing the creature to the ground, but his focus was centered on the orb. Sensing what he had to do, Wil summoned the last of his strength and fired an Ultima spell as the orb, slamming it head on. The resulting explosion was nowhere near as large as a full-powered Ultima spell, but it was enough to completely shatter the orb.

As Wil fell lifeless to the ground, Nyarl screamed in agony as his control over the soul continuum instantly vanished. A green-black mist rose from the orb and flew into Naar, completely healing the God of Evil. Phoenix Gemini to both Wilfredo Martinezs, bending over each in calm collection. Lone Wolf attempted to return to consciousness, but Nyarl grabbed him by the tunic and raised him to his face. “If I cannot destroy the multiverse, then I shall settle with you and Martinez!”

Suddenly, a bolt of golden fire tore into Nyarl’s arm, forcing him to drop his prey. He turned angrily, eyeing a fully restored d Galloway, his hands firmly gripping the golden hilt of the Sommerswerd, his eyes showing an increased strength. Both Wils rose, completely unharmed, and the phoenix went to work on Ryelandt and Kerr. Naar looked at the spectacle in a mixture of curiosity and fear.

“There is more than one Kai,” said Galloway. “Come, let’s finish this.”

Meanwhile, in a small corner of the multiverse, where life had been erased, reality began to return…

THE END OF PART 99
Next time: THE BIG 100! The climatic showdown with Nyarl!

Damn, I have a lot of catching up to do with this story.

You have been really working hard Galloway, keep it up.

The Final Saga part 100: Victory or Defeat
By d_Galloway

Nyarlathotep raised both hands and fired a massive black orb of energy, but Galloway sliced through the projectile. Kerr fired a barrage of finger energy beams, striking Nyarl like a machine gun. Ryelandt threw Gungnir right into the center of Nyarl’s massive black form, but the spear passed right through, the hole immediately closing itself. Wil 2 fired a massive Ultima spell, while Wil followed with a Meteo spell. As Nyarl fell back to the ground, the Phoenix slammed onto his body, tearing at both eyes with flaming claws. Naar simply stood back and watched as Nyarl threw Gemini’s body off and roared with absolute rage.

“You…wretched mortals!” he bellowed. “I am still next to the soul continuum! I am immortal! I am eternal! I am-”

Galloway stabbed Nyarl in the stomach, and like his master had done, tore the blade through the side. The power of the Sommerswerd was so great, that the wound was seared closed. Nyarl roared in agony, the massive chunk of missing flesh refusing to heal. The god of humanity’s evil collapsed to the platform, as Galloway raised the Sommerswerd to its head. “Now it ends…”

Suddenly, a black tentacle grabbed Galloway from behind, lifting him into the air. The Sommerswerd toppled to the ground, while Galloway tried to force his way free. All eyes fell upon Naar, but the God of Evil simply looked coldly at each of them. “This is not my doing, fools! Concentrate on Nyarl!”

Suddenly, Nyarl ceased his spell, dropping Galloway onto the ground hard. The evil god leaped onto his helpless target and tore into his left check, ripping out a large chunk of flesh. A shield erupted over the two, completely blocking off any attempts to knock Nyarl off. “You…accursed saiyan!” he growled. “Naar was right to fear you! You and Martinez…will die here!”

The old man’s eyes opened, startling Weiila and Nel. They were empty and pupilless, seemingly transfixed on an event that was nowhere near their current position. “It is almost done,” he said. “The destruction of us all comes a step closer.”

Galloway gurgled as Nyarl’s grip around his throat tightened. Everyone else tried to somehow break through the barrier, but nothing was working. Suddenly, Wil 2 raced towards the Sommerswerd, only to pull his smoking hand back as soon as it had grasped the hilt. “What the hell?”

“Only a…Kai Lord can use the Sommerswerd…”

Lone Wolf pulled himself off the rubble, his body still bloodied and torn, although nowhere near the same level as it had been a few minutes prior. He grasped the sword, which sparked to life almost immediately, raised it straight ahead with all his might, and whispered a small prayer in an alien tongue. Suddenly, a massive bolt of fire erupted from the sword’s tip and raced to the barrier. The moment it crashed into the field, Nyarl roared in mortal agony, as the entire barrier turned a fiery red for a few seconds before vanishing completely. Taking advantage of the brief respite, Galloway threw Nyarl off…

And sent the evil god right into Naar’s outstretched blade. Nyarl screamed and tried to pull himself free, but Naar grabbed him by the head and pulled him farther against the blade. “D-D…Damn you,” coughed Nyarl.

“A pity it must end like this,” said Naar. “We could have had the entire multiverse at our beck and call. Instead, you tried to take it all at once. I don’t tolerate greed, especially from my generals.”

Suddenly, Nyarl raised his left arm and drove his claws beneath Naar’s helmet. The god of evil roared and fell back, causing Nyarl to draw out long threads of black slime as the sword retracted. Just before the slime began to slide from Nyarl’s clawtips back into Naar’s helmet, the god of humanity’s evil managed to pull free, his wound already beginning to heal. Lone Wolf tossed Galloway the Sommerswerd, and the whole party moved in on Nyarl, who was now preparing some sort of suicide spell.

Just before it could be cast, the voice from the gazebo rang out. “Nyarlatothep! Your time has come!”

Nyarl looked around the sky angrilly. “Philemon!”

Gemini’s flaming eyes scanned the area as well. “COME OUT, COWARD!”

As Wil 2 looked around in expectation, a voice rang in his mind.

“Wilfredo, for the time we have worked together, there are many things I have never told you. One is very important now: this battle was an attempt to delay the inevitable. I was to stand as the force of humanity’s good, a protector, and yet I used those I was meant to protect as pawns. It is time I…nay, we all, atone for our actions.”

