Still on gay marriage

For those who don’t want to read the whole article, here is a brief: The supreme judicial court of Massachusetts told lawmakers to allow full-fledged marriage for same-sex couples.

I think were really beating a dead horse with this topic…

This is just to give an update on how things are going.

What is your obssesion with gay marriage?

It’s simple. I’m a man and Ren wants to marry me and this is he subtle way of hinting of the torch he’s carrying for me.

The first part’s not true.

Sometimes you scare me with your ideas O.O

Now come to Masachusetts, I’m waiting for you :get it?:

For some reason, this reminds me of a political cartoon I saw once. It shows a gay man and a lesbian watching TV, and the announcer is saying that marriage between gay men and lesbian women is illegal, and the guy says, “Curses! Our attempts to make a mockery of the system have been foiled!”

I’m sorry Ren but I’m not going to Masachusetts or anywhere near your staff, ho hum.

ph33r massachusetts. I actually thought it’s been legal for some months now. I guess i was wrong.

the court there gave the legislature some time to act on its ruling, what just came out yesterday was a clarification of sorts saying that civil unions were not acceptable and that homosexuals there must have absolute equality to breeders.

From what I’ve gathered, gay civil union has been legal. The SSC’s ruling was that gay marriage ought to be legal as well. There’s a bill that will go up for vote in a bit that, if put into effect, will effectively ban gay marriage in Massachusetts.

Not all religions bar gay marriage. Wiccan handfastings and liberal Christian marriages, for example, can be homosexual. =p

For some reason, the government, while considering Wicca a valid religion, does not consider a Wiccan handfasting legally binding. Freedom of religion in the US? Psh.

I remember something my Government teacher said about the judicial branch on thursday. It was something to the effect of them “becoming more of a legislature than a judiciary branch.” somethin’ like that.

Yeah i know, the government recognizes it, but most of the public have no idea what Wiccan really is, and it’s heavily looked down upon. I don’t follow nor idea with most of what Wicca has to offer, but I have looked at this religion far more than most people would have, and it’s a shame just some of the things this minor population has to go through. It’s embarrassing, really.

As far as BOOKS (which are much better than any website =p) are concerned I suggest Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham and Witchcraft Today by Gerald Gardner (its VERY dated, but it shows you what Wicca was like when it started out). If you read stuff by Silver Ravenwolf, take what you read with a grain of salt. She hates Christians and doesn’t hide it very well. Not only that, her primary motivation is money rather than actual sharing of knowledge, so I would not trust a single word in her books, myself. =p

the judiciary branch isn’t a legislature, it interprets the law. in this case they interpreted the supreme law of Massachusetts that says that everyone has equal protection under the law. If the people dont like gay marriages, thats something to take up with the writers of their state constitution.
