State pledge

In your school do/did you have to say your state pledge in the mornings?

For some reason or another, that’s become apart of the morning routine over in my school, so just curious if others had to also.

Never heard of it.

there was a pledge at my HS. I rarely if ever stood up for it.

Yes we say it every single morning.

We usually do a prayer at the beginning of class. I don’t stand up if they ask us to. In middle school, we did the Pledge of Allegiance, which I rarely stood up for.

State Pledge? We said the Pledge of Allegience in high school (well, a couple people did while it was being said on the anouncements each morning).

Its optional.

Didn’t someone (Sorc?) make a thread on school pledges a while back that erupted into an apocalyptic religious discussion?

No, but I don’t live in the US.

Yeah, I remember that. That was pretty funny.

My issue was on the pledge to the american flag. A teacher thought that, according to county regulations, I had to stand for it. I happened to know otherwise, said so, she got mad, she got proved wrong, she told all her little friends what a horrible person I am and she got laughed at. Pretty funny, but that’s really all that happened. As far as the thread goes, I don’t remember whether or not it turned into a religious discussion, I can imagine it did - it happened right in the middle of the whole “under god” thing.

we don’t have to… but If I had to I wouldn’t…
especially not a state pledge… if it was our national anthem. I would cuz ours just rocks

Whats a state pledge?

A state pledge is basically just the pledge of allegiance to your state instead of to the country. I guess. I really only know of Texas having one. Haven’t checked on anywhere else.

we do sometimes, but i feel so gay saying it ,so i dont

I can. But don’t. According to my teacher, no one has to really stand up for it, or pray for the safety of America/Zone Eater.

Since I have always lived in Canada, we never had to say any sort of pledge, thankfully.
