I found it at Toys R Us for 10 bucks new. Figured I could do a lot worse. I’m liking it so far. It’s sad I’m an hour into it and already it’s the best RPG Ive played since Vesperia. I like the kingdom hearts style game play and the Sphere Grid-style skill system. The visuals are really nice for a PS2 game from 2 years ago. The story is already promising, and I like the characters I’ve met so far and the writing and VA is great. I think I’m gonna like it. I’ve always been wary of this game cos the Publishers boasted some 100+ hours of actual gameplay. But it seems to be more like 50-80, which is typical.
I’m assuming you are still in the jungle planet. Come back after the next two massive dungeon crawls where nothing fucking happens and say that again. I dare you.
Ah, there’s a game I haven’t played in a while. I felt it was a good game, though it does have its flaws…
And there’s no way the game is 100+ hrs unless you intend to do EVERYTHING, which is pretty unlikely. In that case, it’ll probably be around 50-70 hours. You’re barely scratching the surface of the game at this point, but then it gets hard/cheapish where enemies are just dealing massive damage to you. Just wait until you meet your 1st Mimic…
As far as the dungeons go, just wait until later on. You’ll be wanting them to end.
I remember RG. Like a few people have mentioned, the main problem is the length of the dungeons. The developers like long dungeons, but I remember thinking that they weren’t nearly as bad as Dark Cloud 2, which I believe was made by the same people. Granted, I stopped playing a little after the jungle level so maybe I just didn’t see the worst of it.
I’m on chapter 10 and I’m still into it. I jacked up a lot of levels getting stuck in the two towers in Zerard. I got sick of that. But now the game is cake The rest of the dungeons aren’t that bad. I coudl probably take out all the marks I signed up for if I had the necessary items. I already destroyed which ever one gives you 45000, for what that’s worth.
I’m still loving the story and characters and everthing I mentioned at the start.
I have two complaints: The Mother-Daughter bits are goddamn disgusting to watch, and the item creation factory bullshit is too convoluted to be bothered with. I could be the game at the rate I’m going, so I’m not gonna fuck with anything else. Yeah, this is the best RPG I’ve played since last year when playing vesperia.
I’ve been tempted to go and play this again, but haven’t really gotten around to it…
The whole factory stuff seems kinda complicated at first, but that’s mostly because the game fails at giving a proper tutorial on how everything works. Once you get a good understanding of it, you can make some pretty decent stuff with it (a few weapons, shields, and some other stuff).
Ah yes, RG… that’s a cute game. I have a wretched kind of patience so I didn’t mind the dungeons that much. The battle system is quick and the characters aren’t that annoying… except for when they keep repeating themselves over and over and over again as you run along in the dungeons.
Durrr.
Anyway, thinking back on it, whatever happened to that cat general thing that you helped in the prison? They made him out to be a really important character but then you never saw him again, pretty much.
Yeah, I think they introduced too many pieces into the story and realized they didn’t have the time or patience to sort it all out. Like when you get to Mariglenn, all of a sudden the main point of the whole game is to defeat mother, and Daytron and that whole deal is totally cast aside.
In the end I didnt do any side quests. They say there’s a ton of stuff to do in the game, but none of it rewarded you with anything, so why bother?