Wil 2 began to say something, but the voice quickly returned. “I do not know what will happen after this, but it must end now. Nyarlathotep must be destroyed, but it will be at my own hands. Remember, do not judge your alternate, for you have committed many poor actions yourself, and do not trust those who seem the most trustworthy, for at the coming battle, they will be the ones who will betray you. Farewell, my old friend.”

Suddenly, a figure of pure light raced from above, grabbed Nyarl, and dragged him into the soul continuum. The screams of the two were intermingled with the sounds of combat, signifying a fierce combat. The noise grew more and more distant, before vanishing completely, as everything began to fade into darkness.

After what seemed like an eternity, the party felt themselves landing on a field of grass. Galloway was the first to rise; he saw they were back in RPGC, just outside the Task Force HQ. The entire force they had gathered circled around them, applying medicine, trying to figure out what had occurred, etc. Finally, after nearly an hour, the crowd broke up, many of them returning home to rest after a long time of battle.

Galloway looked at those that had been brought into battle alongside him. Naar was obviously missing, but so were Lone Wolf and Wil. Only Wil 2, Gemini, Kerr, and Ryelandt remained. Shrugging it off, he joined them in entering the Task Force HQ for some coffee.

Naar examined his throne room, secretely glad that it had been restored to its dark glory. Belladonna entered the chamber, bowing before him when she was within fifteen feet. “My love, we do not understand what occurred, but we still live to serve you. What do you wish for us to do?”

“Muster the remaining generals into the war room,” said Naar. “We have a long conquest ahead of us.”

Nyarl suddenly tumbled out of the portal, only to find himself lying in a massive cavern of ice. A pair of heavy footsteps alerted him to a familiar figure’s approach: Mox.

“Well, well, well,” said the black mage. “Look what the cat dragged in.”

“And that’s it,” said Wil 2.

“…Man, this has gotten way too complicated,” said Heaven’s Soldier.

“Tell me about it,” said Galloway. “To think this all started with my dead wife. Speaking of which, where is Val?”

“Last I checked, she and Loki were asleep in the bunker,” said Mabat. “You…don’t think he’ll take it, do you?”

“I doubt it,” said Galloway. “And where’s Trisha? And Weiila?”

“And Nel?” asked Gemini.

Suddenly, a portal opened in the ceiling, and Weiila and Nel tumbled out, Weiila still in her chibi form. “So, where were you guys?” asked kiro.

Weiila’s face turned pure red as she told them. “We found the only damn bastards that can break this curse, and what happens? They give me a bloody rain check!”

“…Huh?” asked GG Crono.

Nel sighed. “They said they have to fetch what’s left of some god who got his butt kicked. I think his name was Phil-something.” Wil 2’s face turned pure white.

“So…you’re still cursed at this time?” said Kerr.

“Shut it, sonny-jim,” said Weiila, trying to act as stern as a child could be.

“Well, now that everything is neatly wrapped up,” said Rio, “I say we turn in for the night.”

Suddenly, the doorbell rang. Sighing, Galloway got up to answer, only to be immediately grabbed by a pair of robed hands. Wil 2 ran up to check, but was grabbed as well. “Uh…we’re being kidnapped, apparently!” shouted Galloway.

“Right, cool, see ya,” said Heaven’s Soldier.

THE END OF PART 100

Next time: The Gatekeepers.

I am glad to see that you are once again composing new material for this work. It is exciting as always!

Okay, chapter’s done.

rofl, nice ending Galloway.

Gotta say I like how the story’s going.

Ya know, it’s nice to see I care about Galloway being kidnapped. After all the help he has been with all these problems, that he is partly the blame of.

The Final Saga part 101: The Turning Point
By d_Galloway

Galloway slowly opened his eyes, his body feeling wrecked and battered all over. He looked at himself, and saw that he was hanging shirtless from a ceiling, his wrists chained to a long pole. Wil 2 was next to him, looking around in hopes of finding some escape. They were now inside a large, steel chamber, hanging over a vat of sulphuric acid. A metal catwalk stood on both sides, with several robed, hooded figures standing in silence. “Uh…hi,” muttered Galloway.

A single figure raised his hands, and Galloway felt something rip into his back, following by the feeling of dripping blood. The motioning figure approached the end of the catwalk, as another throng of pain ripped through Galloway’s back. The figure raised his hand, and Galloway heard something begin to lower. “What the hell was-”

A voice in his head answered. “Silence! You are both guilty of heinous crimes against the multiverse!”

“Well, he is, but-” stammered Wil 2.

“I said silence!” said the voice. “You are to be judged by our masters, the ones that hold the great multiverse in balance, the ones that both of you have defied and tried to destroy.”

Suddenly, a piercing shriek erupted through their minds, quickly rendering them unconscious once again. Instead of blank emptiness, however, they saw a maelstrom-filled sky over a bleak, decaying landscape. Both found themselves lying on a plateau, their bodies completely devoid of injury. The two picked themselves from the ground…and saw the faces of enormous demons staring back at them. Both recognized them, but for different reasons. “THE TRIAL SHALL COMMENCE!” they shouted in unison.

The few remaining gods returned to the Elder Gods chamber, desperate to hammer out some resolution as to what their actions should be. Although there were sweeping arguments on all sides, the different factions were unable to decide on anything, instead causing even more friction in their ranks.

Odin and Kai entered the meeting late, only to find it in absolute chaos. “It’s times like this I wish Ishir was still here,” said Kai.

“We don’t need her!” said Odin. “It was her doing that caused this war, remember?”

“She prevented a meaningless conflict!” said Kai. “If by giving meaning to our war is a crime, then yes, but she managed to prevent a fruitless, eternal war! We may have a chance now to destroy Naar and end this forever!”

