Outlaw Leaving Threads

I think almost everyone hates leaving threads, except for their perpetrators. Most of the time they are self-important garbage and/or cries for attention. They also clutter up the board (not as much as “OMG HIHI IM NEW” threads). The problem with this is how to enforce it, because people leaving won’t be around for the aftermath. (who am I kidding, of course they’ll be!) The least you can do is vocally discourage them…

eh, no big. worst threads could have been posted…

Yeah, it could be filled with religion threads.

Oh boy that would suck.

And they are mostly pointless because if one is leaving, they wouldn’t come back to see the responses. However, I do think that in some cases they might be acceptable. Besides, there aren’t many.

One, Leaving threads are a nuisance, but that’s it. Two, I can’t think of how/WHy you’d “outlaw” a thread type.

The main thing I don’t like about leaving and comming back threads is the fact that it seems that people who aren’t that well known make them more often it seems and then we get a whole bunch of ?who are you?" post in them.

There are times when they make sense, such as when one is only going to be gone for a month or so w/out internet access, or when one is going into the armed forces (aka Rast, GinMan, etc). And welcome/I’m new threads also make sense, as these people often don’t know where their place is on the boards, and would probably like to meet people here. Of course, these threads are mostly destroyed by people telling them that they don’t belong here, or insulting them for some spelling/grammar problem, but that’s a different problem.
