Rightoues smokers! Right...

I never could stand smoking, but I understand that some people do smoke, and need to. So, I just generally stay out of their way.

I don’t mind people who smoke, it’d be lovely if they didn’t do it in crowded areas though.

Since we’re on the subject: For those who don’t know New York state is the most strict in the country (well if not the most it’s gotta be pretty damn close). In Erie county where I live, igarettes are taxed like crazy and smoking is banned in public places. In order for restaurants to have a smoking section they have to make a seperate room with seperate ventilation. Now there’s a bill going around that will stop smoking in bar type restaurants. Personally, I’m all for this, smoking has no positives. Even our Erie County executive Joel Giambra got throat cancer from smoking and he’s making commercials to talk about quitting. I’d like to nuke every single tobacco plants (both the living thing and the factory). The only thing holding me back is the fact that the U.S. economy is too dependent on the taxes from cigarettes. It’s just pathetic if you ask me.

People just need something to hold over/against other people to mark themselves as separate and better.

But most people just don’t like tobacco smoke.

I never liked smoking, nor do I really like those who smoke. Kinda makes me happy that Massachussetts is putting a ban on all smoking in the workplace.

Yes, but part of what we’re talking about is people being an ass of themself. People don’t have to be exposed to second hand smoke if they don’t want to be. Just walk away, or politly ask the smoker to step aside, and he most likely will, and if he doesn’t, and you are truly scared of whatever dangers you feel second hand smoke ensures, then you should back away.

I don’t care about smoking, either. It’s a nasty habit, and it can lead to serious health issues.
However, if people followed Sorc’s method more, we wouldn’t need a public smoking ban. I’m probably one of the few non-smokers concerned about this since, to me, it seeps of government regulation.
Yes, it’ll protect those allergic to cigarette smoke, and save hundreds of lives from second hand smoke in resturants. But a lot of smokers aren’t strong enough to hold back their addiction, and a lot of nicotine withdrawal symptoms can be very serious, depending on how addicted they are on the stuff.
Edit: Well, that’s my rant. Ontopic, that was one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard ( eh, about the smoker, not you Info ^^;;). Well, besides what I say.
Anyway, gotta go before my older brother gets home from finals.

hehe… reminds me of how self-destructive humans are

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> Oh yeah, that’s smart. Replace low-level-toxins with high-level radiation.

I think a normal person would have taken that in the figurative sense. Go get some sleep, TD :stuck_out_tongue:

I hate cigarettes. I would tell a friend of mine that he should quit, but at the same time, I wouldn;t give him shit for it. The only people I really BIG about it are my parents, who both smoke like chimneys. :frowning:

Sorc reaction to people saying smoking is bad is common and I’ve seen it by many so I try not to be an asshole about it (the reason I can now stand around it without coughing up my lungs). However, my biggest problem witht his guy is that he thinks that non-smokers get the same sort of relief or feeling from the second hand smoke and that we are lucky that we don’t have to buy the cigarettes and tried to make me feel guilty about it. It’s almost like he thinks that non-smokers don’t smoke purely for economical reasons. While that is one reason, it is one of the more minor reasons so it is just sort of annoying and arrogant. I try to be very curteous to smokers, but when they are like that it pisses me off. Many of my friends here smoke and I try not to be bothered by it and I hardly ever say anything, but when a smoker is like that, it makes me want to. Such as some of my friends that smoke will sometimes ask if it’s alright if they smoke and I’ll say yes since they were nice enough to ask instead of just lighting up. It just shows common curtousy.

I usually ask if Im at a friends house, because it’s a house, and their parents might get ticked. Other than that, I usually just light up. Just ask me to move or something and I probably will, I can’t speak for all smokers everywhere, but I can say that most people will step aside.

My biggest problem with this guy is that he thinks that non-smokers like the smell of smoke. Many smokers here won’t move just because they are Marines and Marines can be assholes at times (probably 90% of Jacksonville, NC and Camp Lejune are Marines, even the women), especially at the Pvt/PFC level.

The best way of being free from a vice is never getting into it in the first place. And I hate to see people polluting the air and spreading ashes all over the place, without the slightest respect for others. Being… odd like me has its advantages. I would never get involved with such a vile thing!

I’m a chain smoker… If they don’t like the second hand smoke, then leave the area… That’s the only advice I can give.

YUK!

That is by far, the least intelligent comment I have ever seen. Not only is it one word, but it’s one word spelled wrong.

I actually like the smell of secondhand smoke. A lot.

But then, I am weird.

[Though the self-righteous people in both camps tick me off. Fortunately, I haven’t had to deal much with any of them. Most people I know [NOT to be confused or assumed to be most people in general] are pretty cool/polite about it.]

I second that motion.