“I doubt it,” said Odin. “I’ve observed your heroes. They keep getting distracted by side things! This should have ended a long time ago! And what of Loki? He’s waiting to act, I tell you-”

“Enough of this!” said Kai. “I’m going to try to restore some order to this meeting. If you do not wish to aid me, then leave at once!”

“As you wish, old friend,” said Odin, bowing slightly before leaving Kai to deal with the frenzied confusion.

“What are we being charged with?” shouted Wil 2.

“You are all guilty of crimes against the multiverse,” said the demons. “We have been tasked with proctecting the many dimensions and planes of the multiverse by our masters, and will carry out our duties however we see fit!”

“…Preachy,” said Galloway.

“Wilfredo Martinez,” said the voices, “you are guilty of negligence on a grand scale. Dimensional travel was outlawed eons before your universe even existed, and yet you sought to breach the barriers, travel to distant realms, all in the name of exploration, discovery, adventure, and learning.”

“How is that a crime?” said Wil 2.

“It would not be, had you taken greater care,” said the voices. “You foolishly used magic to assist your travels, never thinking about the consequences.”

Wil 2 was dumbfounded. “What are you talking about?”

“The magic used in warping and breaching dimensional barriers comes from the same source: the dimensional barriers themselves,” said the voices. “If used in only small amounts, with a period of three to five of your world’s days, the barrier would fully heal itself, and no harm would come. However, you made so many repeat visits through the same barriers, as well as those proximate to them, that the barriers were unbale to support the universe any longer, and collapsed. We would be able to mend some of the damage, but even we have limits.”

“But…how did our machines miss it?” said Wil 2. “Surely that little error mentioned-”

“We did not understand at first,” said the voices. “Then our agents learned of your miscalculation. You tampered with a force you did not fully comprehend, and as a result, hundreds of universed were utterly destroyed.”

Wil 2 collapsed to his knees, his eyes streaming with tears. “No…I couldn’t…I wouldn’t…”

“Your sentence has been decided!” said the voices. “DEATH!”

“Whoa whoa whoa!” shouted Galloway. “First off, you guys haven’t been exactly peachy clean in your duty!”

“And you!” said the voices. “What claim do you have to approach us? You murdered one of our own! You destroyed him with that accursed Soul Reaver, and with that act comitted your first crime against the gods! You are more deserving of death than this man; at least he comitted some virtuous acts during his life!”

“And you don’t know ANYTHING about Seroli!” said Galloway. “That thing had taken the souls of an entire planet, and was prepared to do the same to others. Apparantly, you don’t care when one of your own goes out of his way to erase an entire civilization!”

“We have heard enough!” shouted the voices.

Galloway pointed to Wil 2. “Why are you accusing him? You could have mended those dimensional barriers yourselves! Why didn’t you?”

“We are not infinite!” said the voices. “We were-”

“BUSY ELSEWHERE?!” shouted Wil 2, regaining his former strength. “What could so preoccupy you that you would let entire universes die!”

“We were ordered by one of our masters to ensure the Plane of Evil remained open,” said the voices.

“You…WHAT?!” said Galloway. “You mean you let Naar go?”

“He is a god,” said the voices. “We can never disobey a god.”

“Naar tried to corrupt you all!” said Wil 2. “With you under his complete control, he would have been able to conquer the entire multiverse with ease!”

The voices were silent, their demonic heads locked on the two. The hapless heroes finally realized they may have made a VERY stupid mistake. Finally, the voices returned. “We have comunned with the gods. In our blindness, we did not learn that Naar had destroyed many of his fellow gods. They have ordered us to abandon his orders. Furthermore, the mortal known as Galloway is right, our brother had indeed become corrupted. We will briefly forgive his transgression.”

Galloway could barely hold his excitement at his continued existance. “As for the other,” continued the voices, “we will show mercy. His companions may permenantly return to their world, and their ability to cross universes remain, but on two conditions. First, we will monitor these travels; should we find any of you lapsing into your old habits, we will react harshly. Second, this Wilfredo Martinez must remain in Galloway’s world, until such a time that he has been forgiven.”

Wil 2 hung his head, doubly defeated this day. The area around them suddenly went black, and the two found themselves back in the metal room. The bar seemed to lift itself, move over past the vat of acid, and spin vertically, dumping the two onto the catwalk. The robed figures quickly removed their chains. “You are now free,” said the voices. “Return to your homes, and remember, you have an ally.”

MUCH LATER…

Wil 2 and Galloway returned to the Task Force HQ, now late at night. The only person waiting for them was Trisha, her head sung sadly. “Where were you?” she said, not even bothering to look up.

“Long story,” groaned Galloway. “Where were you, anyway?”

“I was…” she began, before falling onto Galloway, tears flowing freely from her eyes. “It’s- It’s horrible!”

“What’s going on?” said Wil 2.

“I just returned home…to check on everyone,” said Trisha, “and someone…someone…”

Suddenly, there was a loud knock at the door. Cursing his misfortune, Galloway seperated from Trisha and opened the door…and was promptly slammed in the face by a big-ass hammer.

The Final Saga part 102: Choosing Sides
By d_Galloway

After a few seconds of painful slow motion, Galloway was sent flying into the far back of the Task Force’s meeting room, crashing into the table with enough force to shatter both the table itself and the floor beneath it. In the doorway stood a giant of a man, his hair and beard a mane of red hair, his clothing an ornate red garment with a large belt and iron gloves. In his hands was the very weapon that had struck him; a large war hammer. The attacker strode into the chamber without so much as a second thought, while Trisha and Wil 2 backed away in alarm.

Galloway, meanwhile, continued to lay on the ground, the only signs of life being his blinking eyes. The attacker strode to his prey, his eyes locked on his badly beaten form. “What a dissapointment. I had hoped even a mortal Kai Lord would present some form of challenge.” He raised his hammer over his head, but was thrown aside by a lightning blast from Wil 2. The shock sent him off balance, but otherwise the figure was unharmed.

