Well you wonder why I always dress in black
Why you never see bright colors on my back
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone
Well there’s a reason for the things that I have on

I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down
Livin’ in the hopeless hungry side of town
I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime
But is there because he’s a victim of the times

I wear the black for those who’ve never read
Or listened to the words that Jesus said
About the road to happiness through love and charity
Why you’d think he’s talking straight to you and me

Well we’re doin’ mighty fine I do suppose
In our streak of lightning cars and fancy clothes
But just so we’re reminded of the ones who are held back
Up front there oughta be a man in black

I wear it for the sick and lonely old
For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold
I wear the black in morning for the lives that could have been
Each week we lose a hundred fine young men

And I wear it for the thousands who have died
Believin’ that the Lord was on their side
I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died
Believin’ that we all were on their side

Well there’s things that never will be right I know
And things need changin’ everywhere you go
But till we start to make a move to make a few things right
You’ll never see me wear a suit of white

Oh I’d love to wear a rainbow every day and tell the world that everything’s okay
But I’ll try to carry off a little darkness on my back
Till things’re brighter I’m the man in black[/i]

Yeah, no one cares about nazi’s anymore man, now it’s about dead musicians.

Apparently Johnny Cash died this morning. That really sucks, cause he was a legend, pretty much. To be honest I wasn’t really that big a fan of his, but I respected him and his music. It really sucks when a great person in music dies.

Best. Timing. Ev0r.

Damn. I really liked Johnny Cash, too- a lot more than Nazis. Hitler would have liked Johnny Cash, too.

But idiocy aside- this man will be missed greatly. His music inspired A LOT of musicians that I enjoy listening to and kinda inspired me somewhat- and I don’t normally like country. :\

Cybercompost: wow- you and Kaiser made the same thread
Cybercompost: at the same exact time
Cybercompost: 2:50 PM eastern
Cybercompost: WHAT THE FUCK!? ARE YOU MARTIANS!?!?!!?!?

You bastard. lol

That’s really sad he’s a great man, I wasen’t a big fan of his music although some of his songs were very good like ring of fire. But what interested me the most was his cover of Nine Inch Nails, Hurt, it’s a good song, but he made it beautiful.

A sad day indeed. :hmm:

Guess we saw the same void [of a Johnny Cash thread] at the same time.

Johnny Cash was the man.

Yes, I’m a martian.

Well… actually, I’m a horse.

…Well, I can’t really lie to you, I’m really a broom.

He wore black to the end.

Yeah, Johnny Cash had just a great personality. He had plenty of charisma, which I suppose is why I like him even though I don’t listen to a lot of his music. And yes, I do like his cover of “Hurt” far more than the original.

Anyone who can pull off a NIN cover is OK in my book.

Poor Cash.

Wow, now that the 2 threads are combined, this thread looks so much more messed up.

Muchmore music was playing some Johnny Cash videos, which is good. But much music hasn’t really done anything, other than mention it… which doesn’t really surprise me. And I’m assuming the people at MTV don’t even know who Johnny Cash is, other than the “old guy that covered the NIN song”

Man.
Johnny Cash is one damn good artist. No matter what genre, he just kicks ass.
wore all black to school to commemorate his death

Edit: I barely ever wear all black to school.

Yeah, I signed on to the net this morning, read an article about it and cried. Damnit, that man was a musical god.

This is sad, Two famous people dead on the same day.

Personally, I usually hate country music, but Johnny Cash was the man.

The man in black was cool. He had some good songs. This is indeed a sad day.

Damn, that’s the second celebrity interviewed by Larry King Live and a few weeks later died.

They showed all these interview clippings from Bob Hope when he turned 100, then two weeks later he died.

I saw Johnny Cash being interviewed by larry King Live, and then he died.

dundundunDUN!

Heh, maybe Larry King is some sort of bad omen.
