Thank God I didn't join the Air Force.

The Air Force is closer to the Army than the Navy or Marine Corps. he Air Force completely broke off from the Army as Frame said. The Marine Corps started with the Navy and has kept with it. We are on our own and do our own thing, but we do have close ties with the Navy. However, that does increase our strength a lot.

Fuuny you should mention that being better for the Navy. There was actually talk about how the old green cammies aren’t best for being on ship in the Navy Times. I was actually thinking that blue may be better too. The only reason I could see having cammies that match the ocean be bad would be for rescue services.

There is no reason for the Navy to wear camos unless they are medics that work with the Marines, so most Navy personnel wear the ridiculous sailor suits. Which is part of why I didn’t join… okay… that isn’t the real reason (coughlyingrecruiters) but whatever.

I don’t like the Air Force camos… it doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. I’m agreeing with Info on this one.

Girlfriend, practicality don’t mean a thing, just as long as your lookin good :kissy:

it looks like it’s out of a Street Fighter movie.

Dude, Hades, why the hell would you have blue for sky? It’s not like air force people use parachutes 6 hours a day. Even if it did blend well with the sky, once you hit the ground you’re fucked.

The enw cmmies sure bland better than the old ones with trees and stuff…

Alas I do not.

I believe the camo is designed with urban combat in mind. There are no ground troops in the air force, they’re mostly technical support for the pilots. Since they’re most likely to be in urban settings most their time, as per their job, cammo in general is mostly pointless for them. But just in case! they’re ready to have concealment should they come under attack.

I think the real reason, though, is that the Air Force simply wants to distinguish itself further from the other branches than it already is. The air force has no practical purpose for camo other than aesthetics.

Man Cless, you just made my day :stuck_out_tongue: lol :stuck_out_tongue:

That isn’t completely true. One job that requires camoflague is combat controller. They go in early and clear out areas for planes to land. Also, gray is better in urban environments.

How often does the air force land planes outside of established bases?

Merlin is smart!
Listen to Merlin!

Red… nope. Altough, It would bring a fact about a Certain TV series

You don’t want be a red shirt in Star Trek.

If you made it past the Second Break you’re lucky.

Can’t Join the US Airforce any way, I’ll take the RAF instead.

Vertical Take off/landing usally required (Helicopters and Harrier Jump Jets), if not a good bit of flat solid land.

My Dad Used to Work for BAe Systems, they make (or made) planes.

Infonick could correct me on this one, but I believe the pilots wear flight suits in combat, which are designed differently than the standard uniform. So if they’re shot down they wouldn’t be wearing ze blue.

but yeah, I think Cammy is the only one who currently wears that blue number.

You are correct, and I’ve also already said that a couple times in this thread. Flight suits reduce the g-force on them so that they can do more manuevers.

Thanks for completely missing the point.

Infonick said something about people going in ahead to establish bases, so camoflague would be needed. But I don’t think the air force is in the business of establishing bases in hostile territory. They send in planes from already established bases, so camoflague for non-urban settings is not necessary.

Man, someone just send an e-mail to the president of the air force and ask him. Im sure he’s be happy to respond. (I mean, what else does he have to do?)

You mean general right? I hope you mean general…