Wil 2 approached the giant. “All right, who the heck are you?”

“I am Thor, son of Odin and Jord,” said the giant. “I have come to destroy d Galloway and Loki. Stand aside, mortal, and you shall not be harmed!”

Wil 2’s mind was filled with confusion at the announcemet; the norse gods were known for their amorality, but why would they be after Galloway? Trisha, however, was filled with another emotion altogether: absolute rage. “YOU! You killed Ezekiel and Zoe!” Galloway’s eyes flung open at the remark.

“If you mean the children, I am sorry my lady,” said Thor. “I had thought to search your home first. Two of your companions tried to fight me, and the children got into my path. All four were effortlessly destroyed.” Galloway’s hands began to painfully form into a pair of fists. “My targets are Galloway and Loki. Bring the other to me, and I shall leave this realm at once!”

“Why should we trust you?” asked Wil 2.

“Because I have the big hammer!” said Thor. “What other reason do I need?!”

“Ah, how are you, dear nephew?”

Everyone turned to see the figure of Loki standing in the kitchen, accompanied by the still soulless Valkyrie Esker. Thor raised his hammer in a rage. “Foul traitor! Come and face me, and let us end this pointless slaughter!”

“What I don’t see,” said Loki, “is why you’re after Galloway. How has he angered our ‘beloved’ father?”

“Watch your tongue, cur!” said Thor. “Did you not hear? Your daughter, Hel, lies dead, swallowed by the frozen underworld! The mortal known as Mox has converted this realm into his own. Mortals have grown too powerful, Loki! They must-”

Loki hung his head sadly. “I know of Hel’s death, yes. But I do not see how this relates to your presence here. What are you-”

“Father has allied himself with Naar!” said Thor. “He wishes to bring the mortals to heel!”

Galloway had heard enough. Mustering every inch of strength in his body, he leaped onto his opponent, trying to pull him over by the neck. However, Thor easily grabbed him by the shoulder and bodyslammed him into the hard ground, shattering many of the bones in his body. Wil 2 quickly moved for a counter spell, but Thor slammed him against the wall with a quick swipe of his hammer. Loki transformed into a hawk and charged at Thor, but the god uppercutted him even farther into the air, the trickster reverting to normal just before hitting the ground.

Now satisfied that he had won, Thor moved to finish Loki…only to suddenly feel his hammer clang to the ground. He looked down, and saw Trisha trying to tear up his body, her eyes filled with blind and desperate fury. He slammed her aside, possibly to her death were it not for Loki ordering Val to catch the catgirl in mid-air. It was not until this last-minute save, however, that Thor realized what had happened: during her attack, Trisha’s claws had ripped off his belt.

Wil 2 raced to the hammer and tried to push it out of the way, but the handle alone felt like it weighed close to five tons; he couldn’t even budge it a millimeter. Meanwhile, Thor moved to Valkryie Esker and punched her across the face, knocking her unconscious. He moved to his belt, but Trisha realized what was going on and tossed it towards the quarters. Meanwhile, Heaven’s Soldier moved out to see what all the noise was about, and got a belt across the face for his efforts.

Once he saw the giant racing towards him, he realized what was going on, and activated the bunker’s security alarm. A high-pitched screech roared through the entire building, driving nearly everyone to madness. Thor himself roared in agony, a feeling he had only occasionally felt during his millenia of existance. Unable to cope with what to do, he pushed Wil 2 away from his hammer, lifted it as best he could, opened a shadow gate, and raced through, the gate closing behind him.

The thunder god fumbled through the other side of the gate, landing in front of Odin’s throne in Valhalla. His father stared at him with cold indifference. “You failed.”

“Yes, father,” said Thor. “They stole the belt. I am unable to lift-”

“Silence,” said Odin. “We have greater problems now. No doubt Kai will hear from his beloved students that we are tampering in their affairs. If they do, Naar will have no use for us, and will cast us aside like the other gods. There must be one on Midgard that has a chance of defeating him…”

“What of the Valkyrie Robyn?” asked Thor. “She has defeated him several times. Surely she-”

Suddenly, Lenneth entered the hall, quickly bowing before Odin. “We have located Robyn’s soul. We will need to recover her as soon as possible, though; who knows what plans Loki has for her?”

Odin pointed to his closed eye socket. “I know, my dear,” he said. “Bring the other sisters with you. Kill anyone that gets in your way. Remember, this is for the future of our brethren.”

Lenneth replied with a quiet, “Yes, Lord Odin,” and left the hall, her eyes downcast, her mind filled with doubts and confusion.

“So the NORSE GODS are after us?” asked Heaven’s Soldier.

“Seems that way,” said Galloway. He finished his third cup of coffee with a single gulp, the caffine doing wonders on the paint that racked his body. “Now would be a good time for Lone Wolf and Wil to be here.”

“A-hem!” said Wil 2.

“Don’t talk to me, destroyer of worlds,” said Galloway.

Heaven’s Soldier held up the belt. “And what do we do with this, hmm?”

“It’s Megingjord, the belt that allows Thor to lift his hammer, Mjolnir,” said Loki. “Of course, it’s useless without the iron gloves, and besides, I doubt it’ll fit anyone here.”

“Those children…” muttered Trisha. “This monster has to be stopped.”

“I more than agree with you,” growled Galloway. “But we can’t just rush at a bunch of gods. We need to-”

kiro slowly stumbled out of the hallway, carrying a helpless Rio along with her. “Huh…what’s going on?” she yawned.

“Just a god of thunder trying to kill Galloway,” said Heaven’s Soldier. “You can go back to sleep.” kiro nodded in agreement, stopped Rio from running to the crawlspace underneath the stove, and carried the hellhound back to bed.

