Spider-Man is... HINDU!?

Well, at least THIS one is!

So, what do you think of the idea of different cultures having their own versions of American heroes? Personally, I prefer for them to come up with their own heroes -and they HAVE- but I see these things as loving homages. Besides, I’m sure the idea will get the company publicity, which can only help them when they come up with their own comics.

Try making taxi-driver jokes about THIS hindu! POW!! :hahaha;

I’d like to get my hands on one of those, thats pretty interesting.

I definitly have to see how this goes, the adaption to india does have a lot of potencial.

Thats pretty neat.

Its interesting to see stories from one culture adpted into another. I saw the japanese verison of Macbeth on TV a while ago (samurai instead of scottish lords ect ect) and it was cool to see the changes the cultures made in the play (such as in the end, it was MacDuff’s army that slay’s Macbeth with arrows, and there is no epic ending swordfight between MacDuff and Macbeth).

Its a longshot to compare Shakepear to comics, but thats what came to my mind.

HAahahaha! awsome! thats a sweet costume he’s got on there

WM, could you do me a favor? read your sig carefully ten times. and tell me its not lame

Interesting costume. The comic would be something to check out one day.

Unique costume, very interesting indeed.

Wow, that looks so awesome!

It’s kinda like fan fiction. Someone else fucking around with someone elses ideas. While I don’t really contest the idea of a hindu spiderman, I’d really rather them come up with their own characters.

I like the way the green goblin will look.

Cool costume,and very interesting too.

Amusing

Reminds me of the “The life and death of spiders” story line.

If anyone remembers a certain villainess called Shathra, she was a ‘mythological’ equivalent/avatar of a Spider-Eating Wasp.

Now, the whole storyline based around her was pretty much filled with mysticism and mythology, i.e; Peter being today’s ‘Spider Avatar’, while Shathra was the Spider-Eater one.

Now, kick this into hiduism and we have this. Doink.

The japanese had their own version of Spiderman which is a lot more bizarre than this. He was a normal person and was given a magical bracelet from the last surviving member of planet spider. The bracelet gave him the powers of a spider. It contained his costume until needed, and was also capable of dispensing webbing. This is when it gets weird though: it can call an alien space ship, the Marveller, to him. When the Marveller is linked to a flying race car he has for some reason it transforms into a giant robot. Some of the powers he got didn’t make much sense, but he just spent most of his time beating up villains Kamen Rider style anyways.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I almost forgot the best part. His arch nemesis’ name was Professor Monster.

Well, the Spider-Hindu artwork looks cool, let’s see if they can recreate Spidey’s story into something interesting. Is there a release date or something?
I read a Spider-man manga, but only for a few chapters (it was kinda boring). I can only remember that his first rival was Electro and he looked and acted in a completely different way than the original.
