Uh, Gil, I’m pretty sure that’s just from a fan translation.

Really? My bad then…

looks interesting. I might have to go look for it sometime.

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> Of course, not a WORD on potential EU releases…

The King of Moonbrooke’s death in DW2.

Watching the great Ortega die in DW3.

Um, it’s rather unnecessary to put events from the opening sequence in spoiler tags. I’ve only played NES DW games, but they’re all good, except that in 4 you can’t control party members during ch 5.

I know that Ortega doesn’t actually die there, but since it looks like that, you still probably don’t need a spoiler. Meh, whatever.

I have FF:A, but it’s being lent out and I haven’t seen it yet. I havne’t even got to play it too. I thought I’d have a PSX by now.

I liked Vagrant Story. I still own it. I just never got that far in it. The weapon crafting system was the coolest thing about the game though. So I’d say pick it up.

I’ve had WAY too many opprotunitys to buy VS…and passed them off just as many times…

I feel dumb now. SOMEBODY PUNCH ME IN THE FACE!!!

I’ll do better than punch you! [turns Kagato Toujou into another Smith]

FFC…now I’ll FINALLY get my second chance to get my grubby little paws on it

Play it all the way through, then play the New Game Plus. Repeat until bored. I’ve completed it about 6 times, and I’m still not.

And to add to the replay, go for the “Titles”, which are given out for performing extraordinary feats; such as completing the game without saving, completing the game without magic, completing the game without chaining an attack, chaining 30 attacks together, killing 5000 of each enemy species, etc. There’s just so much to do. 8)

I can’t find the link anymore sadly Vicki. Sorry.

/me sniffles. =(

I’ve wanted to try Vagrant Story, but I didn’t want to hunt around for it and pay a bundle. This is a good thing!

If FFA will be cheaper, I’ll get it too. I’ve only seen it costing around $50 US, and there’s no way I’d pay that much for two games, one of which is FFV. (just my opinion, that’s all, let’s move on)

I’d be even more excited if there was some DW4 heading this way, but I’ll have to keep crying myself to sleep at night over it. Kagon, could you elaborate on the battle system you referred to or give me some link that explains it?

I got VS for less than 20 with shipping on ebay. I see it at EB all the time for comparable prices. I don’t get why you’ve had issues.

It’s probably because I’m beyond picky about the games I get (I like at least like new with all packaging and manuals intact), and that sort of thing tends to end up costing more. I also haven’t found it in the stores around here.

Either way, I can handle a rerelease for $20. That makes me =).

Yupyups!! Me no like buyin’ rereleases either~ There’re just too much RPGs (or other genre games) to play with, I can’t find the time to replay some of the old ones even if I wanted to… Actually I can but… Just don’t have the incentives to replay the older games that I’ve beat.

i.e. FF3, Earthbound, Lufia, etc…

Heh, got xenogears last christmas, and beat it an hour ago (literally, i just beat it).

Now, i get my chance to see vagrant story, oh why did i not buy it back then?

Because I can’t see any of your posts without hearing your IRL voice, IonMage! That’s why! Also, because the Humor demands it!

Vagrant Story is a really, really good game  I only had the patience to play through it once, but I really would have liked to go through it couple more times.

There’s not much bad to say about the game…The fighting engine is awesome, and pretty challenging. The music is great (Done by Hitoshi Sakimoto, who did Ogre Battle series, and FFTactics)…The story was perfect, just how I like storylines; short, original, deep, and, well, not corny or ridiculous (This is where deeper games like Wild ARMS 2 fail in my eyes. If the story superficially is dumb to me, I don’t care to analyze it any). The 3D graphics were pretty damn high quality for PSX, though there weren’t really any CG flicks in it (That I can remember anyways).

And uh, by the way! :stuck_out_tongue: If you do end up enjoying Vagrant Story, I would reccomend trying Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter on PS2. The only really huge differences are that the combat engine is turn based (It still works virtually the same), and the main story dungeons are much more diffucult (Though VS’s side dungeons definitely rival DQ in diffuculty). Same general interface otherwise, even the composer is the same, which makes it eerily reminiscent of Vagrant Story :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyways, if you try VS, do enjoy, it’s really nice

Don’t make me go off on a DQ rant here…

Anyway, I’m happy they’re releasing those, but what about the Enix side of Square Enix? Where’s our GH prints of Dragon Warrior VII, Valkyrie Profile, or Star Ocean 2 (technically published by SCEA in america, but whatever)?

As for the PS remakes, DQ4 is complete, but they aren’t allowed to ever use the source code for it again (including in a translation), because the developer of the code went kaput, and the company that obtained the rights to them wants a big chunk of Square Enix just to loan them out. DQ5 is still being remade, and it’s being remade on PS2 using a modified DQ8 engine. A remake of 6 hasn’t been announced yet, but here’s hoping. Hopefully, Square Enix continues Enix America’s tradition of bringing games over here that ingrateful FF7 fans (read: whoever was bashing DW for no reason whatsoever earlier) will never appreciate.