THE END OF PART 102

Next time: The Clone Saga! is immediately mutilated by the combined force of Spider-Man fans and haters of old jokes

So… the mighty Thor runs. How sweet that is.

Pity I wasn’t there to laugh.

Great, Odin is now on Naar’s side.

And not to mention I just got hit in the face with a belt. Nice.

I am surprised that Thor did not absorb the lightning spell, being a god of storms.

Well, this REALLY needed to be updated, so…here goes!

The Final Saga part 103: Clone Saga
By d_Galloway

For the first time in weeks, everyone in RPGC managed to catch a full night’s sleep, seemingly free from the threats of evil gods, insane wizards, other dimensions, and complete erasure from the space-time continuum. At the same time, however, there was only one being who could no longer sleep, and in fact who could possibly never know about sleep again. He was forever doomed to a restless eternity, free from love and hope…

Darkness Beckons slowly wandered into the kitchen, and saw Glenton already awake, sags underneath his eyes, his face pale from worry. The strange being sighed pitifully at the sight. “Alright, what happened to you?”

“Three days ago…I saved a five-year-old boy from a rampaging hockey player,” said Glenton. “And the worst part is…I didn’t hold him for ransom afterwards! I just handed him over to his rich mother!” He broke down into tears. “I’ve become everything I’ve ever hated!”

“…Two kids were killed by a rogue norse god,” said Beck. “If it helps you any, Galloway and the catgirl were crying most of the night. I suppose you get your strength from misery, so-”

“I get my strength from WEALTH and POWER!” bawled Glenton. “Misery is just a bonus!”

Thor stood in the Hall of Valhalla, directly in front of his father’s throne. Odin himself stared angrily at his son with his one eye, barely able to contain his absolute rage. “You…insolent curr! Your failure may expose us to the other gods!”

Thor did not even look up when he spoke. “Father, why are we doing this? What do we gain from joining Naar and his legions?”

Odin’s response was immediate. “Do not question me! This is for the importance of us all! RPGC has begun to grow too powerful, and with Loki on their side, they will be practically unstoppable. Once, we were worshipped by all matter of mortals; now, we are forced to live our existance in this pathetic shell of a world, and why? Because we were thrown out of every other universe!”

“Father…this is madness!” said Thor. “Naar would not allow us to live! We would be too much of a threat-”

Odin threw himself from his throne, his eye burning with pure hatred. “Thor! Leave my presence at once! Without your hammer, you are worthless to my designs!” With no other option, Thor left Valhalla, his mind stirring in anger at both his father and RPGC.

At about ten-o’-clock, Galloway emerged from the Airship Hangar, somehow managing to stand after the savage beating he had received the previous night. His head was badly bandaged, his right arm held in a sling for some reason. The rest of RPGC was already gathered in the meeting room, talking amongst each other in very loud, very angry tones. Somehow, Galloway knew this was about the clones outside; he could only hope the Task Force could snap some sense into them…

Then he saw the entire Task Force already intermingled with the crowd, shouting for the deaths of the clones. “Yep…they’re doomed,” he said.

Weiila and Nel awoke to find themselves back in the white space, lying in front of the mysterious old man. “I see that your allies have survived their encounter with Naar and his allies,” said the old man. “That is good. The next step, however, will not be so easy. The norse gods have aligned themselves with Naar’s forces. The Gatekeepers have become overly zealous in their duties. And Nyarlathotep has survived his defeat, and is now a tool of Mox. Philemon was not so lucky; I doubt he will ever fully regain physical form.”

“…And how does this concern us?” asked Nel.

“OR my problem?” asked Weiila.

“I called you here to assist me,” said the old man. “RPGC is in grave danger. Naar seeks to destroy the Kai, of which only Galloway, Lone WOlf, and the false Fourth Order remain. With their destruction, Naar will have a much simpler time in his conquest.”

Galloway was dragged to the front of the meeting room, right next to the computer. There was a general call for blood and death; he was obviously in danger. “Hey! What’s going on?”

“Why the hell are the clones here?” shouted Sinistral. Everyone nodded in agreement.

“They’re going to rebuild RPGCity!” said Galloway. “Just give me a little time, and-”

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Everyone prepared for more torch-bearing peasants; instead, they saw one of the clones. “Uh…I have a message. We’re finished with the construction.”

Everyone rushed out of the bunker, and sure enough, RPGCity was completely rebuilt; in fact, the entire city was expanded considerably, with additional military defences, a five-story police headquarters, two new hospitals, five million Starbucks and McDonalds, and a casino/hotel on the outskirts of town. “…It’s amazing what can be accomplished with a bunch of willing slaves,” said Merlin. “I need to remember that for the future.”

“Alright, clones,” said Galloway. “Go…work in the casino or something.” The clones obediently ran off. Galloway turned to Merlin, Sin, Macc, Kagon, Lunaris, Cidolfas, and the like, who were still wondering what amazing plot relevance would emerge from the legalization of gambling within the confines of RPGC. “They’ll be harmless there for now. I’ll try to find some way to get rid of them.”

“…You’d better,” said Sin. The rest of RPGC (save the Task Force) marched off, and Galloway wandered back into the medical bay. There was only two people he could ask for advice on this…

Naar, Belladonna, Snuggles, and a number of monstrous beings of assorted shapes and sizes, stood over a massive map of RPGC, with several key areas carefully marked. “I should have known better than to trust Odin to such an important task. If only Ukyou was alive…”

“No matter, my lord,” said Belladonna. “RPGC’s defenses are slim at best. We can take her at any time you wish.”

Naar was thoughtful for several minutes. “No…we must not attack yet. There is much to prepare. Mox must be brought down before he gains too much power, Nyarlathotep’s whereabouts are still unknown, and the Kai Lords still live.”

“But-” roared one of the creatures.

