Is the sword made from steel or some sort of metal? That bladeguard part looks a little fragile

Anyway, I think that the sword is pretty cool, but if I get a wallhanger (I’ve actually got one already, but if I get <I>another</I> one) I’ll get one that looks more like a real sword.
No extra details like a small skull on the hilt or a very flashy looking bladeguard…
Just something that looks like a piece of sharp metal that you swing around to hurt and/or kill people.
