Question about Ragnarok Online

10k usually.

Heh. I figured a bit higher than that.

10k on at any given time Cro. You can easily multiply that by 5 times or something.

wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong

i downloaded RO on my 56k, and i play it with the same one, and get a normal amount of lag. my computer is a pentium 4.53 ghz with a ge4 though, i dunno about you. i think the lag is almost totally server side.

It’s the link between the user and the server. RO is inefficient in that it loads every person’s location, angle, sprite one by one with each square moved. At least it did in the first Beta, not sure if they still do it that way now.

It’s OK; as a sort of pastime during your lunchbreak. As a game it’s presently too unbalanced and static to be playable for a long duration of time. I mean. What is there to do presently beyond walking around killing cute monsters in a desperate attempt to level up? There’s a reason why people have developed bots for the game.

Except that Everquest is bigger (EQ is waaayhayhay fucking big), not laggy, 3D , more variable, better balanced, has more possibilities of what you can do with what races, classes and such, continues to have expansions, is regularly patched for issues that do come up,etc…etc…etc…

RO’s imbalanced, laggy as all fucking hell. All the have in common from what I’m hearing is hack and slash.

So you get what you pay for.

better balanced,

Sin, I think that I speak for everyone here that when the new RO classes get implemented, the game will be one of the most balanced in the world.

strange, people keep saying similar things in the WC3 exp beta forum and I dunno, they really don’t have it right. EQ has more races, class and combination possibilities. I’m a tad more impressed with the detail of EQ.

Sin, I was referring to how horribly the new classes will fuck the game up :stuck_out_tongue: A fighting class now has access to healing skills (otherwise exclusive to Acolytes and Priests), another fighting class has HP and MP regeneration (which are the two best skills of respectively the fighter and the mage) for half the exp cost, a thief class can force people to unequip their crap in PvP, etc :stuck_out_tongue:

Well I wouldn’t know about these lovely changes. Holy shit. Wow. The production team’s on crack.

Yeah, it’s horribly messed up. And all the old classes will get nerfed to hell as well. If this will be the same when they go P2P, they can kiss my money goodbye.

I’m still hoping that they’ll nerf some of the new abilities. It’s absurd really. I’m sure the number of complaints that’ll come up when PvP is implemented will make them change at least some stuff.

There is a difference between saying RO and saying iRO, which is what we (have to) play. The five other versions of RO are a LOT better than iRO, they have tens and hundreds of thousands on with no lag, for example. They also have a bunch of nifty stuff, such as “American” mode, which lets you kill other players. (I’m not kidding, it’s called American) iRO doesn’t get new things because as far is Gravity is concerned Americans are bad for the RO community and don’t deserve the same treatment as the five other ROs. (even though Americans have to share iRO with all but five countries anyway…)

It’s really sad that a bunch of complete assholes run a nice game.

One thinks we should design our own MMORPG

Six versions? But isn’t the game developed by a single group?

The other five are China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand. Each of those countries has their own version of RO with many more features than International RO has. And yes, they’re all by the same company.

But it doesn’t make much sense… Do all the versions have different features? Don’t you think it would be better if there was a standard version with all the capabilities of the others?

It’d be better for us obviously since we get screwed over in every way when it comes to getting new features. However, Gravity sems to want revenge against Americans, so I doubt we’ll ever see them.