Naar stared intently at the monstrosity, which began to gurgle and shriek amongst a series of crunching noises, like feet walking over dried cereal. The creature began to collapse, its body convulsing and shivering wildly. Finally, what was left of the monstrosity crumpled to the ground, its entire internal body structure crushed to powder, blood pouring out of every poor and oriface. “I…trust there are no other objections,” said Naar, calmly as ever. Everyone rapidly agreed, and ran off to summon the Giaks to clean up the remains.

“And so, seeing as you’re one of the clones, I was wondering if you had any suggestions about…you know, places to live?”

F. Galloway sat almost post-like on the bed, her eyes betraying a combination of anger, disgust, revulsion, and a craving for a good bacon cheeseburger. Yellow Tiger also stood in one corner, but she was obviously preoccupied with something else at the moment. “How the hell should I know about the clones?!” said F. Galloway. “I only found out I was one TWO DAYS AGO!”

Galloway sighed heavily. “Look, as funny as it is to have a thousand copies of RPGC’s third least favorite person, I really need to get them out of here before a panic erupts, and I REALLY don’t want to have to shoot myself a thousand times.”

“Uh…huh…” said F. Galloway. “Well, why not just pound a planet into a square? That seemed to work for Superman.”

“I can’t get into space right now,” said Galloway. “The SoL’s destroyed, and the Bunker’s still locked up somewhere. Besides, there’s the thing about the lack of oxygen, plus I don’t even WANT to think of the reprecussions a square planet would have on gravity, planetary rotation, climate, and the like.”

The two looked at him with a mixture of surprise and revulsion. “Uh…it’s the…Mary Sue potion,” said Galloway. “Man, I wish someone would just-”

Suddenly, a spear ran through Galloway’s back, sending the saiyan tumbling to the floor. F. Galloway and Tiger quickly searched for the thrower, but saw none. Even the spear magically vanished after a few seconds, leaving only a very badly-wounded saiyan/kai lord lying on the floor.

MEANWHILE, IN THE DAZRIAN…

Wil and Lone Wolf finally located the last Lorestone in a tomb on the deserted planar universe of the Dazrian. Lone Wolf pocketed the ancient stone, and the two prepared to return home…until they heard something crashing towards them through the nearby forest. A gargantuan figure emerged, its body covered in massive sores and unspeakable liquids, its face shaped like a pig’s snout, its feet like that of some twisted demonic beast. It roared in a mixture of laughter and hatred at the sight of the Kai Grand Master Supreme.

“Ah, Lone Wolf! You have returned after these countless millenia! I have waited far too long for my…revenge!”

Lone Wolf could only mutter a single name. “Chaos-master.”

The Final Saga part 104: March of the Valkyries
By d_Galloway

Chaos-master let out another roar, mixed with what sounded like a mocking laugh. “Who is your little friend this time, Kai Lord? Another wizard like your last companion?”

Wil looked at Lone Wolf. “What’s he talking about?”

Lone Wolf did not look at his companion as he answered. “He means Banedon, my most trusted friend. He…” Lone Wolf’s face became flushed with anger. “Alright, Chaos-master, let us finish this!”

Loki and Val sat in a rear maintenance deck of the airship, a map of RPGC laid out in front of them. Several areas were marked off with red flags, including Merlin’s castle, the Task Force HQ, the RPGC Police Station, Shaheen Jim’s old castle, the shrines, and the whole of southern Quebec. “This will be the easiest conquest I’ve ever been involved in,” laughed the giant. “Soon, with all of RPGC under my control, I can march against Naar himself! Not even Odin can stop me.”

“We beg to differ.”

Loki turned just in time to duck under a large arrow, which embedded itself into the side of the deck before fading from view. Lenneth was standing before him, accompanied by a quartet of other valkyries, all armed with various pointy and sharp weapons. Lenneth quickly discarded the bow and switched to a sword, which she leveled at the statue-like Loki. “Ah, Lenneth. How I have missed your beauty.”

“You have escaped justice too long,” said Lenneth. She looked at Esker, who was still sitting motionless. “Robyn, what has this…beast done to you?”

“Nothing,” said Loki. “She was a gift, a reward for-”

Lenneth gripped the giant by the throat and threw him effortlessly to the ground. She quickly slammed her left foot onto his body, raising the sword over his heart. “Still have a love for the theatrical, bitch?” he spat.

“Die, you-”

Suddenly, the doorway opened, and GG Crono stepped through. “Loki, we’re calling a meeting and-” He finally saw the distracted valkyries. “HOLY MOTHER OF-”

Quickly seizing his chance, Loki grabbed Lenneth’s foot and threw her aside. One of the other valkyries charged forward with a large axe, but was quickly pushed down with a swift kick to the gut. Punching and stricking his way out of the herd, Loki raced to GG Crono, who was rushing into the fray. Before the amnesiac swordsman could even begin to fight, Loki grabbed him by the shoulder and pulled him back out of the room, dodging another seires of arrows courtesy of Lenneth.

“By Odin!” cursed Lenneth. Then she saw the still motionless Val. “Then again…this could work to our advantage.”

Loki and GG Crono steamrolled into the main chamber, where the rest of the Task Force, Wil 2, Gemini, F. Galloway, Yar Kramer, Crotanks, Yellow Tiger, Sir Percival, and a bandaged Galloway were waiting. “What the hell’s going on?” shouted Heaven’s Soldier.

“Valkyries!” shouted GG Crono. “Valkyries in the hold!”

“Val’s in trouble?” asked Kramer.

“No, not that Valkyrie, the OTHER valkyries!” said Loki. “They’re out to kill me!”

“Since the norse gods suddenly hate us, I guess it’s safe to assume they’re after us, too,” said Darkness Beckons.

