Shovanistic vs. Personal Preference

Not-so-attractive girls…

  • Are always the ones who complain about guys being shallow.
  • Are always the ones who call attractive girls “slutty.”
  • Are always the ones who accuse guys of ignoring personality.
  • Don’t realize that by doing these three things, THEIR personality is the lacking one.
  • Are therefore hypocrites.
Actually, I’ve heard this from attractive girls more often than not. Not-so-attractive girls usually realize that complaints like this appear self-patronizing. Attractive girls, on the other hand, can be seen as generous and good-natured for making these sorts of comments, while nevertheless enjoying the benefits of “shallow” guys who “ignore personality”. The girl I disliked most in grade and high school was just like that: she constantly complained about how shallow males were, condescendingly pitiful toward other girls; yet, attractive at a young age, flitted from one “shallow” male to another. By the end of high school, she looked like a middle-age woman, and I felt very little sympathy.

I should say, though, that most attractive girls are nothing like her.

Take a look at these things you said:

“Not-so-attractive girls are always the ones who complain about guys being shallow.”

“Not-so-attractive girls are always the ones who call attractive girls “slutty.””

“Not-so-attractive girls are always the ones who accuse guys of ignoring personality.”

When you say these things, you are saying ‘[y] always does [x].’

y = Not so attractive girls
x = character trait that ‘always exists’

“[Not-so-attractive girls] are always the ones who [complain about guys being shallow.]”

“[Not-so-attractive girls] are always the ones who [call attractive girls “slutty.”]”

“[Not-so-attractive girls] are always the ones who [accuse guys of ignoring personality.]”

The thing is, your other statement, 'The ones who do [x] are always [y]" is the exact same thing, unless you specify that this is by your experience, which you didn’t do at first and this is why you you did recieve a lot of initial flak.

Yeah, Hades, you made a retarded statement - and this happens all the time with you. Why don’t you just get more specific in your posts to avoid this shit?

I never said that you said that ALL attractive girls ALWAYS do that. Go back and read what I said and you’ll see that what I’m arguing about is the way you assign a personality trait to only one group of girls. When you assign, say, bitchiness, to unattractive girls, I never implied that this statement means ALL unattractive girls will ALWAYS be bitchy. What I’m complaining about is the way you say only unattractive girls CAN be bitchy. I’ve been saying this all along. Go back and find anywhere I implied something else. Point it out. Do it. Seriously.

To further explain what I’m complaining about, here is a diagram.

This is what you mean. And I never said you didn’t. Unattractive girls are a subset of girls. Not all girls are unattractive. That’s what that means. Bitchiness is a subset of unattractive girls. Not all unattractive girls are bitchy. That’s what that means. It also means that only unattractive girls can be bitchy. And that’s what I’ve been arguing against you all along. That’s what you said, and I said it’s wrong. I think any female can be bitchy, or not bitchy, and it’s not solely determined by whether or not they are unattractive. Maybe there’s a correlation? Who knows, that isn’t the point.

I think it’s more like this:

Okay that’s a joke. Get over yourself.

ROFL!

SG, here is why you are wrong.

And Zepp, that diagram just restored my faith in you as the awesomest guy, EVER to exist :stuck_out_tongue:

When you assign, say, bitchiness, to unattractive girls, I never implied that this statement means ALL unattractive girls will ALWAYS be bitchy. Okay:

In stating your opinion, you said that certain types of girls are always have a certain type of personality? Nope, I’m not wrong about that.

I reiterate, the problem is that both statements you mentioned “the ones who do [x] are always [y]” is exactly the same as “[y] always does [x].” Maybe it’s because you’re thinkikng of “[y] always does [x]” in a literal sense. Well, I’m not saying it in a literaly sense. I do not think that you are saying that not-so-attractive girls spend all their time complaining and whining and calling out other chicks. I, as well as apprearantly many other people (otherwise this argument would have never happened :P), think that “the ones who do [x] are always [y]” is exactly the same statement as “[y] always does [x].”

The reason is because of the way you worded it. And I’m not talking about the words you did use, I’m talking about words you DIDN’T use. Because you didn’t specify that you were just talking about your own personal experience, it comes off as you saying that Not-So-Attractive Girls ALWAYS do this-or-that. You can just fix this by trying to be a bit more clear next time. This IS a very important thing, because otherwise, it looks like you’re testifying as some sort of expert in the field of ‘what girls do and think and act like’, which neither of us are, so we need to make sure that our statements are clear as to what we’re saying.
