It’s a bit like Pani Poni Dash, but with drastically fewer sight gags (still plenty of chalkboard scribbles), and instead of a 10-year old genius, the teacher is incredibly pessimistic and repeatedly tries to commit suicide. The counterbalance to the teacher (whose name, when written horizontally, transposes to “despair”) the lead female sees hope in everything, like reinterpretting suicide by hanging to trying to make oneself taller.
Oh yeah, and unlike Lucky Star, this one is made by the people who did PPD.
Pani Poni Dash and Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei were done by SHAFT. Haruhi, FMP (Fumoffu and TSR), and Lucky Star were done by Kyoto Animation. Squeenix may very well have sponsored shows by both companies, but probably wasn’t much otherwise involved in their creation.