Suddenly, Lenneth and her posse walked non-chalantly into the chamber, accompanied by Valkyrie Esker. Everyone quickly jumped into combat positions, and Lenneth’s valkyries did the same. “Hold, mortals!” shouted Lenneth. “Surrender Loki and Galloway, and no more harm shall come to you!”

“What about Val?” asked Crotanks.

“We were sent to bring her back,” said Lenneth. “Loki’s hold over her was easy to break; she now serves Odin again.”

F. Galloway took a few steps forward, poiting her finger at Lenneth. “Look, you twisted bitch, she’s-”

Within half a second, Lenneth raised her bow and fired an arrow, stricking F. Galloway straight in the leg. She fell forward in pain, with everyone quickly preparing for a massive, ungodly battle against gods. “So…you seek death, then,” said Lenneth. “Very well. Sisters, leave none alive!”

The two sides immediately threw themselves at each other, six valkyries against fourteen RPGCers…

“Ah, one of the major battles has begun,” said the old man. “I promise you, soon, you will be allowed to return.” Weiila and Nel both groaned at the news, praying that everything would turn out all right.

The battle was hopelessly one-sided from the beginning. The valkyries were gods, trained in styles of combat that were long-since lost to the rest of existence. They had thousands of years to train themselves, both physically and mentally, until they were nigh-indestructable. They were also gods, and therefore had a limited immortality. The RPGCers, on the other hand…were a bunch of freaks. But that’s a story for another day.

Crotanks was quickly cornered by a black-armored Valkyrie with a two-handed axe. Pushed forward by the sheer mass of battle, he was unable to pull himself out of her reach, instead forced to try to dodge while desperately searching for a means of getting past her guard. Finally, he saw a brief opened, grabbed a conveniently-placed piece of sharpened pipe, and rammed it into the valkyrie’s chest. Fortunately, he managed to strike with enough force to work past the armor and hit some insides; unfortunately, it was like a flesh wound to the valkyrie, and he was quickly retreating.

Suddenly, Kramer was sent flying from a strike by a green-armored valkyrie, landing right on top of the black-armored valkyrie. He was quickly thrown off, but not before Percival could see his badly wounded ally and charged forward, quickly pulling the demigoddess’ attention off of Crotanks long enough for F. Galloway, her leg covered in a split and bandages, to get to him with a first aid kit. Meanwhile, Kramer recovered from being tossed and charged forward, striking the black-armored valkyrie with a roundhouse to the back of the head just as Percival parried a powerful attack.

Meanwhile, Heaven’s Soldier and Darkness Beckons pushed themselves against the green-armored valkyrie, who effortlessly forced them back with a halberd. The weapon’s reach, accompanied by her skill and speed, gave her a great advantage over the comparatively slower Task Forcers and their shorter weapons. Just as it seemed everything was to end in a stalemate, Mabatsekker managed to reach his companions, grabbing the valkyrie from behind and pulling her down. Without a moment’s hesitation, he reached into his heart and used a technique Val had once taught him…

He pulled the valkyrie’s mouth open, and thinking about the Rosie O’ Donnell naked, vomited in the valkyrie’s mouth. Horrified and sickened by what had happened, the green-armored valkyrie staggered to her feet, grabbing Mabat by the throat on her way; however, this meant she only had one arm for her weapon, and although skilled, she was easily outflanked by Heaven’s Soldier and Darkness Beckons.

Meanwhile, kiro raised her bazooka, and aimed at a white-armored valkyrie, but was unable to get a clear shot with the sheer mass of movement. Fortunately, Yellow Tiger rushed forward and leaped on the Valkyrie, an energy blade emerging from a hidden section of her left arm. Before she could stike, the valkyrie forced her off, raised a war hammer, and slammed the ground hard, shaking the entire bunker in her rage. However, this movement gave kiro the moment she needed, and she fired a rocket right at the valkyrie. The explosion sent the valkyrie flying right into Yellow Tiger, who smacked her in mid-air with a right hook.

Meanwhile, a red-armored valkyrie engaged Gemini and Wil 2. The former, using the stronger staff, was able to block most of the valkyrie’s attacks, somehow managing to anticipate where her two-handed sword was going to strike next. Wil 2, meanwhile, fired every spell he knew that wouldn’t kill everyone in the room, but the valkyrie was not affected. Finally, the valkyrie managed to break Gemini’s guard, gashing a major wound in the mage’s arm. At that very moment, however, Wil 2 unleashed a series of lightning blasts at the valkyrie’s hands, shocking her into dropping the sword. Taking the chance, both struck her with their staves at once, aiming right for the throat.

Finally, Loki and Lenneth pulled themselves away from the crowd, the former smashing the latter through the wall into the kitchen. Buried under destroyed cereal boxes and smashed cans of pasta sauce, Lenneth threw herself at Loki, taking the deceiving god completely by surprise with her ferociousness. Still, he managed to push her aside, only to get a can of sauce right in his eyes. As he groaned in pain, Lenneth shoved her sword at him…but caught only the wall, as the god twisted to the side completely by accident.

MEANWHILE, AT THE BEGINNING OF THE BATTLE…

Val was immediately sent flying through the roof landing with a thud on the hilltop. Galloway immediately teleported up there, GG Crono latched onto him. “Val, snap out of it!” shouted GG Crono. “Don’t make us kill you…again!”

Val’s face suddenly did something it hadn’t done in weeks; it changed positions. “What are you blabbering about, GC?” GG grumbled at the mention of the letters.

“Val…you can talk!” said Galloway.

“Of course, dipshit!” said Val. “Lenneth gave me back everything! That was one of the reasons she was here!”

“Then let’s get down there and stop this!” shouted GG Crono. “Someone’s liable to get killed!”

“Definately acceptable losses,” growled Val. She raised Gungnir, for the first time in a while doing it of her own free will. “Come on, we haven’t got all day!”

“Agreed.”

