Sucks to be me. ><

Gather 'round children, it’s time for Uncle GG’s storytime.

I’m on the computer at my grandparents’ house to deliver the following:

On friday, our computer locked up a few times. Odd, but no biggie. On saturday, it locked up a few MORE times. On sunday, I couldn’t even get on. Our box was looong overdue for an upgrade, so on monday, we got a new motherboard installed. It fixed the problem.

HOWEVER…

Due to what we now know is some sort of corrputed file, I have had NO INTERNET ACESS SINCE SUNDAY. ARGH!

It’s true what they say about never truly appreciating something until you have to live without it.

Long story short, we have to format the whole hard drive. I should have my regular internet acess back this sunday.

I hope I didn’t miss anything TOO interesting here while I was gone. :hahaha;

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a LOT opf webcomics to catch up on…

(And BTW, I’ll be posting pics of my halloween costume in the pic posting thread shortly.)

That’s got to suck, having to reformat the entire hard drive. Hope to see you back on Sunday, GG.

i’m gonna reformat it too so i’ll be gone till sunday or so

My computer crashed last week and I’m only now getting around to getting it fixed.

… You take 3 days to reformat & reinstall something? Slowpoke. =P

Anyhow; Best of luck to ya.

OK… (cracks knuckles) try 5 weeks without it, then you only have it back for a fortnight before it goes again, tyhis time for 7 weeks, then you only have it back for a week before it goes out for two whole months. THAT sucks.

…but I do feel for you, man… :too bad;

Oh, no. A friend of ours who knows a LOT more about computers than we do is gonna do it on sunday, to make sure it gets done right. In the meantime, we’re backing up everything of importance.

And thanks. :cool:

Damn thats always bad. My computer breaks a lot.

You’re saying this about the internet? Geez! Normally that statement is reserved for something important, like friends, or a home, or oxygen. To lament the loss of a computer such is a bit melodramatic.

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> Not really. Computers and the internet can be quite an important part of someone’s life, depending on the person. And if it’s important to that person, why can’t it be just as important as, say, someone’s normal social contacts? Because you don’t see people in real life? That’s just stupid.

You have a point that I did not consider.

You should get used to formatting and reinstalling. My system is built so I can format and reinstall in less than an hour with no loss of files.
A format does your system more good than it does bad.

Best of luck.

The 'net IS an important part of my life…I don’t get out a lot, and I only have one close friend IRL who lives walking distance from my house. Until I get a car, this is the closest thing to a social life I can hope to have. The computer is my lifeline.

The internet is a drug, and I am a junkie. :hahaha;

Now THAT is high on the list of things not to say in front of Max Force. (Fans of Captain SNES will laugh.)

Best of luck with the computer business. Hope it’ll stop screwing up after that

Well, everything’s working now, AND we upgraded to Windows XP.

So now being me sucks just a little less.

You mean downgraded.

Oh wait, you said XP, not ME. My bad.

We HAD ME.

And honestly, I liked it a little better…XP has too many bells and whistles.

But meh, it was a nessicity. I can live with it.

XP Home, Office, or Pro, because if it’s the two former, I will eat your skin while you sleep!

P.S. Formatting should be a last resort. Normally, just installing windows on top of windows is good enough. Did you partition your drive so that you’ve got 2 gigs set off for windows and the rest for everything else?

It happened to me exactly one week after I got my new comp. It was software problem with me, though. MS really knows how to do unstable stuff.
