If anyone remembers the infamous Stella Liebeck case, in which she spilled hot McDonald’s coffee on herself, and then sued the company for $2.9 million, the site exists to bring similar cases to light for us to laugh at.
Too bad the case in question actually resulted in 3rd degree burns and required skin grafting.
Shit, if lawyers can convince juries to act like this, I ought to look forward to law school.
What’s really too bad is that coffee is always brewed at about 180 degrees, Stella Liebeck pulled off the top while the cup was insecure in her lap, and she proceeded to sit in this coffee for about ninety seconds. There would have been no burns if she had a) not opened the cup in her lap or b) been savvy enough to move after, say, five seconds of burning.
lol i was talking about the old lady with the mcdonalds coffee at work with one of my coworkers the other day and we had quite a good laugh about it. that one and the one about some woman suing mcdonalds for making her kid fat
Shit, maybe if we didn’t prejudge so much…
Regarding the Stella case, that particular McDonald’s had been warned previously on multiple occasions that their coffee was too hot (they flash-boiled it, I believe), yet did nothing about it. The decision to make the amount $2.9 million was chosen on account of that being how much money McDonald’s makes from ONE day’s sale of coffee.

Oh, damn, it’s too bad that everyone is coerced through force into buying McDonalds coffee.
that is fkn rediculous. so how much do they make a day total?
