Penny-Arcade isnt funny

PA’s pretty good…no it’s not funny all the time, and sometimes just plain weird, but I like it nonetheless. I <3 webcomics

Amen.

I have laughed repeatedly while reading PA, and even when I didn’t, I at least found it amusing.

That’s funny, because I’ve only laughed at 8-Bit two or three times. All with Black Mage, of course.

I AM THE BLACK MAGE THAT CASTS THE SPELLS THAT MAKES THE PEOPLES FALL DOWN!

I prefer VGCats, but Penny Arcade and Mac Hall are usually much more timely with thier comics so I tend to read them more often.

I love all 3 of them, any comics that are similar to those 3?

I stopped reading Penny Arcade a while ago. It’s not really that funny anymore, plus a lot of hardcore PA fans really piss me off.

I find it as consistently funny as I ever have (meaning I don’t find every strip funny, but plenty of them are). The Shadow Hearts 2 one of a month ago or so is my favorite of recent times.

I think Foxtrot is probably my favorite print comic. Last year the artist drew a christmas tree into the comic with the Eye of Sauron at the top. It was good.

What’s Jesusy?

I really fail to see how Jesusy Calvin and Hobbes is. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s a Charl comment, people. He complained about C&H being too Jesusy but had earlier said he likes Family Circus the best. It’s just him being cuh-razy.

Ah. Forgive me, I’m tired for some reason. I didn’t do anything all day, I shouldn’t be. :stuck_out_tongue:

Get Fuzzy and Calvin and Hobbes are both fucking hilarious. Seriously, that’s some funny stuff. Watching Bucky tear up a “Tickle Me Elmo” had me laughing for weeks.

But PA as far as a comic goes, it isn’t very good. They’ve done a better job recently of not having to incorporate the commentary into the funny of the comic, but I don’t really wanna read commentary, I want to laugh. It only accomplishes this every so often., making it a sub par comic.

And I agree with whoever said that web comics in general aren’t very funny - I agree. For the most part, web comics suck dick.

Penny Arcade is okay. Its not the best out there, but its defenitly worth looking once for a while.

I like P-A way more than 8-bit, because I read P-A for game criticism, not to <i>laugh uproariously at the jovial farces   :D</i>. 8-bit was funny for like the first few dozen panels.

Clearly the best webcomic is http://www.lickmyjesus.com/

I rarely look at online comic strips, so I can’t judge them very well. I have seen PA, and I find it a bit too mean for my taste (tho’ some of the riffs ARE dead-on.)

Of the NEWSPAPER comic strips, CALVIN & HOBBES is definitely the best. Not just cute and funny, but original and well-written. It really captured the point of view of kids that age, and more importantly, their IMAGINATION. Remember when Calvin used to turn a cardboard box into everything from a time machine to a duplicate maker?

You may recall I was temporarily turned into Calvin in my first “Avatar comic strip” last may.

And I may be making ANOTHER C&H homage here soon…^_~

Other strips I enjoyed include ROBOTMAN (stupid characters, but clever references) and MODESTY BLAISE (not a cartoon, but hey, the babes were good lookin’ :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: )

Say, can anyone tell me what the English title of the strip known in Spanish as A TODA VELOCIDAD (At Full Speed") is? It’s the one about a computer company. The one with a dragon as a secretary.

I really don’t read very many online comic strips.

My favorite comic strip though is The Far Side, despite the fact it’s no longer in print.

PennyArcade, who?

Read Count Your Sheep!

Damnit, Fighter, stop thinking about Family Circus!

I usually read 8-Bit Theatre. As for newspaper comics, my favourite would have to be Dilbert. The only sad bit is that it’s true…

I don’t know about this whole “Penny Arcade” but I do know this about 8-Bit: If you don’t get it, try playing Dungeons and Dragons for a little while. The humor level goes from meh to hil-fuckin-larious once you move beyond the video game RPG understanding of it.

I played D&D all the fucking time back then, and I still didn’t find it funny. I used to, of course, but then he got popular, went drifting away because there were other comics out there, and then came back, and wondered “Oh my fucking god, what the hell happened to the funny?”
