You guys remember that big thing I did on World of Warcraft, and how I said I liked it alot? And then I described some of the cool things in it and you all said I was just being a Blizzard fanboy?
How come its BAD or considered “Fanboyism” to rave about a well made game created by a company who brought us many enjoyable games in the past? How many of you who claimed I was a fanboy have played Warcraft 3 and experienced the great story within? HOW many of you, have raved about goddamn final fantasy 7 and now stand here with the gaw to say that I’m a FANBOY because I like a wellmade game and wanted to share it with the rest of you?
I never read said thread, but someone somewhere said something about you not saying anything about why you liked game other than it was Blizzard, and I guess that would be a silly reason to like a game, especially if you haven’t played it yet. It’s kinda like, saying you like some sports player a whole lot, just because he plays for your favorite team. Even though all he does is warm the bench. Which I guess was the impression someone got or something. I dunno. I just felt like posting something for no reason since nobody reads these things anyway.
Because it’s fanboyism, that’s what it is. No one is saying they’ve never done it. But, it is what it is. Don’t get so pissed off about it, jesus fucking christ.
Edit: And yeah, for the record, I never even saw that thread you’re talking about. I’m basing this response solely off of this thread alone. What you’ve described to me fits what I’ve been led to believe is fanboyism even since I learned what one is. We’ve all been there, what’s there to be so damn angry about?
It’s not bad. It’s bad when you try to convince others a game is good and your only arguement is “DURR ITS BLIZZARD” I also did NEITHER of the examples you listed, so HAH.
If I said anything in the style of one of those lamer "OMFG BLIZZARD ROXXORZ MY BOXxoRZ LOL!!!1111!1!
Then I think you misread somthing.
The only time I said somthing remotely like that was when I said that Blizzard didnt make bad games. Which can be proven in the fact that they ALL sold damn well, but we’ll not get into that. Point is, if a game has thousands of “fanboys” theres a good chance that it is FOR A REASON. When I DID try to say anything about the game, all I got in return was shit like:
OMG, theres nothing new here, other than teh blizzard logo! STFU!
Which says to me that you arent reading what I am saying.
BLIZZARD = Improving on what needed to be improved and turning old ideas into GOOD games.
If that isnt somthing that the MMORPG playing field has needed for quite some time then I dont know what is.
That kinda went in circles for 5-6 more posts. After playing it I still say the only thing it has that makes it stand out in the crowd of way too similiar games is the Blizzard logo. It didn’t turn an old idea into a good game, seeing as how said ideas already were worked out, and better, in OTHER games. This just adds the Warcraft universe, which it is way too reliant and not explaining enough on, and I’m not gonna repeat my rant in a second thread
The number of copies sold and number of fans of the company/series is not an accurate indicator of a game’s quality. Star Wars Episode I, two Austin Powers movies, and Big Daddy are in the top 100 highest grossing films ever. Yeah, not exactly American cinema at its finest, much less a good use for $6.50. And personally, I didn’t like D2 much since you realize it’s a grind REALLY quickly, and WC3 was meh to meh from what I’ve played.
You posted a few threads about the same game. This would be tolerable if they actually had some content and things to back them up since I can see pictures of riding griffins on lots of game sites. Talking about WHAT is good is meaningless if you can’t say WHY it’s good.
There’s a difference between fanboys and people who like things, too. If I were an FF7 fanboy (and I’m not, I can’t stand the game), you’d see such pointless threads as: Sephiroth rox cuz he has a big sword, Omnislash r teh uberz, and Tifa has big boobs lozl.
Maybe not quite that dumb, but there’s no need for multiple threads and raving about Blizzard’s greatness in each one.
Because Fanboys usually smell bad… or put things before there hygine moreso… I woulden’t use the word to lightly. Kind of like an Otaku, same thing. :fungah:
You seriously sound like an over-zealious christian about the whole thing.
Yes, you are absolutely right Izlude. Blizzard is perfect in EVERY SINGLE WAY. None of their games have ONE SINGLE FLAW WHATSOEVER. So I guess the fact that some people maybe don’t like Diablo 2 or aren’t interested in World of Warcraft are simply heretics to gaming and should be comdemned to the Pit of Despair. Thank you Izlude, you complete me. I think we need to hug.
[/sarcasm]
Now seriously, I don’t listen to anything you say anymore because it took you several posts in your WoW thread to actually explain why you liked the game. For the majority you just ran around yelling “TWO FOUR SIX EIGHT BLIZZARD IS GOD AND FUCK YOU ALL WHO DON’T LIKE BLIZZARD OR WORLD OF WARCRAFT YOU ALL SUCK AT LIFE!” You act like anyone who isn’t interested in WoW sucks at life. Really, WC3’s story isn’t a work of art. The fact that Arthas was undead was obviously taken from Starcraft. Maybe, just maybe, people are interested in DIFFERENT TYPES OF GAMES.
Oh, and by the way, me and the majority of other people here have never ranted about FFVII because most of us have played a lot of the earlier FF games. Don’t make random accusations about people you don’t know about.
Er… He knows Blizzard isn’t perfect, guys. He really likes the game, so what? You don’t have to hound on him for it. No one hounded on Igatona because he disliked KOTOR. I’ve been looking into this game and honestly, I think it looks pretty awesome. One of the TOP reasons I like it so much, is BECAUSE IT IS WARCRAFT. I really really really enjoyed the WarCraft series, the races, characters, the story (Yes, story >O), and just the feel of the games. I’m not saying WoW is going to be the best MMORPG blahblahblah, but I know that if I like it, and I’m having a wonderful time playing it, I’m not going to let some people that didn’t have fun with it stop me from doing so.
Except Ig didn’t make multiple threads and multiple paragraph posts about how much he hated KOTOR. If you notice, I only hound on him when he complains about it, which he shouldn’t even be doing. It’s called PMs.