A shot rang out, hitting Val in the back of the shoulder. Glenton emerged from his hiding place, his sniper rifle still raised. “Hello, Bitchker. Glad to see you’re back.”

“Well, THIS just keeps getting better!” snarled Val. “Everyone, just give up and die like men, all right? We all have more important things to attend to!”

Glenton prepared to fire again, but Galloway blasted the weapon out of his hand with an energy beam. GG Crono ran towards Val, who quickly blocked his clumsy strike and swung the spear’s handle against his chest, knockin the wind out of the superhero. The thief, meanwhile, raised the Dragon’s Tooth sword and flipped over Val’s head, trying to strike from above; instead, she blocked the attack, tripped Glenton as he landed, and prepared to throw her spear straight through his gut.

Galloway raised the Sommerswerd and charged forward, tearing open a massive wound in Val’s left arm. Rather than scream or cringe in pain, she turned on her heels and lunged at Galloway with unnerving speed, which the kai lord just barely managed to dodge. Her last attack, however, tore into his side, opening one of the wounds he had received during his battle with Nyarl and causing a wave of pain to wash over him. GG Crono and Glenton tried to climb to their feet, but were still unable to move.

“You’re still weak,” said Val. “Even Glenton could take a beating like that!”

Galloway blocked her next attack. “Val, the norse gods are EVIL! God damn it, Thor killed two kids for no damn reason!”

“He kills LOTS of things for no good reason!” said Val. Gungnir struck into Galloway’s right inner thigh. “Odin damn it, he kills trolls every morning because he FEELS like it. What’s two more brats to the pile?”

Galloway pulled himself free from Gungnir, a look of murderous hatred in his eyes. “Uh…Val?” said GG Crono. “I don’t think you should-”

“Let her,” whispered Glenton. “She might just trip herself into her own grave.”

“Oh, is life suddenly valuable to you?” asked Val. “From what I hear, you didn’t shed a damn tear for me; you just jumped in your little helicopter and flew off to avenge me! What about all those people you killed with the Task Force? Your bother’s girlfriend? Adrianne? Over a hundred small-time crooks? And now two kids dying sets you off?”

“VAL, IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS GOOD, DON’T!” shouted Crono.

It was too late, however; Galloway was irrevocably pissed…

Things were beginning to calm down. All the valkyries were down, save for Lenneth, who was still locked in battle with Loki. No one wanted to get too close to the battle, and kiro was out of ammo for her bazooka. Yellow Tiger, meanwhile, was kneeling over her valkyrie, energy blade raised, emitting a few muffled sobs every few seconds.

Finally, Loki was pushed to the ground again, his body covered in a mixture of Lenneth’s blood and his own. Lenneth raised his sword to finish it all…just as Val’s body was sent flying back through the hole created earlier, knocking the valkyrie to the ground. Galloway teleported back into the bunker, his entire body awashed in blood. Lenneth looked at Val’s body, and saw Esker had been practically gutted, and yet was still alive somehow.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Lenneth raised her hands over Val, calling upon her faith to Odin in hopes of saving her sister’s life. Within a few minutes, Val was almost completely healed, now at least LOOKING like she should be alive.

GG Crono and Glenton pushed themselves down the hole, just as the other valkyries began to rise, walking over to assist Lenneth. None of the RPGCers stopped them; they knew that the valkyries were defeated. Lenneth turned to Galloway. “What madness is this? She is your wife.”

“Not anymore,” said Galloway.

“She was particularly venemous,” said GG Crono. “She…hit a few raw nerves.”

Val climbed to her feet, leaning against Lenneth as she did so. “Thank you, sister. Let’s go-”

“Why not tell her the truth?” said Loki.

Lenneth looked at the former god, her eyes filled with hatred. “Why should I take your advice? You enslaved her!”

“What…truth?” asked Kramer.

“Yeah…WHAT truth?” asked Val. Her expression had changed from gratitude to morbid curiosity.

Finally cornered, Lenneth sighed. “Robyn, when we let you leave…it was not because you wanted to. We knew that the Ragnarok was coming, and…we needed someone to serve as bait to bring out those who will cause it. We knew that somehow, this world would be where the evil would be drawn, and willed you to travel here.” Val’s face became flushed with anger. “You…were a needed tool in our plans to save the gods. We assumed that-”

Val pulled away, stumbling against the kitchen counter to maintain her balance. “Lenneth…you lied to me. YOU FUCKING LIED TO ME!”

“Please, sister-”

“Not anymore.”

Lenneth was completely motionless for several minutes, while the rest of the chamber was swept in complete silence. Finally, she hung her head sadly. “Very well, Lenneth. You have consigned yourself to death. Farewell, for now.” All five members of Lenneth’s group vanished, leaving a battered, tired, wounded, beaten, and destroyed bunch of RPGCers to pick up the pieces.

THE END OF PART 104

Next time: The Death and Life of Lone Wolf

Ah, I am glad that this saga is still alive and that things are wrapping up. That last chapter was a good one; good show.

RPGC must be in good shape if we can defeat a band of valkyries.

Ahh, finally caught up! I seem to be getting over this fanficphobia that has haunted me for months… and no, that’s not a joke. Your story is even better than I remember, d; that battle with the Valkyries was excellent, as was your presentation of the (mythological) Thor. (In the Irony Departament: I’m not sure if you know this, but Thor (and the rest of Asgard) is currently dead in Marvel Comics, Ragnarok having finally happened. Except he showed up during Civil War, which got us fans all excited… until it was revealed he was- a clone. Really. ) 0_o

The pathos of Valky’s discovery of her abuse by the Norse gods was well handled too; all in all, the story has everything from good action to good characterization to your brand of silly don’t-forget-this-is-a-Galloway-story humor. Good reading.

Now please solve that whole “Wil2 Destroyer of Worlds” thing, OK? :stuck_out_tongue:
