Spam with literary pretensions

Now normal crappy spam is trying to move upmarket. I get a dating thing shoved into my inbox telling me I have been invited to a blind date with Some Girl, but at the bottom, below that, it has, for some reason, this:

Are they trying to write original fiction and thus get us that way? FortheloveofGod why? Idiots.

Dude, why would you even be interested in reading a potential blind date from a girl off the net?

I don’t exactly know what to say…I suspect they thought if you actually believed all that stuff about a blind date and were willing to go on it, that kind of stuff would captivate you.

Perhaps it’s some code for stupid people…

It’s a virus. Reformat.

Like I said before, a flock of geese that spends its time not far from my house controlled the world for a short amount of time. I can see that the spam has something about birds in it, so if you know how, maybe you can ask them if they know anything about it.

By the way, Eva, what is that thing in your avatar?

:open_mouth: Blasphemer! Thou doest not knoweth the greatness that is No Face?!

Actually he’s/it’s a character from Spirited Away (anime). Isn’t he precious? I don’t see why people react the way they do to this picture, my boyfriend said it was fucking ugly and weird. Poor No Face. You should hear him try to talk, it’s so- gets shot

Seriously?

Depends, how big was the e-mail?

Number One rule in E-mail club, dont open Spam. IT could be a virus.

Number two rule in E-mail club, dont talk about E-mail club.

Number three rule in E-mail club, Get me a cookie!

Half serious about virus since it could be, not serious about reformatting.

I hate reformatting.
I’ve had to reformate 3 times this month!

And if it isn’t, it’s almost certainly a trap that sends the spammer a notice confirming that your address is in use, encouraging him to sell it to anyone he can find.

Exactly.
So remember kids, dont open spam mail.
And dressing up as Hitler for school, isn’t cool.

One, I opened it because I couldn’t be sure just be looking at the subject and ‘from’ who it was, and two, no virus.

Can viruses be caught merely by looking at them? I thought you would have at least had to download some program first. Anyway, I refuse to reformat after doing it last month. It sucked. OUr PC is not reformat-friendly.

Nah, all you need to do is run a virus scan. Which is hopefully enough.

It’s a good thing we have spam, it provides us with something to laugh at. And something to do while at work: Delete spam.

It also makes us feel good, because, thanks to spam, we realize that our English isn’t that bad after all.

Yahoo can do that.

Ok, that point of view is definately not good, but extremely close to evil.

(edit: grammar)

Yeah, I’m pretty sure just opening an email can’t send a virus. If you don’t know who an email’s from and it has attachments, don’t open the attachments, that can trigger the virus. But just looking at an email I don’t believe can do anything. Then again, I could be wrong. But anyway, deleting without opening is probably a good idea, in case receipts are sent back to the spammer confirming your email address didn’t bounce.

Because I am evil.
